Haven't watched yet, but isn't it cool how every abandoned location in this universe has stories that were lost to the time of the post apocalypse? Even locations our characters lived in themselves. Imagine random survivors stumbling upon the prison while it was in ruins, wondering what happened the same way Rick and Michonne wondered what happened at the carnival. Interesting to think about. The whole world of the walking dead is a graveyard to the uninformed who may explore it.
we have already seen this sort of, back in S5 they did post credit scenes to tease Morgan's return, we saw parts of his travels to DC, we even see him go to the church i assume days after Rick and co left it, that's where he finds the map that writes '' The new world is gonna need Rick Grimes '', indeed all of the places we saw and will saw in TWD are just graveyards, i bet at least one of the locations we saw in the whole show got re-built by other survivors and it was a strong community at one point in the universe.
i think about that all the time. like did another group inhabit the farm later on after the fall? did another group clear the prison and reinforce it? did another group clear terminus and fix it up?
A couple of my favorite environmental storytelling is the bound and gagged woman in the trunk of a sedan. Another is in Daryl Dixon when he sees two walkers chained together. No explanation, its just ancient history by those points.
I want an environmental story telling that is just a whole bunch of walkers constantly tripping over or crawling simply because their shoes are tied together. We later find out from a diary or something that it was the local undertaker who did that because he thought it would be funny to see if the dead ever did rise from the grave.
i feel like environmental storytelling is a forgotten art, especially in shows like TWD 😭 all of us are main characters in our own stories AND side characters in someone else’s story and it’s important to catch that to add depth. they did it well imo
My own theory is that the bound people we're executed. The soldiers didn't have the intel that Wildfire was in the general population and not just spread by bites. The bound people reanimated before they could be buried and attacked a couple of soldiers. Those soldiers are the ones that were hit with the headshots. Pandemonium ensued. Cats and dogs living together! Mass hysteria!
Good theory but I doubt they would execute that many people by firing squad considering they had limited bullets. It would be more reasonable to use a single bullet each, which means headshots.
was about to say this maybe some died of natural causes or bites the military didn't knew some of them were bitten and in overnight they turned into zombies and unleashed an attack which we can see the initial attack was surprise so no one was ready for it then they tried to shoot those turned soldiers only to fled away and couldn't touch those supplies also due to herd getting attracted to gunfire and the people had to leave cause of it this is only my opinion but I couldn't see any other reason.
@@ginjersnapz9045 I have heard a lot of people say that, then I show them the possibilities. Think: fan fiction type stuff. One of stories stories. Excellent for back stories. Even the fantastical or comedic could be fun. I heard a rumor there would be an episode like a musical. Then Dead City And TWD:DD had scenes with zombie orchestras. We only got 6 episodes, so it wasn't enough to get into it. Look up TWD fan fic short films. Some are kinda crappy visually, but still entertaining story wise.
I think there was a split between some military and civilians who wanted to stay in place and others wanted to leave, with those who tried to leave being forcebaly detained until finally a firefight broke out and since the MRE's were locked away no one was able to get them and since those not shot in the head reanimated and...well as you can see they possibly all died.
@@Man_Aslume that's not a hot take, a hot take is something that a lot of people would find disagreeable or unacceptable. People put nerd emojis for stating the obvious
I think some of the civilians may have also been armed since the snub nose revolver we saw rick pick up likey wasn't something the military would use I know in ftwd the military did go outside the safe zones for specific tasks is it possible that while outside the soldiers thats rebeled would gather what weapons they could find to give to the civilians so they could help
@@wikkano that could be the case although using personal weapons is generally not allowed I have heard instances of them being carried by soldiers so it's definitely possible
That’s always stuck out to me. Because it reminds me of shit my dad would say during hurricanes etc, trying to hype us all up to eat the putrid MRE’s the national guard brought in.
@@BMarie774actually the chili Mac MRE is widely considered to be the greatest MRE of all time to the point that soldiers are actually excited about getting it and some even try to stockpile the MRE for personal use
For my recalling, I don't know if it happened at all in the series, but I would love for the group to find a survivor, bring them in, and let them tell their story, only to realise that this survivor is actually a survivor from a camp that the group went in a couple of seasons ago (like the carnival, finding someone who is still alive that knows what went down).
@@Swell-Films brake pads - make from copper, brake fluid - transmission fluid... Or even make the brakes operated by cables using 2 rear callipers fitted to each side on the front 1 on each wheel in the rear operated by an extended brake pedal to give more leaver force.....
Better yet if they don’t fully acknowledge it in the show and only us eagle eyed fans pick it up. We hear someone explaining to, let’s say, Aaron about how they lived at this high school carnival for the first few weeks of the outbreak, and they detail what truly happened there. Some people wouldn’t even remember that. Some would immediately go “Chilton Fair!”.
I’m watching the series for the first time and we just came upon the episode where Morales is now a survivor and has Rick at gunpoint. He was in the camp where Rick was reunited with Lori, Carl & Shane. I thought this was a great addition!
I like the theory too that it was a rebellion/coupe from within considering all the gunshot wounds on the soldiers and civilians. Ngl, I forgot about this episode until you mentioned it. I considered it to be a pretty small episode but this moment really puts a shine to the episode for me now plus Rick needed the weapons/supplies. We even got the legendary deer🦌🤣 but I liked this story
@@Swell-Films There are so many off set shows that could be made from the main or Fear series other survivors telling there stories... And those stories are the 15-20 year flash forward stories how they totally isolated them self's by not venturing beyond there own walls and no in or out gates aka weaknesses...
They were trying to take the camp. The national guard was able to repel the attack but the deaths and reanimation caused them to pull back because of the heavy casualties. Likely there was civil unrest amongst the population prior to the attack.
My thinking is that the military held up in the high school and started quarantining people in the carnival to better control the flow of supplies. The civilians did try to rise up and tried to break through the fence. That's why there's a soldier smashed though the windshield of a car and another one who was impaled by some makeshift spikes on the hood of another car. The soldiers tried to fight back but ended up losing control. The troops with bullet wounds in their backs might've just been friendly fire as troops from further back could've hit them by mistake
This place reminded me so much of the prison after it was destroyed. I would have loved a web episode where a person would have found the destroyed prison a few months later and then explored. Simply the many questions in the persons head.
I think the key detail to note here are the walkers who had their hands bound. I think what could’ve happened here is a prison break type scenario, similar to what happened in the first season of fear the walking dead. Could’ve been either outside family members or, survivors who had previously escaped the camp could’ve attacked the camp in order to free someone from a certain execution. However it likely failed which led to the death of most of if not the entire camp
as much as i want to make a CGI deer comment i will refrain. instead i want to say thank you for these types of videos and i really hope this becomes a huge series. thank you for the effort you put in to provide content for us 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I draw while watching your vids and I gotta say that your storytelling is really great and it really draws you into the show’s less talked about episodes. Anyways keep up the good work!
Man I love these inner stories. When watching this scene I thought it was really odd ab everything going on, the food etc. Now you explain an inside attack it all makes sense. Great video btw, subscribed.
In the later seasons (i think immediately following the weird covid modified episodes our group goes to a military base to get MRE's but because theres a couple walkers in the room with the snacks, and the fact that our group had to repel down a rope to get in "safely" they left most of the weapons/food/supplies. This proves that the writers are not that keen for every detail, our group was STARVING (it was the episodes theme) yet they fumbled guaranteed shelf stable food/meds/supplies because there was a couple walkers blocking them. You never know why the writers leave large gaps in the plot. Sometimes a boom box playing music will clear out a hostile region, other times they can never return and the supplies are eternally lost forever if unsuccessful the first run
I feel that way about the farm. Would it have been so hard to drive away the horde? At least clear enough to go back and get supplies? I know it wouldn’t have worked for the storyline but it just irks me lol
@@debrabollas9982 exactly it wouldn't have been out of their budget to cgi hershals house burning so that there was a clear reason they couldn't go back, even if all the farm animals got shown being eaten by walkers I mean if the barn burnt and the animals died not going back kinda makes sense
I love this type of storytelling especially in a zombie apocalypse. It makes your mind go through all the emotions of how things went to shit especially since we always follow a group that seems to survive everything. Makes us realize, not everyone is that lucky.
If I was on the props department and wanted to make it a Army V Army I would have given the rebels some "armbands" to make the story come through a little bit more clear.
Really loving these environmental storytelling and the camp fire story videos you've been making. I love that you try to do stuff that's different from other TWD content creators.
I think a spin off that wouldve been nice would be survivor stories of certain events we see in the main show like the carnival, the lady and her husband eddie that rick ran into outside the prison or what happened to the dude that died at terminus that rick and carol ran into
Keep the good work up man!! I love these videos they give a different look on things I'd just would over look watching it. thank you very much for the amazing content
Would be a cool thing to cover in a documentary-esque, in-universe show being broadcast over CR/CW TV and video rental services. "Beyond The Wall: A perspective from the unclaimed lands". A couple of resettled survivors share their tale of the failed coup at an unnamed high school safezone from 14-15 years before. Seeing that cellphones were still being used as recording devices and cameras, we get bits and pieces of footage interspersed into studio recreations of what went down. I'm quite sure there were quite a few videographers and interviewer types that found their way to the super-communities. Put those skills to use!!
Thank you. I really appreciate this content. I'm very Clueless. The Walking Dead had tons of visual storytelling I didn't catch. Thank you for your Art. Thanks for being on TH-cam.
Stories like this would be a good tales episodes, we know what happens in the end but seeing what happened would be cool. Not a lot of worries about issues with the lore because it’s all past tense to the characters and it wouldn’t really impact the overall story just a neat way to expand the universe
re found my love for the walking dead earlier this year and caught up with the main show, dead city, Daryl Dixon, telltale and the comics (struggling through ftwd) Found your channel recently and I absolutely adore it and is the perfect content and great storytelling.
Maybe the carnival was there all the time? Or maybe it lasted all summer/fall or maybe the military showed up and attacked the carnival and the civilians fought back with there weapons they had maybe like conceal carryers
Really would have liked a spinoff following a group of US army solidiers at the start of the outbreak, during it, and also about a year in. Wonder what kind of story that would be like is there ANY chain of command left? Or like a rendezvous when things got hot? maybe follow that up
god i can't get enough of these videos, twd is my long-time hyperfixation and getting new, good content is just skdjfhfhdjsj ❤️❤️❤️ i love your observations and coherent delivery, every video is an amazing experience and a fresh new perspective (for me) and i love it! thank you for making these🙏❤️ ...and as a bonus your voice of course, it's so pleasant xdd
Interesting take on it Ty. I love these videos 😅 Always thought it was the other way around, though. I viewed it as civilians/raiders trying to break into the complex and launching a surprise attack on the military men stationed there. The bullet riddled car being part of the attack, and the tied up civilians as people who’d earlier been detained by the military (possibly the reason why there was an attack on the fairground).
Early on, it's not clear even to the survivors that everyone who dies comes back as zombies. The main group doesn't figure this out until the end of season 2, and it's shown in many cases that there are variants of zombies, some clearly far more intelligent than the others or more self aware. When many of the zombies "come back to life", soldiers likely initially had no idea what was going on and like the Herschel farm people, likely thought they were just out of control people. Them being hand cuffed could easily have been because the soldiers thought the zombies were just unruly or sick people behaving strangely rather than being reanimated dead. Possibly, after many people die and reanimate, they start infecting people and biting them, and panic breaks out leading to mass shoot outs where tons of people die. Soldiers get caught in the crossfire, people try to escape and accidentally kill soldiers or do so on purpose, and civilians and soldiers even get in to a shoot out. Eventually all hell breaks loose and people flee the camps. When the soldiers are executing civilians in the hospital in season 1, it looks ruthless, but they're trying to prevent them from turning in to zombies. Knowing that anyone who is killed comes back to life means they have no choice but to kill civilians about to die of disease as they'll become a threat to others. After having done it thousands of times they may simply be at a stage where it's routine, even though the imagery of shooting the elderly in the head looks horrifying. In the same vein, they may have handcuffed civilians not realizing they were coming back from the dead and thought they were temporarily insane or something, or had rabies, or that a cure was possible. Several groups in the show believe this is possible, from the Governor, to Herschel, to others, and so the logic naturally follows these may simply have been zombies handcuffed. People would still see them as their wives, daughters, aunts, brothers, cousins, friends and so on and not as zombies to be killed, so it would be hard to put them down. A few zombies escape, kill a few soldiers, panic breaks out and tons of people die.
I liked your own analysis on the whole situation! Thought of giving my own spin on it as well: My personnel theory is that the Gun-wounds on the soldiers weren't exactly caused by hostile civilians hosted in the camp, but rather by Rogue Soldiers. Imagine this, you've been cooped up, god knows where, in a dinky old circus, the threat of these walkers only being barely kept back by the oready installed fences, and the resources that were spread out State wise, You've lost communication with HQ, basically being kept in the Dark, your only source of information being the news, and its all the same, Outbreaks of the same shit, from Dallas to Texas. People are confused, People are scared. they aren't sure of the safety of their families their loved ones. Neither are the Soldiers. One day, someone tries to make it out, a mad-dash in their car, shot rang out as they begin to fill the car with holes, only for it to loose control and ram one of their men, his body going through the windshield and breaking his neck, but still living him alive, slowly dying. The Driver is alive, they pull them out and gather all of the civilians, huddling them together, and discussing what to do with them. Being tired, being fed up a argument breaks out, only to be snuffed out by the sound of fire, two soldiers, their mind oready made up went "Fuck it." They shot the other soldiers in the back, then the tied up civilians. then themselves.
I figured it was most likely an internal revolt gone wrong for many reasons. It's possible the military was intending to keep the civilians in place for future evacuation but of course that never happened, maybe through prior orders before losing communication with higher command. Perhaps they wouldn't let anyone leave initially as a safety concern but eventually it made the school seem more like a prison than a safe haven. Add that to a combination of continued false promises of evacuation/rescue, food rationing, demoralized troops/civilians, decreasing trust in military leadership, and heavy handed punishments to those who stepped out of line(arrests and potentially even executions). Eventually it could have reached a boiling point where a firefight took place between opposing sides. In the confusion some people may have escaped but also provided openings for nearby groups of zombies to wander in causing even more chaos. Gunshots are loud, that'd have attracted a lot of unwanted attention. In the end most if not everyone still within was killed by roaming zombies and the newly resurrected dead. This is all just speculation of course but hey. 🤷♂
It kinda gives me ideas like the movie The Crazies. Military sweeps in and round up everyone to try and control the situation while awaiting orders. But family members or neighbors hear about the situation and ride in guns blazing trying to free their captive neighbors and family members and in the chaos people die on all sides, the military are all that remains and they bug out when the dead start coming back. Would explain the lack of military style vehicles and non-military grade weapons among the perma-dead
I think the other ignored mistery here is "why they had a Carnival in the school and it didn´t was tooked off after the military took control. My theory is that the School had a Carnival the same day the military came to took control of the building, and all the events told by Swell happened in just a spawn of days, not weeks. they left everything set because the security zone was working well (or at least thats what the military officers running the zone tried to make the people believe), so looking they still had the tents and games from the school festival set, they decided to make a "festival day" to boost the morale of the civilians somehow in all this chaos. The worst is that the coup happened during the day of the festival, and the rebel military stuff attacked the people and the soldiers guarding the festival.
I think it was dissent among the civilians, similar to the difference of worldviews we saw with Rick and the residents of Alexandria prior to Rick pulling his gun and furthermore we might have had the same situation in the armory when Eugene overheard a group talking about killing Rick, however in this case the soldiers tied up the small group of dissenters which only served to escalate the tension to the breaking point that led to the shootout. Chances are this might have occurred before people realized a bite/scratch wasn't necessary to turn because everyone is infected, so the shootout itself is how the walkers got in.
My assumption is the Military in control there most likely 'lost' their control. They either became way to tyranical over the populace here, started to detain, and withold food, and then the civilian populace just lost it and an entire fight broke out. That's what came to mind for me first.
I wonder if the supplies were left a cache. It wouldn't be the first time walkers were used to defense a static position. Fenced off location, dozens of walkers and the loot wasn't touched. Possibly the group that attacked was either defended off or retreated? Compared to other safe zones, there is a severe lack of actual walkers here maybe dozens compared to others having hundreds. Didn't earlier in the season walkers get up way faster then currently? Trying to defend off a location while being attacked from within by walkers would be difficult when walkers are getting up around you while you're focusing on the attackers and ran out of ammo to retake the location if they retreated. I doubt this was a typical safe zone as well due to where is the actual population we don't see alot. This could very well be planned to eliminate the remainder of a safe zone, as Marines and the Army were practically at war in the beginning. So many opportunities and ways to look at this scene.
One reason why so many soldiers were still armed is whoever attacked them could have been using multiple sniper teams with silenced or suppressed weapons
You can hear suppressed weapons pretty well as it only knocks of a dozen decibels. There’s a few advantages like elimination of muzzle flash after the first shot and it being harder to pinpoint the origin of the gun shot.
I love these stories. Have you thought about doing a story about what happened at the High Schools in season 2? One being the school Shane and Otis went to for supplies to save Carl, or the School that Rick and Shane took Randall to with yhe intentions of leaving him? 🤔🤔🤔
they need to bring back the webisodes now that the show is over! cover things like this so we get answers! would be so cool to get a 5 or 10 minute backstory to different scenes like these
I follow the "the simplest thing" hypothesis. The bound dead are outsiders or scouts, disguised as Civilians hence them being unarmed. They were likely found out and placed in a detention tent somewhere, and when they didn't return, their group came to free them but either died or fled the overwhelming odds. A good a theory as any!
I had thought about all this before and I got to “it was a walker hoard attack, and some of the soldiers were shot by panicked civilians who didn’t listen and got people caught in crossfire. These people were later taken to be “tried”. But the few remaining people left got killed by walkers and then the people who had been attested died”. It was there I was like “meh I’ve spent too much energy considering the 1000 different possibilities here lol. Like damn you can come up with anything really.
The scene where Michonne and Carl are searching a house and stumble across a creepy painting that someone vandalized has always stuck with me. It seemed so bizarre and out of place; like the explanation for it might be simple enough, but that doesn't make it any less unnerving. It's not as if the house was ransacked or anything, someone just decided to target that painting in particular. Makes me wonder what the intentions behind that were. Why did the show writers feel like that was a necessary detail to include?
Okay let's see if I can think of a good theory. Evidence: Unopened food supplies Soldiers shot with rifles on shoulders Military and civilians in defensible location Carnival still standing Handcuffed civilians One soldier killed with car. ---- So two things I'm noticing here. The first is that it seems that the ONLY combat that occurred was outside, and limited to small arms fire. The second is that whoever shot the bound civilians didn't know, didn't care, or didn't have time for the destroying the head rule. I think the guns on the shoulder is interesting because that says to me that these guys weren't just sentries. And maybe a few of them could have rifles on their shoulders if they were just chilling, but that many? Now one thing I find interesting is that this is clearly not something the highschool had supplies for. There's a large slide and Ferris Wheel. That means that there were carnies. And I'm guessing that they ran booths too, not just rides. The two problems I see with your theory are that one, that many people with rifles over their shoulders if tensions were high already is weird. It looks more like the soldiers were on a march somewhere. And two, the supplies aren't just full, several of them are unopened. If you find yourself in a situation where you may be without supplies for a long time, the first thing even a greedy or corrupt military officer would do is a calorie count. Which means opening up those boxes and checking to make sure every single one of those MREs is properly sealed. So here's my thought: When things started to really go to hell, there was nobody at the carnival except the carnies. They couldn't get into the school but they had some food and supplies so they hunkered down. It's a good spot. Later the military came to town, gathered up a large number of civilians, and took them to the highschool along with supplies, only to discover people already there. The carnies let them in and even started to help set up the camp. Civilians, escorted by soldiers with rifles over their shoulders, started to arrive and get ready. As this happened, the carnies found out that they weren't going to be allowed to stay - The camp was for people in the surrounding areas, that's what supplies were calculated for. They weren't from Chilton so they'd have to leave. They naturally didn't like this and they, along with some civilians, began to argue about it. The military commander, already overwhelmed, ordered that any of the troublemakers be handcuffed and taken to one of the tents. The carnies misinterpreted this as a planned execution... And also knew where the guns were, since they had helped store them. So they got the guns and arranged a breakout for their friends. On a prearranged signal, they all attacked at once, killing several soldiers who were still in the process of arriving and setting up. But they didn't know about walkers coming back from being murdered. They might have just thought that you transformed if you got sick. So when someone went down they just moved on to the next target. Unfortunately for them, this is several (admittedly probably pretty tough) civilians against a trained military force. They had the benefit of surprise, the soldiers had the benefit of just about everything else. Headshotted bodies were killed by the military. The others by the carnies. As the military started to regroup, the dead rose again. These were fresh bodies wearing thick clothing, so it wasn't always clear who was a soldier and who wasn't. During this time, the bound civilians were killed by reanimated military, since they couldn't defend themselves. People start getting shot left and right, anyone with blood gets accused of being a walker... Pretty soon it becomes clear this safe zone is compromised. The surviving soldiers withdraw, trapping any civilian survivors in with the walkers. One of those civilians gets their hands on a car and tries to break out, hitting one of the soldiers as they're trying to close things up. Any civilians still alive in the carnival are eventually killed, leaving us with the situation we have - Soldiers who seem to be on the march having been taken by surprise (they thought the carnies were helping them,) bound civilians in one area (having been taken away to be dealt with later), only or largely military weaponry (the carnies weren't originally armed) too many dead from headshots to be unintentional but many people shot in the body (the shooters didn't know the rules) a clearly ORGANIZED attack that took a lot of people off guard (again they thought these guys were both unarmed and helping them) and a bullet riddled car that had run into a soldier (last ditch breakout).
I think there was a shooting at the school fair. This can explain the bullets in the rides. And the reason there was gunshots is because a shooter because there was no zombie bites on the soldiers.
my best guess, this place was set up and civilians were voluntold to stay in place, some of them got rowdy and started getting detained, word spread one way or another of the big bad army capturing innocent survivors in a prison camp and an arm group came by, by surprise, had a shootout and in the chaos there were lots of army and civillian deaths. The gunfire caused more infected to show up and the casualties re-animated, swarming the area and rendering the supplies inside unattainable to the surviving side of the exchange. The surviving side of the exchange then likely fled.
Hey I was wondering what you thought about P.A.D.R.E situation in season 8 of FTWD? Because I’m watching it right now and it is one of my favorites so I would love to see a video on it. Keep up the good work
If I’m being completely honest, I’m not a fan of the P.A.D.R.E. Arc, or fear after the reboot as a whole. I’m not completely against covering it, but full disclosure the opinions I’d give through wouldn’t be very positive if I were to do so. I’m happy you’re able to enjoy what I didn’t though!
Ironically the Erickson era of Fear (season 1-3 ). Something about the tone and story is so special to me, and I adore the Mexico setting. Some of the most creative ideas to come out of this franchise was in the Erickson era in my opinion
It could have been the whispers..since even tho they didn’t know about them they was still around..another reason why you dnt see any ppl laying with guns
A couple of points, if there was unrest brewing it is highly unlikely that so many soldiers would be caught with slung weapons, escapee's would likely loot things like weapons and food, most outside groups would likely loot as well. However one outside group would easily explain both anomalies, soldiers from another unit that was following the orders of cobalt came upon them and slaughtered them after approaching in a non hostile manner and then moved on. The bound people were interogated before execution.
There's some pretty good ideas on this thread. My take on the bound walkers - is that they were people that were considered high risk. Perhaps they had a slight fever or were acting out of sorts. Somewhat similar to Nick and Strand in S1 of Fear. The people were growing paranoid and wanted to leave the camp, while the soldiers prevented them from leaving. Eventually a fire fight broke out, which lead to a huge death toll. In regards the CGI deer, I've heard that they actually filmed a real deer and then digitally added it to the scene. However, it was viewed at a completely different angle than what it was filmed - which caused the distortion. Budget constraints prevented them from redoing it properly.
Adding to your theory the clip of the revolver being picked off one of the dead bodies, supports the idea the civilians were smuggled some weapons too (probably even their own they had to give up to stay there). Since the military don't use revolvers and the soldiers would only be allowed to use what they were issued, it could have only belonged to a civilian. Though you could argue that once ammo started to became scarce the soldier's started using the weapons they confiscated.
I think there was an illness, contracted by either outdated carnival food or waterborne disease. Once people started getting sick, they were bound in hopes they wouldn't harm anyone. Gradually, as the sick began dying off, and rising - that was when all heck broke.
I say this safe zone was overrun within. There was a split among the survivors, one side killed the other thinking they were fine since they weren’t “infected”. They later reanimated and overran the camp.
I’m going to be honest here I always wonder how that safe zone fail and I mean we saw the walkers tied up and shot in the bodies. We can blame the CGI Deer just think about it he was watching Rick and Michonne. It’s surprising that there was no military helicopter because some military helicopters hold big machine guns and there was no police car or no other emergency vehicle in that area. Plus why wasn’t there a medical tent. I know they didn’t have the money but they would have went into the nurses office and try to find some medical supplies for the group. We will never know how it really went down but we must never forget the CGI Deer.
@@Swell-Films If you remember when Shane and Dale went to the school we saw some police cars, ambulance and other military vehicles but the thing is if there was any those types of vehicles at the fair would it make sense to look through those vehicles because Rick was a cop and he knows what type of stuff are inside the vehicles. Once again good job on the video.
Those weapons are in good shape for being out in the rain for several years. The empty shells are nice and shiny, given they too have been out in the open for a long time.
My guess is maybe the high school didn't know about an apocalypse happening, and the military tried keeping it quiet. But by forcing quarantine, citizens wanted to rise up and leave and quickly turned into a fire fight. My guess is, this place went down pretty early and when people started turning into zombies citizens never knew about the outbreak and slowly started to turn. Which led to what ever fight broke out to nobody winning
The fact that the supplies remained pretty much untouched makes me doubt that there was a massive fight over them. I kinda think what happened here took place very early on in the apocalypse, before the destruction of the brain and the fact that everyone was infected became common knowledge. I say this because if it hadn't then there would be way fewer supplies, even if rationed, I don't think this community could have survived this whole time without consuming that many supplies. I think the simplest explanation here is that the soldiers set up this camp. Some of the civilians turned and the soldiers didn't know what to do with them, so they bonded their hands. In the process, some of the soldiers got bitten. The safe zone was overrun from the inside and the soldiers didn't know how to properly fight the Walkers, hence why so many had gunshot wounds on their torsos and only a few had headshots. The soldiers who didn't have their weapons drawn were the ones that got bitten early on. Some survivors tried to escape which resulted in the crashed car. What happened here was full-on panic due to disinformation. This group had a lot of weapons but didn't know how to properly kill a Walker. They knew of the Walkers but didn't know what to do with the infected. They knew how to build a safe zone but didn't know how to handle the Walkers. They simply had no information and failed to manage the situation. It was a case of proper preparations but doomed by ignorance. The only thing that I think ruins this scenario is that it would have had to be a pretty early-on event and the Walkers don't look too old.
Don’t forget they wouldn’t have know by that point that they were all infected and would turn if the brain wasn’t destroyed so they were probably confused and overwhelmed by walkers inside the camp & eventually succumbed themselves
This is one of the creepier areas in the later seasons because large scale survival groups like this were a rarity. You either had stragglers, or active, living communities.
I think it could also be a gradual decline where some of the events are unrelated. I’m also wondering if there was a possible civilian uprising and we just don’t see Rick taking guns from regular people. It could be like in Fear where over time the military declines. The tied up civilians could have broken the rules or tried to escape. It’s a strange scene/environment altogether. I’m wondering why we don’t see more civilian cars and tents unless everyone was housed in the school building. Even the carnival being a thing is weird but I guess maybe the school was hosting the event before the apocalypse started.

Also small correction that’s been pointed out, I mention urban areas at 7:46, when the correct term is rural areas.

The prison would have heaps of weapons left after the battle .
@@stevefleming356 same as this place
we have already seen this sort of, back in S5 they did post credit scenes to tease Morgan's return, we saw parts of his travels to DC, we even see him go to the church i assume days after Rick and co left it, that's where he finds the map that writes '' The new world is gonna need Rick Grimes '', indeed all of the places we saw and will saw in TWD are just graveyards, i bet at least one of the locations we saw in the whole show got re-built by other survivors and it was a strong community at one point in the universe.
i think about that all the time. like did another group inhabit the farm later on after the fall? did another group clear the prison and reinforce it? did another group clear terminus and fix it up?

A couple of my favorite environmental storytelling is the bound and gagged woman in the trunk of a sedan. Another is in Daryl Dixon when he sees two walkers chained together. No explanation, its just ancient history by those points.
I want an environmental story telling that is just a whole bunch of walkers constantly tripping over or crawling simply because their shoes are tied together. We later find out from a diary or something that it was the local undertaker who did that because he thought it would be funny to see if the dead ever did rise from the grave.
Yes! What is the lady in the trunks story?!

@@explorinjenkins349 yup. But I want the story!!!
i feel like environmental storytelling is a forgotten art, especially in shows like TWD 😭 all of us are main characters in our own stories AND side characters in someone else’s story and it’s important to catch that to add depth. they did it well imo

@@coonplatoonhi Ghostbusters fan

Bullets go straight through flesh depending on the grain and cartridge, I doubt it’s friendly fire.

Stories like this would be a good tales episodes, we know what happens in the end but seeing what happened would be cool. Interesting take on it Ty. I love these videos 😅
Always thought it was the other way around, though. I viewed it as civilians/raiders trying to break into the complex and launching a surprise attack on the military men stationed there. The bullet riddled car being part of the attack, and the tied up civilians as people who’d earlier been detained by the military (possibly the reason why there was an attack on the fairground).
Ty, you are single-handedly salvaging the lowpoints in this series with high quality food for thought like this!!! Well done
Great topic for a story. As someone who frequently listens to YT vids about TWD, this is great. Thanks!
Thought of giving my own spin on it as well:
My personnel theory is that the Gun-wounds on the soldiers weren't exactly caused by hostile civilians hosted in the camp, but rather by Rogue Soldiers.
Being tired, being fed up a argument breaks out, only to be snuffed out by the sound of fire, two soldiers, their mind oready made up went "Fuck it."
They shot the other soldiers in the back, then the tied up civilians. then themselves.
Would explain the lack of military style vehicles and non-military grade weapons among the perma-dead
i love these videos so much!! they are my fav that you make.
"it didn't was tooked off".
I love the series man keep it up! Totally forgot about this scene and enjoyed it!
Ty Swell you make content that I look forward to enjoying on my day off; I love your breakdowns. Cheers, friend.
It's not too far fetched to believe a breakout began within the walls creating chaos.
My favorite TWD channel for sure

7:46 I think you mean more rural areas. Urban = city, rural = countryside/small towns
Yup you’re right I messed that up thank you, I meant to correct that but completely forgot.
Funny enough, i was watching this scene last week, hoping one day you'd make a video on it.
Okay let's see if I can think of a good theory.
Evidence:
Unopened food supplies
Soldiers shot with rifles on shoulders
Military and civilians in defensible location
Carnival still standing
Handcuffed civilians
One soldier killed with car.
----
So two things I'm noticing here.
@@Swell-Films what is your favorite reboot/spinoff of the TWD universe?
Ironically the Erickson era of Fear (season 1-3 ). Something about the tone and story is so special to me, and I adore the Mexico setting.
Some of the most creative ideas to come out of this franchise was in the Erickson era in my opinion
The weird deer scene, was one of the most wtf moments, lol.
It could have been the whispers..since even tho they didn’t know about them they was still around..another reason why you dnt see any ppl laying with guns
Leeeeets GOOOOOO ❤ thanks for the video brother
YESSSSSS THANK YOU!
I agree with you... it feels a lot like how you said the theory was!
I say this safe zone was overrun within. There was a split among the survivors, one side killed the other thinking they were fine since they weren’t “infected”. They later reanimated and overran the camp.
Nobody truly realizes the real horror of this part, the loaded magazine's springs 😭😭😭😭
That’s a really great observation. Sometimes I’m so focused on what we do see in the scene, I forget about what we don’t see.
Finally, I looked forward to this for so long
Don’t forget they wouldn’t have know by that point that they were all infected and would turn if the brain wasn’t destroyed so they were probably confused and overwhelmed by walkers inside the camp & eventually succumbed themselves
Love this series keep em comin Swell 🔥
I love these so so much!! PLEASE DO MORE! ❤❤
Something that's been massively overlooked is...
Where are the ninja at? Their absence speaks volumes, doesn't it?
Word!
I love this series
and well, all your videos actually.
Awesome! I'm glad you mentioned this overrun safezone. Thank you for your content as always!
This is basically what I imagine farmers days looks like now
