    Very clear instructions - will use this excellent video to help me remove light fungal infection on a fine old Super Takumar from the 60s-70s. I'll use 90% alcohol then water on genuine cotton buds to clean the lens' surfaces + mobile phone camera to record each stage and to note convex & concave sides of each piece of glass in relation to lens-bloc rings, as you helpfully point out. Fortunately the focusing ring is as smooth as butter, so no need to interfere with the helicoid threads. Thanks for making the video.

    Helpful as far as it goes... is there now no way to solve the separation issue between lenses?

    An exciting video as always. Should it expect the disassembly procedure on a Super-Takumar 50mm f/1.4 lens to be extremely similar?

      Thank you for the suggestion. The QL17 seems to be a popular camera and will continued to occasionally be featured.

    Excellent. This vid more than any other has inspired me to get the appropriate tools and give this a go. Can you perhaps cover disassembly/cleaning of an SMC-Takumar at some stage, as their construction is significantly different (aperture communication lever etc.), and if it's not too much trouble, do a vid on how to deal with a lens with fungus, i.e. what sort of cleaning agent would you use to try and get it off the lens surfaces?
    PS Where did you get the manuals?

      +Hooray for Pentax! Excellent to hear of your enthusiasm. Fungus can be of the type that is superficial which can be removed with isopropyl alcohol and a soft chamois. Or fungus can be of the type that resembles spider web tendrils, this type usually attacks and scars the lens coating. Identifying and accessing the fungus on various lenses would be a good subject for some Fix Old Camera videos. Thank you for your interest.

    This video is awesome! Though my front element holder is stuck! I got to get the back elements but not the front. Help?

    • @FixOldCameras
      @FixOldCameras  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The name plate ring and front element group can be stubborn. Try seeping some isopropyl alcohol around the threads and letting it soak a few minutes. Several applications might be needed. As a last resort the name plate ring might have to be drilled to accept spanner points. A solid spanner tool is also important.

    Would it be a lot more difficult to access the focusing helicoid; clean and lubricate it?

    • @FixOldCameras
      @FixOldCameras  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anytime the focusing helical threads are separated the re-timing can be an issue. Rating difficulty depends on your patience and skill level. Recommend that the inexperienced clean the threads as well as possible without actually separating the threaded components.

      It threads on using a friction mat or a stopper type lens friction tool.
