  • Watch my slightly modified version of the Original 34 Pilates Exercises performed in just 14 minutes! A couple of exercises have been left out and a couple added as I played with this sequence.
    Here's a link to a beginner version of this sequence: • Beginner Pilates Flow ...
    Here's a link to a short blog post I wrote about the importance of flowing from one exercise to the next: pilatescape.co.za/beginner-pil...

    This is a perfect video! No unnecessary music or comments. I used to do classical Pilates in a studio a few years ago and wanted a refresher of the routine now that I'm exercising at home while self-isolating. This is just what I needed, thank you! x

    Wow, amazing video! I had a teacher train me in this original sequence of exercises to practice at home. It's 90% similar to yours. Your video is quite helpful. Thanks a lot.

      Hi there, yes you're right. There are a few variations on the names of different exercises depending on who is teaching but the exercise you're asking about is called "control balance".

    why does pilates hurt my neck? esp in 100s

    • @wiesawdeboza4951
      @wiesawdeboza4951 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is because of weak stomach muscles.

    • @Studio2PilatesCapeTown
      @Studio2PilatesCapeTown  6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Hi Carol, it could be a few reasons...
      1) You are not maintaining the height of your chest lift. If you allow your upper body to start dropping during 100s, you'll put unnecessary strain on your neck. Make sure that you are maintaining the height throughout the exercise.
      2) You are not placing your head and neck in the correct position. Make sure you are looking towards your naval and lengthening the back of your neck rather than looking up or poking your chin forward. (I like to think of making a bit of a double chin!)
      3) It might just be that your neck is a bit weak currently and needs a bit of training, just like the rest of one's muscles do. Try doing half of the 100s unassisted with your head in the correct position maintaining the height of your chest lift and then if you start to feel your neck getting fatigued, place one hand behind your head to support the neck and continue to pump the other arm. You'll soon build stamina in these muscles.
      I hope those tips are helpful
      Good luck! x

      @danceflooractivist3561 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Carol. Try doing it with your head resting on the floor - it won't be as intense but better that than an injured neck. When doing moves in prone or quadruped position, elongate through the back on the neck (as though you're trying to give yourself a bit of a double chin) to help strengthen the back chain of muscles in this area. Gently experiment and I'm sure you'll find a way to do the original exercise as described by Pilates without issue. Let us know how you get on. :)
