    Thanks for your review. I bought a 15 WRX and have been very happy with it after some suspension mods and a few mods to the transmission. The new engine is very responsive and it really should have been the engine they put in the FR-S/BRZ. As soon as they update the engine in the STI I am trading up.
    These cars are like that girl you knew that looked good from some angles, and butt ugly from others.. But because she was good in the sack you looked past the fugly moments... :)

      @@virid6819 fa20 in the brz. No turbo or built internals. The wrx has a fa20dit. Which as far as i know is the only boosted one. The newer legacys and foresters also have a regular fa20. I heard the new 2023 sti or wrx is getting a fa24. So more liters and power

    thanks for the video. I agree with you that the car has all the power you need for track use, although I have not raced it on a track as of yet. the only thing I wished you did was drive it in full manual - to see just how much it acts like a RWD car.

    I drove this car on the track a yr ago. Very very impressed last few get STI were...I don't want to say horrible but "soft" and understeer a lot during hard corner. This car is on par with EVO or better. By better I mean better interior and usability.

    What is it about Subaru that you wouldn't want to drive it before? I've watched a few of your videos, but I didn't hear a concrete reason for it yet.

    Any plans to review this car? I've considered selling and consolidating my cars (S2000 and Focus ST) to buy one of these jack of all trades cars. Do you think its worth it?

      savagegeese oh come on, tell us, dude! Getting magnetic objects stuck in heat shields have anything to do with it? My favorite part about a Subaru is how they recommend putting the coolant additive in the antifreeze. It's stop leak because they all develope head gasket leaks!

    • @savagegeese
      @savagegeese  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      kkthxk Gonna go for a 1998 NSX and be done. Modern cars all have these absurd tradeoffs from, 30 different ECUs, to DI like you said that clogs up, to head gaskets and oil leaks or companies denying your warranty for whatever reason they see fit. (Cough) The Midwest eats these cars like a fat fucks eat custard with fried twinkees.

      So is the answer to that hidden in a video somewhere or are we just left to wonder? Subaru in general is all I'm looking at for my next car so far. If it's a sentimental thing (family member died in one or something tragic like that), I'd understand that (I think). If there's something the rest of us need to know to stay away from, I'd love to hear at least a hint of it. Some folks out here trust and value your opinion.

    • @DynamicistDante
      @DynamicistDante 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not about reliability issue. I think it's more of a personal tastes and goals. I've having my WRX STI for more than a year already and I love every day driving it. Some people may not like it because it's not a comfortable as an Audi, maintenance cost more than a Camry, MPG not as high as the new Civic, lower power to displacement ratio ... etc
      No car can ever fit perfectly to everybody.
      There are many reasons, but I think it's all come down to your priorities and what you're expecting to have as your own car. For me, I wanted a car that I can go anywhere, and do everything I need while having raw handling experience of characteristics from the 90s era with modern touch, hence, the STI is the only choice.
      It's all depends on you. There is nothing wrong with Subaru.

  • @xuimod
    @xuimod 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    No more Subaru's for you? Judging from your responses below it seems like a Subaru dealership treated you like shit. That's unfortunate, Subaru makes great cars.

    • @afgtp0906

      Its because he doesn't know how to drive AWD plain and simple. It's not the same as RWD and this guy doesn't understand that when he's behind the wheel. Watch all his Subaru driving videos he drives them all the same. Ridiculous.

    • @Oscarcode1033
      @Oscarcode1033 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      AWD Subarus will push and understeer. The driver has to straighten them out after turns before full throttle I heard. This car shines on performing on loose surfaces such as snow or gravel. Lots of peeps are not aware of this. Chris Atkinson talks about it in a video. Also why is the DCCD set to a middle setting? Wouldn't you want a rear bias on the track? It certainly would lessen understeer. Either Auto minus or Manual but bias towards the rear. Andrew Fong, he's definitely no Chris Atkinson hahaha.

      @@Oscarcode1033 Imo the STI is a mediocre track car but almost perfect for backroads/street use... there's a good reason why more and more Hill Climb cars are now AWD. You don't need the AWD on a nice surface like a track but for real world situations i'd pick the STI.
