I've seen them twice with a full symphony orchestra both times were magnificent!

Tuesday Afternoon is my favorite song by The Moody Blues. The song is from their Days Of Future Passed album with an orchestra playing brief pieces of music between the Moody's songs. The album is about the events in a day from early morning to late night. I've been listening to The Moody Blues since around 1970 and I've seen them in concert 3 times. The keyboardist, Mike Pinder played the Mellotron in many of the songs that were recorded up until 1978. It was his contribution to the band that really got me interested and liking their music. Sadly, Mike Pinder passed away this year.

It is so heartening to have a young person like yourself react positively to a fantastic piece of work like this. I think Days of Future Passed by the Moody Blues is one of the best albums ever made. It was so ahead of its time. Great video Elok!

Good music knows no time. I'm 74 and appreciate great music that was written centuries before my birth. There will be great music written long after I and even you are gone. It certainly makes our time here on Earth better!

The Moodies were an album band. To full appreciate them you need to experience the full albums without interruption. beginning with Days of Future Passed the first progressive rock/classical and stereo album. The band classic members started with the joining of Justin Hayward and John Lodge in 1966 followed in 1967 with the landmark album Days of Future Passed a true concept album about the cycles of life seen thru the passing of one day.

You are right about their popularity in 50 years. I’ve been listening to the Moodies already 50.
It was once said by someone about the Moodies.
“Their music takes nothing from the nastalgia of the past and adds nothing to the probabilities of the future”

I was fortunate to see them live 1X. It was towards the end of their careers, after they released their Long Distance Voyager album. They were terrific. They played in a smaller, more intimate venue, which made their music even more enjoyable. Justin Hayward said he wrote this song when he re-visited a park his mother used to take him and his brother to for long afternoons. It was a Tuesday, so he named it Tuesday Afternoon. He also stated that he was high when he wrote it. Some critics rate this song as their best ever. Great job Elok; so glad you know great music when you hear it.😀😀😀😀

Hello again, dear Elok Hsu 😊 There has never been another band quite like the Moody Blues. Their sound was truly unique and they produced so many great songs and albums.
These two songs came from their first album with new members Justin Hayward and John Lodge, called Days Of Future Passed. The album followed a single day, from dawn to nightfall, with each song representing a different time of day. It was actually the last chance the Moodies had with their record label as they'd had no hits since the huge success of their first single back in 1965. Thankfully, they finally found success again with this one and grew to be a hugely popular band.
If you get the time, my friend, listen to this album from beginning to end. Best, if you turn off the lights and close your eyes and just listen. Like the rest of their albums, it's a wonderful musical journey.
Take care always, dear Elok Hsu, and good luck with your studies 😊♥

Perhaps the best live show I've ever seen. They played everything I knew by them. They had orchestration, but not like I've seen in one youtube video. But everything was perfect. The female vocalists I saw with them, I think were the original singers. I saw then in...must've been like 1996 or 97. Camden NJ in a fairly new auditorium, with the battleship USS New Jersey as the skyline behind us. Magical is a great word to describe them

Splendid reaction. This song always has a calming effect on me and puts me in a good mood. I first heard it when i was very young too, and I know what you mean about it invoking a feeling of nostalgia. I felt the same way at that time. ✌️&💖

TA is one my favorite prog songs of the 60s. I do not know this extended version, the classical music flourishes are so well done. What I would like to know, which was first, Beatles Sargeant Pepper's or this album of Moody Blues?
