    I appreciate a shop willing to re-engineer significant components to force things to fit where they weren't intended to, particularly when you want to maintain that stock interior look (though I do hope you guys will pretty up the flat plastic interior panels somehow).

    Looks like a tough job, but good luck with figuring out the drivetrain and engine angles! If you guys are able to finish this and get everything working correctly/solid, it'll definitely be a highly rewarding and unique car.
    Also - This channel needs more views and subscribers! This build is awesome.

    Kinda expected you guys were going to have to fabricate your own complete sump from the block down. Looking forward to seeing what you guys end up putting together.
    Also, I "C" what you did there with the coffee... Clever haha.

    Have you guys considered going from a TR6060 to a CD009? There are several adapter plates readily available and it’s dimensionally smaller than the TR6060. It may not be quite as strong, but perhaps with a little bit of beefing up, it would be adequate. I would think strengthening a transmission is easier than fitting one that is too large for the space.
    Looking forward to seeing the progress!! Good luck!!

      @QUICKSHIFTtv  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great comment Nicholas, and yes we did consider this box also. The TR6060 got the nod for the huge variety of aftermarket parts available all the way up to faceplated gears, sequential shifters etc at relatively cheap prices so we felt this box would be the best platform to cover any insanity we might contract in the future.

    I dont know too much about engineering builds like this, but consider thinking outside the box, theres this guy who built a viper cuda in texas/mx by using all the internals and frame of the viper and then slapping the cuda body panels, they also extended the actual structure of the car by 10 inches, while watching them i thought of you guys and how your almost there.

    Don't quit now! Just found you- don't do FB or IG! Have a life that already wants to limit my car porn- speaking of which...... By the way, you guys in Aus? You were born to think out of the box! Leonardo di Vinci was left handed and taught himself to be ambidextrous; the left is always better thinking out of the right handed box the world (90% of the people) has built! And yes, I am very left handed- but almost as dexterous with my right.

    Well, it's been awesome watching this series but knowing there's a leftie involved.... I'll still keep watching begrudgingly :P
    I now see what you mean about the tunnel! I'm assuming at this stage it'll be easier to make it a dry sump setup?

    • @QUICKSHIFTtv
      @QUICKSHIFTtv  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Easy... right up until the bit where we need to cut so many other cool things out to make room for the pump and tank! All this effort will pay off later!
      Lefty Power!!!

    • @GoldenSlothRacing
      @GoldenSlothRacing 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So much easier with the 4, it all fits in the engine bay :P tuck the tank at the passengers feet and you'll be sweet, but yeah good point not a lot of room in the bay for you guys.
      I think there's a lefty on project binky too, guess it makes sense all you mad engine builders have to have one lefty around for the left-handed bolts! ;)

    Isn't there a smaller gearbox that you could have used?

    • @QUICKSHIFTtv
      @QUICKSHIFTtv  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps not, when our aspirations for power are beginning at 1000whp and could go up from there! Why replace the 2JZ if we're not doing 2JZ++ power levels too!

    • @brainfulify
      @brainfulify 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@QUICKSHIFTtv so I"m confused, a 2JZ transmission wouldn't have been sufficient? Seems like that would have saved a lot of headache to just use a transmission that bolts right in. Really cool project, though, want to see it finished.

    Could you have installed a gtrag 6speed without all the extra work?

    • @QUICKSHIFTtv
      @QUICKSHIFTtv  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We considered this path! The getrag box wont bolt to the V12, and there's no simple adapter available! Its strange but true that the Tremec box is simpler to fit. The problems get even worse when you look for parts to rebuild the box or strengthen it to handle significantly over 1000hp with reliability, or consider dog engagement or sequential options. In the long run, the Tremec box is less than half the price brand new, cheaper and easier to modify, has multiple gear ratio options & heaps of aftermarket support... And it shifts with far more finesse! We consider it to be not only a superior gearbox, but also much more suited to the project in the short and long term.
      Lots of Supra owners here are pulling their perfectly good Getrag in favour of the Tremec, check out the WTFauto instagram for some recent examples!

    • @anilaranmal9190
      @anilaranmal9190 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Incorrect the getrag does mate easier to the 1gz with an adapter! Just because you guys weren’t able to figure it out you shouldn’t put out false information.Why don’t you ask thatfastsupra who executed this platform flawlessly.

    • @anilaranmal9190
      @anilaranmal9190 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funny thing is this swap takes 15 days from start to finish if just installing a stock motor with turbo manifolds

    • @deepcontemplating3472
      @deepcontemplating3472 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct..the v160 would have been simple and easy...this was totally unacceptable...an adapter is 600 buck and cutting a flywheel is 700 bucks...that simple

    Quick question regarding the transmission & engine: how did you know that the input shaft was going to be of the correct length and arrive at the correct spot in the engine, considering that you're using a Toyota bellhousing?

  • @MistRVertexZ
    @MistRVertexZ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not just use a toyota gearbox and avoid all theese problems with the angle?

    • @QUICKSHIFTtv
      @QUICKSHIFTtv  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! It's a common question. Just using the Toyota box alone isn't enough to solve the angle, we would also still need to do heavy sump work to get the engine low enough or move the engine forward which is not ideal.
      But the other thing is that this car started life as an Auto and the original Toyota V160 box is VERY expensive around here!! Not to mention infuriatinly hard to find. Whereas the T56 / T6060 can be bought brand new in abundance, and Magnum versions (also brand new) are cheaper than a V160 second hand, and stronger and better in every way, in our opinion!
      So for the sake of future proofing and doing something that others can replicate easily well into the future, we decided to go Tremec!
      Lots of our customers are actually pulling out perfectly good V160s to install Tremec T56 Magnums as the advantages are numerous!
      ps... the amount of tunnel mods we're doing is exaggerated by the fact we are doing a conversion from Auto to Manual tunnel. If we started with a manual chassis, most of this would have been innecessary. So I think people are a bit misled by how much tunnel work we are doing. I think I could have explained it better in the video but it'll all make sense when I do the ep on installing the manual tunnel section!
      Thanks for following!!

      Come to which shop? I can't find "Biggest Booty Motorsport" or anything.
      We have been accused of disinformation since the very first episode.
      What 'disinformation'?
      This word is thrown around a lot but rarely accompanied with anything tangible. Last time it was accusing us of claiming to be the first to do this, on the very episode (1) where we specifically acknowledged that this conversion has been done before, very famously!
      Seriously, -wat-??
      What disinformation?
