Thanks for this video, I managed to get my Durston fully kited out by doing the minings.
Here's a tip to make finding the resource spots easily on the asteroids: remember that you can hold Q to face the asteroid as you do your flybys. At 0 speed, an afterburner burn will get you to about half maximum drift, or max speed if you're actually with the throttle all the way up.

So I don't know who needs to hear this but the astroid belts in the texas system tend to have alien artifacts in the shinier asteroids, which typically run from between 16,000 to 19,000 creds depending on luck, if you are willing to take the time to look it pays off way much

OTOH, I found turrets to be utterly useless (PS4 version) for anything other than mining. They don't auto target. You have to actually occupy the turret and manually aim the damn thing. Ok for mining, but in combat? Who's flying your ship? Who's firing all your hardpoint weaps? Completely flipping stupid.
So many good things in the PC game, left out or nerfed in the console version.

@@lonewolf5238 Late to the party, but this is 100% false. I have the platinum on ps4 and turrets are my lifeblood. They take out so many enemies and don't drain my energy reserve. Been playing since launch and they've worked the same since day 1

Still works great! Spent 30 mins making trips to each of the Texas asteroid belts and made about $150k to buy the Sonoma. Haven’t even delivered Orzo package, it’s still in my hold 😂

1 thing I've also noticed when mining, the bigger the reticule on the asteroid after scanning, the better the resources, might check into that as well

Yep , worked this out early ; found it a lot easier on my pocket to as doing pirate chasing early on (even the easier ones ) ends up causing some sort of damage and that in turn costs money to repair. Money you could be saving to upgrade to a better ship and or equipment. What I found helpful is with missions it tells you what risk level they are to you. Something noteworthy is as you upgrade your ship and equipment the risk level changes. Yes ; understandable I know but it give you an idea when your ship and equipment is at a level that you should be able to handle the mission. At least that's the way I read it .
Dang this game is everything it needs to make a new Wing Commander game. This game needs more ships and weapons to choose from, one of the fun aspect from the first rebel galaxy.

As a heads up you can use the music when streaming this game. When you launch the game there is a "Streaming video play" button, which reduces the music library to everything Double Damage secured rights, so streamers can play it. If you search for "Rebel Galaxy Outlaw - Getting Started!" one of the creators of the game talks about it at the beginning and even goes through what to do incase an automated system flags your video.

This game looks fun, the space flight reminds me a bit of an all time favorite, x3 Albion prelude. Sadly, I'm still addicted to random warband mods lol.

I didnt get into X3 very much. X2 and the expansions for it was bad ass. I made so much money playing the stock market. Got me fleet going and started conquering the entire galaxy

Yep, it's what I did and I'm so happy to see a game developer actually understanding that point.
You can stream with music on with this game. The Dev purchased the license to allow streamers to play "MOST" of the music on the game. Just check the stream-friendly option. The owners of the music are also aware that YT will be confirming, and they are good with it.
Double Damage made sure to pay for in-context rights, which essentially means content creators can freely record/stream the game as the music is playing on the in-game radio, so long as it’s being used in that context and not ripped separately.
It's more due to I'd rather have you guys listen to my message than the music.

It's super profitable and in an hour or so, just start with whatever ship you want. My issue with the game is once you have the top ship with all the goodies on it....its sorta just playing the story. Nothing really hard after that
@@xBeauGaming Maybe it's just me, but the side missions (scan listening posts, rescue miners, etc.) are engaging enough that I can just pick it up and do a few random things for an hour or three... Even with all the gear. I just need to be in a system with "challenging enough" pirates. Having more money than I can possibly use doesn't really faze me.

good stuff. [edit] Figured out mining on the Sonora ($100k) ship using the rear turret for a mining laser. Bo to belt, scan for marked asteroids. Then turn around 180 degs close to slow-moving asteroid; use the '2' (PC) key to toggle to the rear gunner view and drill asteroid. Hit little patch like you said. Pick up booty with tractor.
Ya but you have to position the ship oddly, and I'd rather have 2 kick ass turrets.
@@xBeauGaming I'd rather have three weapons on the Sonora (two gauss and autocannon). A single laser turret is pretty useless at this time.

I accept missions that have me deliver certain items but I need to purchase them myself but no information on where to get them. I’ve wasted too much time trying to find where to get them
To new player: you will need a Jump Drive first before any of this. Seems obvious, but just in case I thought i'd mention it.

I'm on PC as well and use a 360 controller, much much easier to fly and all lol

Yup. Even way easier. Just scan and turn around an asteroid. Pickup. Profit.
Just ensure your turret can face the asteroid (90° range all over the turret hardpoint).
Looks like the mechanism for making money is a little bit different between RGO and RG.

This video doesn't cover how to actually get the $ to get those items... so just do missions until you get 20k for all this? Also don't you need a tractor beam to get the mining stuff that drops?
Yeah , you have to get a Tractor beam to do the main mission to progress the story. You probably already worked this out by now. I did a few low risk missions plus asked the bartenders about any news. This in turn gave me destinations to check out for salvage. Make sure to check out the sectors surrounding the destinations your given as its not exact. Target salvage and destroy to get cargo and tractor beam it aboard but leave any contraband early on or you get hassled by the space police. Soon I shall upgrade my cargo space by 10. I also try to avoid the low priced ore and steel and go for diamonds, Gold, water and best of all Alien Artifacts .

Bro this game is so frustrating, i have the very first ship, i try to make some money and i get damaged and then i repair it and i get money again they damage me, its a never ending cycle and i never make money lol
Do the mining thing bro, you'll have any ship you want in under an hour tops.
Don't follow the main quest too far. Stay in the beginning system for a while, mine until you can get the Sonora and some good stuff (two gauss guns and autocannon, generator lvl 2, third body armor and even the secret container for 2 tons of illegal material). You can do some in system quests, like delivery. Flee the combat if you are in front of a pirate transporter / too many ships. Took me some time to overpass the frustration of the beginning.
Join a guild and focus mainly on merchant quests. Get Power Gen, Tracer, and Guass. Upgrade the swarmer missile Launcher (it can change ships with you, the others wont), then once you are setup, buy a mining laser (use either tracer or guass slot)
Power Gen will help you out a lot.
Focus on Mining/trading and merchants. Also you can talk your way out of combat if you want as well, and most times especially in Texas, they will leave you alone and turn friendly, letting you mine away without hassle.
Another tip is to get close to the target before firing, unload with your lasers/tracer then use missiles to finish them off. Finish the main quest line quickly so you can get your first Buddy as well to help you in tight spots, but don't worry about the jump drive until you buy another ship. Texas has load of things to keep you going while you save up for the multiple jumps to deliver your good for the main quest.

it can be less frustrating to avoid combat. There are some pirate raid defense missions near the large bases, where the pirates usually just get blown up by the base defenders anyway and it gives you a few thousand credits for your "efforts" 🤭. Or fly between Austin and the other stations, buying low and selling high, keeping the gameplay entirely economical at the outset until you can upgrade your gear. There are certain items which an area exports and imports, stablely, giving better profits for a trade route. They can run out of stock pretty fast though, but acter a few trips the mining gear becomes affordable. I also thought it was clever to try to sell the radar starting out, and getting the mining scanner right away (it sells for 35k or so) 😔 but it doesn't work without the basic radar, it seems. but yeah, going to war in a literal garbage truck is not for everyone.
