I go to college near the only Swiss Miss manufacturing plant in the US. I dmed the big monopoly company that owns Swiss Miss on Twitter asking if I could have the floorplan to the factory so I could run a D&D campaign where players infiltrate the Swiss Miss factory to find the “secret Swiss Miss formula.” They thanked me for asking and said that due to security concerns, I could not have the floor plans. Which was honestly the response I expected to get.
… I’m still going to do that campaign & put at least a hundred hours of research into the probable floor plans of the Swiss Miss factory.
You could probably go to the city zoning department and ask for the blueprints for the building, watch a few factory tours, and bam. You've got the floorplan for the most part. How Its Made might actually help with this. On the other hand, you might get arrested by Swiss Piss Police. Either way, best of luck.

Flash forward six years, I am most of the way through my first semester of college when I suddenly have a craving for sugar at 1 am. I reach down to my shelf, pull out the unopened box of swiss-miss instant chocolate milk, open the box, and suddenly I feel the burden of rage passed on.

The reason the packets were designed that way seems to be that while the average coffee mug is 12 Oz, the average COCOA mug is 18, so the packets are in increments of 6, that way you can easily measure out the right amount of cocoa powder whether you are using a cocoa mug or coffee mug. 3 for a cocoa mug, 2 for a coffee mug, or even just 1 if you're using a coffee cup (which is a slightly bigger teacup, on average, about 6 oz, this is a very common thing across Europe and at fancy dinners worldwide, meant to serve after-dinner coffee, to which cocoa is a common alternative.)
There is no excuse for the lack of perforation or box, though.
i agree with the last sentance since unless you're using a coffee mug you will need to use a single seperate packet meaning you would have to seperate it and without perforation its impossible
Also feels kinda scummy since they're basically baiting you by selling an entire box that in reality only provides 2-3 servings

Honestly, the lack of perforation is probably just because it'd be too expensive to change their machines up to include it, and it wouldn't make them any more money, so they just don't care. As for the box, that is probably because it's a marketing tactic a lot of products use, where they make the box/container bigger than it needs to be so people get the illusion of getting more for their money.

You're basically right, they do it to keep calorie count low. It's something like 150 calories per packet, and so if they were honest and made packets for 12oz of fluid they would have to list them as 300 calories which would inevitably turn people away.
It's like this with a lot of things, the reason that sugar packets are so small is so that they can be listed as 0 calories, since they are able to round down at low single digit numbers.

initially, I thought it was wasted potential that you weren’t screaming the entire second half of this video, but then I realized that it’s just a clever way to portray the frustration that you experience
Swiss Miss must have gotten your letter, as they aren’t attached anymore (and some of them are attached, but they’re super easy to rip now.) They still kept the original box dimensions, and one envelope now contains 39 g of hot cocoa.
