Bob had the best and greatest line in the show. I kept repeating it with a smile: "Hahaha, you idiots! I've been bitten you stupid pricks! haha I'm tainted meat!.... Tainted meat! EPIC!
Worst thing that could happen to you in their world is to be bitten. That is until cannibals capture you and are eating your leg I'm front of you then being bit is like the best thing in the world simply to be able to tell them you are after they're all nice and full just to see the look on their faces, one of the best moments in any zombie media ever made.
@@benjaminnielsen4288 the comic has good parts and bad parts... the good parts are better than the ones on the show and the bad parts are worse than the show. Also the show had the problem of letting go the major actors and that changed the story A LOT.

he's one of the characters that were screwed on the show... Sasha didn't remember him after a couple of episodes and acted as if Abraham were the love of her life

Mine was Dale, Daryl, Morgan and Negan. They all suffered different from their trauma, but they were so good actors that you really understood why they did the things they did. Bob was also great, he tried to find joy and love in a cruel world. But I would put him in place 5
I think daryl giving bob his bottle back truly shows what kind of character he is. He is absolutely pissed about him, but damn we could all die tomorrow. But just dont trink tonight.
Bob is one of my favs. I have a soft spot for the smaller main characters, like Gabriel and Eugene (always loved the two and fell more in love the more they developed), just wish Bob could've developed like those two, but I understand why
Bob is BY FAR one of my favourite characters. One of the things I loved about Season 4 and Season 5 is how they show people have mental struggles because of the apocalypse - Carl wishing his dad was dead and then going back on it, Michonne having flashbacks and speaking to her dead husband in spirit, Maggie and Daryl struggling with grief over Beth to the point that when the group is met with rain in a drought, they don't celebrate - Maggie LITERALLY DRINKING HER OWN TEARS to survive and Daryl self harming as a way to cope. It's all realistic, but I love how they showed the opposite side of that realism with Bob. The fact that someone can go through terrible, harrowing experiences and still want to be positive. The fact that so much death around them can make someone want to celebrate life - even if that just means celebrating the fact that you're still breathing and you get to hold the hand of someone you love
@@theohuntt Yea Bob was the most human, sincere and relatable person ever. He gave me hope for humanity and the group. When he died it was so tragic. I felt like the group needed him so much
I just finished the episode where he is there for the last time (I have to admit it's one of my many rewatches). I didn't like Bob at the beginning, but as soon as I started to warm up to him, like Sasha, he got taken away. When he went missing and Sasha was worried he was alone, it just shows she really knew him more than she wanted to admit. He hates being alone, and he was right about her. She's tougher than stone, but she's so sweet too. He's the other way. He seems sweet as a button, but he's tough. Considering the writing of most minors characters not being the best, yet, Bob being so loved despite his short run-time, I think a lot of credit should be given to the actor, who had expert charisma and worked the character well.
Bob was a combat medic but he was a human being who had seen and suffered both before and after the apocalypse from a various number of situations from war, to loss of friends. A lot of folks think that law enforcement, first responders or military personnel would be desensitized to the situation in the world, but in reality no one would be truly desensitized. Bob is realistic because even though he has his own specific character, people of all walks of life and backgrounds can related to something about Bob and how his role and character in the show is depicted. Bob is one of my favorite characters.
I feel the fall would be worse. Going through all that horrible stuff. Trying to save people just to watch it fall fall part an all the people you help died an unnatural death
What we're not talking about with Bob is that while relatable; his death is Dale's in the comics. Imagine in an alternate time-line, AMC didn't fire Frank Darabont, where we got a more faithfully adapted show and we actually see Dale die in that way instead. With Jeffrey Demunn's acting I think it would more creepy than over the top.
@@stephencurran9672 I've never heard that before, thanks for letting me know. Something funny of a coincidence is that in the novela of The Green Mile, AMC is actually mentioned by the main character when talking about his activities he enjoys in the nursing home as an old man. I lost my mind when listening to the audiobook version on Audible.
Bob’s name actually used to be D’Angelo Barksdale, he use to run a project tower back in the day, shit got real for his family, he saw an out and took it, ended up Testifying against his Uncle Avon, had to skip town and go into protection, changed his name to Bob…he thought he was finally free….until the walkers showed up…shit got real when his whiteness protection detail tried to eat him. 😂 This is a better ending than him dying in prison on The Wire
Great retrospective on the character, he really did portray the role of Bob perfectly. Completely agree that he was one of the most realistic in the show
I found it odd the preacher (Gabriel) just utterly refused to change his clothes and take off that preacher collar. Its not like we were going to forget his occupation.
I loved Bob as a character. Very relatable. I'm an alcoholic and Addict myself. I understand totally how he felt. The struggle is real. He was still able to stay positive even till the end. Tainted meat! I love that part. We needed more Bob in the show.
Bob had one of my favorite lines in the whole series, back when he was talking to Daryl at the gas station (season 4) referring to the people that "opted out" by drinking Antifreeze *Daryl:* _"They could've made it"_ *Bob:* _"Everybody Make It, Till They Don't!"_
Bob was awesome. He was the humanity of the group but unfortunately he underestimated how evil some humans can be. That's why I love and consider Gabriel to be my favorite character. He made some mistakes in the past but overall is a good person with a good heart. During season 6 and onward he became amazing, he learned to toughen up and accept the new world while also keeping his morals and good heart
I never thought too much of Bob's character while watching the show, maybe I was just annoyed at his actions leading to Zachs death, but after watching this, I have a new appreciation
In the early episodes 1-3 in season 4 I thought Bob was The Governor's "man on the inside"; Because he came across as a man with a secret. Then episode 4 happened and I realized his alcohol problem was his secret. He wasn't feeding rats to the walkers in attempt to weaken the fences. Like I initially thought he was.
The scene where they eat his leg while telling him almost made me puke. It's just so evil. I think you made a good video about his character and what he really was.
You forgot Beth she was pretty realistic too, she was depressed and suicidal because she lost her mom, just like any teenager would feel like in that world.
Bob was a real one dude even tho he had to go out I'm glad he at least got to be one of the very few people in the TWD who didn't have to die alone also "tainted meat!!" Is legit a golden line
There were two characters who left a lasting impression on all others. And who's endings were very similar: Bob and Carl. Both spoke of a new and good world born out of the apocalypse being possible because of people like Rick, and his group. And both died, 'peacefully,' surrounded by most others in the group.
I'm currently rewatching TWD and just got to season 4 so this is really timely. On my first watch, I didn't really think much of Bob honestly. But really enjoyed this retrospective and insight and gives me more to think about on my rewatch!
sorry about this really long comment. i go a bit off topic but this video made me ponder a few things and, for whatever reason, i felt like expressing this. i dont think that bob died too soon but i do think it was a bit spoiled and ruined by the deaths of Beth, Tyreese, and Noah, which happened just a few episodes later. i do like the fact that no character is safe and it makes me fear for the lives of the other characters in the story. but i also think deaths should be poetic and make sense within the story. that is the case with Bob, but Beth, Tyreese, and even Noah's deaths made it feel like the show killed them off bc the runners didn't know what to do with them. so before I rewatched the show many years after seeing Bob's death, I though back on it as one of the deaths in season 5 that were done due to the show having characters the writers didn't know what to do with. 1. Beth's death made no sense (she was shot after attempting to kill an Dawn Lerner by stabbing her with a pair of tiny scissors, despite the fact that Dawn is armed and is surrounded by a bunch of trained and armed cops). 2. Tyreese's death was too sudden and out of nowhere. i think the guy should've gotten into a new relationship with someone in Alexandria who would later get captured by the Saviors and, in his pursuit in trying to find them, would get shot through the eye by Dwight after Dwight would steal Daryl's crossbow, or maybe get killed by Negan in the future lineup. But no, they killed him in both a lame and out-of-the-blue way, just to make Sasha (an annoying and uninteresting character) more psychotic and insufferable. 3. although Noah's death was far from bad and is probably one of the most memorable deaths I've seen (i actually remember the death and special effects more than the character himself), it didn't really have to happen and it could've been given to any young scavenger in Alexandria. he could've had a role in the show similar to Heath's in the comics, as the actual character in the show is a throw-away character with hardly any personality. Instead of making Denise a lesbian, they could've made Noah and Denise get together and later, his legs would get blown off. or maybe, if the actor wanted to leave, Noah could've died when he visited his family's community. ALSO BIT OFF TOPIC: if it were me, i would've made it so that the Terminus survivors didn't show up until after Beth was retrieved from the group. at that point, the viewer might even forget about gareth and might think he's dead. in fact, there is a scene in the first episode of season 5 where it almost looks like Rick kills Gareth. now, when looking closely at the scene, it's still pretty clear that Rick didn't kill him. But not many people would be analytical of it. and if the following episodes feature events like Rick and the group finding a different place to stay at, possibly an old shack or just a house, Beth, Dawn Lerner, Noah, later finding father gabriel, who'd lead them to his large church, and later retrieving Beth, then the viewer would probably forget what happened to Gareth and not remember if he's dead or not. If the viewer begins to ponder, they'd remember the scene where it looked like Rick killed and Gareth and they'd think "shit, i guess Rick killed Gareth." this is also assuming they haven't read to comics and thus, don't think anything would mirror what ended up happening in the comics. and then later of course, Bob will go missing, get his legs chopped off, and he'd later die. that's how i'd write it. Beth would still be alive and will probably accompany Glenn, Tara, Rosita, Abraham, and Eugene to Washington, Rick and co might take Noah to the community he used to live in and he may or may not die there instead of Tyreese (as at that point Noah wasn't really a central character), and later the group will reunite somehow after Eugene's big reveal and then they'll all make their way to Alexandria.
they were cannibals and they were hungry, they also had beef with them because ricks homies destroyed their home. how you got no idea? been watching just shorts and yt videos?
@@caseytaylor1570 Bruh I meant why did the showrunners/writers killed him. He was a real good complex character who also was paired with Sasha well. Should've offed the Father Gab instead of him.
@@dreambotter6389this was a big scene in be comics but with a different character, Dale I think… but Dale was long dead by this point in the show. Could they have picked someone else? Absolutely. But it wouldn’t have as much meaning if it was someone we didn’t care for.
I agree, Bob was one of best characters, that never turning into some post apocalyptic trope. I believe his alcoholism was simply a coping mechanism. After witnessing horrors on a daily basis and constantly losing those you love, alcohol because Bob’s way out. If only temporarily. It reminds me of Robert Neville, the protagonist in the novel, I Am Legend. As the vampires attack NeVille’s home nightly, he drinks himself into a stupor

Awesome video! Bob has to be one of my favorite characters. I would not be like Rick or Daryl in the apocalypse. I would be just like Bob. The conversation that he had with Rick was so good. I'm happy that people are talking about Bob!
Herschel relapses into his alcoholism after the barn is opened. It's mentioned that he used to have an intense drinking problem. To the point that he pawned that watch, which his wife bought back for him after he quit drinking. But I'll agree, they don't do a great job of showing the depravity or, oddly enough, the terrifying attractiveness of addiction in a disaster situation.
Great video! I think Tyresse is close as well and my favorite after all. If you add sasha they were my favorite click. Makes me wanna start watching it from the begin again and quit at season 10 😆
Bob is my favorite character. What can I say? Bob is a real person. While most other heroes play a specific archetype. If anyone doesn’t know, then a person cannot be just one archetype. A person contains both humor and drama. Many aspects of personalities of different archetypes. And Bob has it... I also liked Michonne when she showed up at the very, very beginning. I loved how she dealt with the trauma - silently (like most people who were at war), but was also able to take care of her sick friend and avoid even the slightest danger, rather than running headlong towards dubious adventures. I really liked Michonne and seemed like a cool veteran, but then she was also given the WARRIOR archetype. And since then, she has been doing nothing but playing this role.
*He was also the most relatable for me personally. He had PTSD from stuff he saw, as did I which led to my alcohol problem for many years & his character was a good man, but he had his demons & they caused the death of a character I honestly couldn't care less about, Bob's death was a mistake I felt. Wish his arc had lasted a little longer.*
I really did like Bob a LOT! He was a good dude and reminded me of people i knew. I wanted him to make it so bad even after he got the limb cut off. This guy felt like an actualnorm person to me who just was lucky enough to make it so far
I think you forgot to mention the actor's name and commend him for doing such a fantastic job. Writing, costume, and general show direction mean nothing if the actor can't act. His name is Lawrence Gilliard Jr.
I love this character just because most characters named Bob are either lame ass mfers, bad guys, or a comic relief/character to feel bad for. I started noticing it when I was a teenager still and had to read To Kill a Mocking Bird for the first time.
Eugene had a little problem with drinking, carol had a problem with stimulants for a bit, Daryl had a problem with drinking before the apoc (probably), Jess may have struggled with smoking, hershel was a recovering alcoholic, Abraham may have had a slight problem with drinking, there was a few ppl who smoked semi regularly Daryl being one of them. There was others that had problems with drugs and alcohol but not so in your face compared to Bob as it was written to be part of his story arc. Good video I subbed.

if it were me, i would've made it so that the Terminus survivors didn't show up until after Beth was retrieved from the group. at that point, the viewer might even forget about gareth and might think he's dead. in fact, there is a scene in the first episode of season 5 where it almost looks like Rick kills Gareth. now, when looking closely at the scene, it's still pretty clear that Rick didn't kill him.
Where tf is Wallace String? Huh? Where’s Wallace at String? WHERE TF IS WALLACE!?
Literally have no idea why they killed him.
they were cannibals and they were hungry, they also had beef with them because ricks homies destroyed their home. how you got no idea? been watching just shorts and yt videos?
@@caseytaylor1570 Bruh I meant why did the showrunners/writers killed him. He was a real good complex character who also was paired with Sasha well. Should've offed the Father Gab instead of him.
@@caseytaylor1570 He's clearly talking about the show runners. Jesus Christ
@@dreambotter6389this was a big scene in be comics but with a different character, Dale I think… but Dale was long dead by this point in the show.
Could they have picked someone else? Absolutely. But it wouldn’t have as much meaning if it was someone we didn’t care for.
I think they put Characters on the chopping block and flip a coin to see who dies next 😂
Great video man. Always enjoy some well thought out walking dead content.
Thank you so much bro!
Such an underrated actor
Bob was one of my favorites
Haven’t watched the vid yet but I love twd you earned my sub

Your very welcome, I miss him :(
OKAAY, fine ill rewatch TWD, you have convinced me
Well done man. Really liked this.
Great video, I saw 600 subs and thought damn this guy needs more subs. I'm already subd though.
Keep going. You make great content. Congratulations on 600.
Thank you so much for your support bro!
Awesome video! Bob has to be one of my favorite characters. I would not be like Rick or Daryl in the apocalypse. I would be just like Bob. The conversation that he had with Rick was so good. I'm happy that people are talking about Bob!
Thank you so much!
Great video c: Ive been getting into alot of TWD videos recently. Great work, good luck growing c:
Appreciate that man, I hope you enjoyed the video
''EAT TAINTED MEAT'' - probably the most realistic thing I would say if a bunch of cannibals were eating me infront of them.
80+ subs in a single day! Great job!
Thank you so much I’m blown away I’m up to 700!
Lmfao "TAINTED MEAT!!!!!"
Hes always been a good character in the stuff he plays in
Loved Bob- I know the series time jumps but I thought Sasha moved on too quickly from him
Beautifully done. Also love the background music. Whats it called?
Thank you, I made the background music myself on a computer software :)
Great video! I think Tyresse is close as well and my favorite after all. If you add sasha they were my favorite click. Makes me wanna start watching it from the begin again and quit at season 10 😆
Bob says he was part of two other groups before rick so a bit wrong there great video though
I’m certain I wouldn’t be a Rick or a Darrel. I couldn’t even handle 5 days with no electricity after Hurricane Beryl.
This episode of Bob’s Burgers was definitely intense. Lol
Great! Now I have to go watch The Walking Dead because of one of my favorite characters.
His opening sequence was the best scene in walking dead for me. The soundtrack(blackbird song) the visuals were just phenomenal.
Bob went out with a walker growl
he's literally my favorite character from the show
Great vid, was shocked when you said 600 subs I assumed you had more like 600k 😅
Thank you! Maybe one day hahahha
This Video got you an new Sub and Viewer
Greetings from Germany !
Thank you so much I hope you enjoy my future content
He did great on The Wire too 🔥🔥
Bob is my favorite character.
Because Lawrence Gilliard Jr is an amazing actor, unlike 98% of TWD cast who are absolutely S tier...
S being shit.
I love the part where you were in the walking dead
Such an underrated character. Wish he got more time on the show, but he had a good entrance and a good exit.
If Bob lived he would have been one hell of a killer and no longer an acholic
If I was to compare myself to anyone in the walking dead I could see myself as Morgan and carol combined.
Sad to see the character go but Bob is not only the most realistic character in TWD he's also DELICIOUS!
I've met Bobs irl. We need more Bobs
Fugg it, going to rewatch TWD for BOB
As someone who has struggled with alcoholism I agree. I can relate to Bob. That super human bullshit is nate a trait anyone can relate to.
Sasha was shaped like a bottle. And Bob Stookie only hits the bottle when it’s quiet.
This guy has been a phenomenal actor in everything hes in. He was great in the wire
Love this Video! Keep on 🤍
Thank you so much!
Always felt Bob's story was very good being typical of what I would expect in a similar situation.
Best scene ever "IM TAINTED MEAT "
Bob was my guy the moment he pulled his gun at Daryle after Daryle tried to throw out his booze.
