This is a fantastic and concise introduction to the game. And what a game it is! On a side note, I have NEVER witnessed customer care after a game has released like these guys are doing. All 5 members of the team have been on discord for hours a day, solving players' problems in real-time! It's unbelievable! Oh yeah, and then Travis goes ahead and smashes out 2 patches on day one of release implementing things players had suggested THAT DAY! Holy crap guys. You are going above and beyond for making this game as user-friendly as possible for every kind of customer. This is awesome! I really hope this pays off for you, it's not often you see developers with this amount of passion in the game they're making. I've already bought the game, but I'm going to go yell at my friend until he buys it too.
I legit bought this game just now thanks to this video. This man is one hell of a presenter and he straight up sold me on it. This is how you showcase games.

Definitely starting as Veteran since I've recently replayed Privateer and I'm a glutton for punishment. I want the WHOLE experience. A nice throwback to how keyboard-smashingly irritating it was to start in the Troy system in a Tarsus with one laser, crappy radar, no afterburner and no jump drive. Hurt me, baby!
Even if Space Sims weren't my oldest friend, I'd still have bought this game based JUST on how...WHOLESOMELY honest and open the presentation is. Please keep making space sims. Please. You are...everything right about the industry, sir.
I got both RG and RG:O and I love both of them, I'm such a fan of space combat single player games and wasn't having so much fun with one (or two!) from the LucasArts ones time. I missed the genre so much and I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Keep up making those games and I promise I will keep up buying it!
Excellent tutorial. When I first started the game up, I was a little dismayed at the lack of an in-game tutorial...but this video, along with the presenter's straight-forward, no-nonsense attitude, has 180'd me into being very satisfied. So far the Epic Game Store has been my Satisfactory loader. I'm excited to play, but it's probably going to have to complete downloading tomorrow as it's currently way past my bed time.
Agreed. Maybe the worth of EGS can actually be measured! Like, in being the exclusive retailer of this game for a year. No, no just that. EGS is literally worth that. And the captivity of Borderlands 3. That to. Set my people free EGS.

Rebel Galaxy was a hidden diamond that I only found due to the Epic Store giveaway. I've hence gone & bought it on Steam and have been enjoying it SO much! Looking forward to this one. You guys do a hell of a job, and I loved seeing all of the nerding out you did with the minigames, ship painter, & quality of life stuff in your old intro video. If I ever made a game, I'd have trouble getting to release due to such diversions, but you pulled it off with excellent results. Best dev award for being super dedicated & loving what you do!
I played the first on GOG and i liked it. My heart was set against installing Epic Launcher. Not even METRO made me do this and that's a good game that i would had bought on Steam/GOG when launched. But this game. This game hits that spot. I liked the music from the first and when i watched a review from ACG and saw that the music part was improved consistently i knew i wanted it. And thus is how i installed Epic Launcher. Went on the game's page, watched a bit of the video there and just had to come here and give a thumb's up when i saw the in context usage licensing for streaming part. And i'm not even streaming, but that's really cool. So i agree, they deserve recognition and they deserve to get payed, as few developers these days still make games out of love of playing games.
You can really tell this game is a passion project. So many cool details and subtle touches that a lot of devs wouldn't even give the time of day. I'm looking forward to diving into this when it comes out. One of my most anticipated games of the year!

Travis actually narrates audiobooks for Audible on the side. I think he said on Twitter that he's got a new one coming out around the same time as RGO.
I generally don't support Epic Games Store, but I did play Rebel Galaxy the first, I really like it and enjoy it, So, I will give you my support in this new iteration. You guys have heart and dedication and only that is worth my support.

Im trying not to go crazy with excitement for this game but I have been counting down the days like an excited child. Going to have to book time off work to play this.
I pre-ordered RGO the day the release date was announced and will probably buy it again once it's on Steam/GOG/Humble next year because this makes me feel like I'm a kid in the '90s again, in awe at the work of small teams of passionate developers and artists like Origin and Blizzard. It's just got that great feeling. Travis, I don't think I'm alone when I say you and Double Damage are making dreams come true. RGO looks to absolutely nail the Privateer vibe, not to mention it actually seems to be a game (as opposed to a tedious sim or a second job) which will involve telling a coherent and possibly compelling story, blowing things up and, whoa, novel concept here---FUN. Can't say the same for many other so-called starfighter games released (or announced and then 200% shamelessly milked for cash) this decade. Love the GTA style radio stations (especially the inclusion of a Cowboy Bebop station) and all the licensed music I've heard so far, too---which reminds me, who is responsible for the Firefly-esque slide guitar soundtrack pieces when you're on station etc.? (You guys are literally checking off every item on my "dream space game" wishlist here...) I haven't been this excited for a new game in years. Thank you all for all your hard work getting this into our hands. Now go buddy up with some ex-Volition guys next and make Freespace 3 with Howie Day cockpit art. Pleeeease? :D

This game is a lot of fun. My first purchase on Epic store after seeing this video. I really enjoyed the first one and I didn't know this one had come out.
The Missouri system extreme threat, lightly patrolled... That is highly accurate... Also, this is the first that I'm hearing about this game and it looks great! I love the bar area, it adds a layer of depth that seems missing in other space games! I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the game! Great Job!
This game is an updated version of an old Origin game called Privateer, and another game called Freelancer. I loved those games, and I am glad an updated version of those games has been brought out.
Also watch his video on the Ship Painting feature in the game. It's basically a full-blown paint program with layers and photoshop-style blending modes, plus ability to import and add any image you want onto your ship. Yes, of course that means porn on your ship, but the truly creative options are endless.
@@Thunder_Owl Hmm, maybe so the process of purchasing the game isn't a pain in the @$$? Forcing people onto a single store platform is anti-consumer. Then again, you sound like a paid EGS shill to me.
@@TheMarcHicks , paid, i wish !! :D No my point is personal, i don't understand significance of store how you get your game shortcut on desktop. How this controversy started? Is it some steam features (that i am not using and don't care), or something else? I mean you are not walking into supermarket B saying "i demand you also have product that is only in supermarket A"? You just buy it in "A", if you want it. There is something i am missing in picture. Also, dear EGC, please pay me, they say you should :) On a side note, 2 years ago i got tired of waiting of games that i want, so i started to make some myself too :)
@@Thunder_Owl Epic is an anti-consumer hell-hole, & forcing people to use it.....when half a dozen other online store fronts exist....is itself an anti-consumer act. I watched a TH-cam review of this game a year ago. So disappointed it wasn’t available for Xbox. I just noticed it in the Xbox store yesterday. I’ve never clicked on “buy” so fast. With No man's sky beyond, rebel galaxy outlaw, and The Outer worlds on the way. It's a good time to enjoy space games.
does Outer worlds have space combat?
well you could also take a look into upcoming Starpoint Gemini.
@@1ButtonDash as far as I know, No it doesn't. It's just like a fallout game where your on foot all of the time.
This game is an updated version of an old Origin game called Privateer, and another game called Freelancer. I loved those games, and I am glad an updated version of those games has been brought out.
Always love the videos and the work you guys do Mr. Baldree!
Also watch his video on the Ship Painting feature in the game. It's basically a full-blown paint program with layers and photoshop-style blending modes, plus ability to import and add any image you want onto your ship. Yes, of course that means porn on your ship, but the truly creative options are endless.
what a fantastic overwiev! thanks a lot I just bought the game and will be enjoying it with my hotas
39:00 "..I'm an idiot"
No you're not. You're brilliant.
after this video instant buy thank you for the sneak peak and starting guide
Holy shit! I just realized that you are the voice for the Cradle series of audiobooks!
Great job on that by the way.
Hahaha! Dross4ever.
Thanks vor this fantastic game, I didn’t knew your games, I purchased both of them and they are really nice to play, keep the good job 👍
I called the "Potato" in Privateer the "Mailbox". Loving this!
Fabulous job by Travis... as others have said, this is something more developers should consider doing.
İ can't wait for the Steam release
Steam? Why such specific preference.
Also, dear EGC, please pay me, they say you should :)
On a side note, 2 years ago i got tired of waiting of games that i want, so i started to make some myself too :)
@@Thunder_Owl Epic is an anti-consumer hell-hole, & forcing people to use it.....when half a dozen other online store fronts exist....is itself an anti-consumer act. Discord has a 90:10 revenue split, so why didn't the devs go with Discord as their primary store-front? Why not GOG so I could outright own the game? Nah, Devs just wanted a fat wad of cash courtesy of Fortnight Whales.
@@Thunder_Owl you still sound like a paid shill, btw. Your denials are unconvincing.
Thank you for this video. it really put me at ease and i wish more devs would do this. thank you sir.
I watched a TH-cam review of this game a year ago. So disappointed it wasn’t available for Xbox. I just noticed it in the Xbox store yesterday. I’ve never clicked on “buy” so fast. It’s the game I’ve been waiting for since I played freelancer. And when I play I just can’t stop humming the Firefly theme. Then the in-game radio takes over. This game ROCKS. It’s so, so, so , so good.
Watched this like a minute or two, was enough to make me buy it.
Looking forward to it, I still play 'Rebel Galaxy' and it seems that I have played it forever, I still think its one of the best.
Excellent job, chaps. Can't wait for the Steam release so I can waste stupid amounts of time on the 8 Ball mini game. Space is looking prettier too from the first vid. (or is it just me?) Also lovin' that Amigo interface, takes me back.
I loved Rebel Galaxy. This looks even better
