The 8-12 months is a bit too unreallistic unless you don't have too much to lose. It takes a lot of people 8-12 months just to learn and lots of that time is spent making tons of mistakes, possibly doing too much too soon and getting injured, watching wrong information, trying multiple fad diets, fad workouts, before they actually settle on a system/schedule/routine that actually works for them and suits their fitness preference and lifestyle. How many people watch David Goggins and want to run a marathon and start out and then get shin splints or pull a calf muscle on the first week. The body sometimes needs time to adapt and catch up to where the mind may want it to go. I think optimal results with optimal training and not crash dieting and not getting loose skin around your belly will take about 2-3 years of sllow and steady progress. There's no need to rush things. It really all depends on how fat someone is at the beginning and how motivated you are to change, and also if you have previous training experience or not. Someone getting back into the gym or who is chubby with a muscular foundation underneath who already knows how to squat/deadlift, etc will have faster progress and also already know how to diet will be able to do it quicker than a complete sedentary newbie. And someone like a college student or high school student will have quicker success than someone who is much older (hormones less in their favor) or who has family/kids and more obligations, etc. In the end, if the mindset is there and there's no adverse injuries or underlying health conditions, anything is possible!
Planning extension for me depends on the starting point ... the worse the shape ,the longer the plan ... 1.5 to 2Kg for month make sense... more is complicated
I'm a 29-year-old woman and although the fitness goals for men are slightly different from mine, I want to say your videos really help me. I've been overweight since I have memory, I've been trying to lose the weight since I have memory, I cannot say how many times I have started and thought "This is it, this time is really going to happen" and it doesn't. I just hope I get there one day, in the mean time, people who share their knowledge and experience like you always help. So thank you.
Idk if this will help you or not along your journey but I was in the same predicament you mentioned about being overweight all my life and trying and failing over and over. The thing that I think helped me a lot is realizing you are not a switch you can’t really just suddenly say to work out as the motivation eventually runs out. The best way I have found to overcome this is sleep plus doing the bare minimum everyday. Maybe there are days where I don’t want to go and work out but I can at least do one push up. Be just 1% better than yesterday and eventually you’ll have a full habit and there will be next to no mental effort. I’m still very new in my journey and have only been working out a year now and even tho I wasn’t perfect I’m now ledges head of my past self. The changes were so small it didn’t even feel like changes but now I’m a different person to who I was. I’m confident you and anyone else can do the same and while it’s by no means easy it’s definitely possible. I wish you luck on your journey :)
I had a similar story, and I went to a diet group clinic (something like alcohol anonymous but for fat people, lol) and that helped a little bit (I was the heaviest I have ever been at that time), but didn't work the long term, I lost about 5kg that I gained recently and stayed there for months. 2 years later I had gone mad after I went to the group HIIT training 3 times a week and had a weekend walk and bike routine and followed a diet that my trainer gave, which consisted of preparing all the foods and measuring all the time. and after all that, 6 months later NOTHING happened!!! a lady that was 20 years older than me in the same group started getting abs and my trainer didn't even believe me that I was sticking to the diet. I quit and started eating 1000 cal a day and walking 10,000 steps and that helped me lose 10kg in 3 months. after that, I just maintained and tried running for a while but nothing changed in my weight, just lost like 3cm in my waistline, not even a dress size. I still don't understand (my) female body, exercising does almost nothing, even when I pair it with healthy dieting, and my only help was when I had gone mad and developed an eating fucking disorder, I hate it so much.

My gym is exactly 10 min walking from home so I always play this video to listen while going (yay mini podcast) and it honestly has motivated me so much. 4 weeks in and counting! I dont see big changes yet, just 2'5kg down and I feel so much better, finally i achieved the right mindset (which has been the hardest part for me) thank you for this vid
Keep up the steady progress! In the beginning don't worry about seeing changes every day. Brick by brick. It takes time. I would weigh in or do a waist measurement every 1-2 weeks. Chart the progress for YOU. That will be encouraging and motivating, even if you lose 1/4" off the waist in a week, if you do that over the course of 52 weeks, that adds up!

I lost around 22 pounds but also gained muscle this year and it really takes a mindset reset. I always thought « this is who I am and how I look and that wont change » but it does change. And if you give yourself time you will lose weight.

I have been following your videos for the past two weeks and I have found them incredibly inspiring. I recently just hit the milestone of losing 25kg (55 pounds) and I feel it has required way more of myself than I would have ever realized, and yet at the same time, I am so grateful of this process because it has awakened in me an understanding of my true potential. Thank you so much for this video! It's a real big reassurance for me that I'm on the right path. I've been overweight for so long now, and was always trying to lose weight in a very counter-productive way. I've finally come to the point where I'm learning to accept myself and am trying to make sure I feel confident enough that I dare to take action and truly believe that I am worth taking care of and that I can really feel that I deserve having a healthy and strong body. I get some pushback from my environment, so seeing this video really makes me feel like someone has my back and that I'm not crazy. I'm very grateful for it.

Yeah i think the conclusion of "just have fun" is so great because that's really how simple it can be. If it's not fun the way you're currently are doing it, you're probably pushing yourself too much. The hard part is figuring out why you are pushing yourself too much so that you can fix it.
@@wanheekim And disicpline becomes so much easier when you actually enjoy it :) I think you always can find that balance if you can determine the level that you're actually at and work from there instead of pushing yourself to a level you think you "should" be at. It's very hard to really listen to yourself though and to be kind and easy on yourself.
I used to be really shredded which led me into binge eating pretty bad. What you’re saying about accepting your body in the present is really important. Sometimes I think what’s the point, I’m never going to be that lean or feel that light again, and that’s when the binging usually gets worse as a way to disconnect. It’s about being grateful for what you have and taking pride in improving yourself.
I just recently found this channel, but I’ve been using Noom and retraining my body/mind since last April. I’ve gone down from 230, to 170lbs. Best channel I've seen for this sort of content. I achieved a really great, lean physique in college, but in the five years since graduating I've put on a bit of belly fat that's stubborn and difficult to lose. Made me feel like a failure. I watched one of your other videos a few weeks ago and it really helped change my mindset. I've been working diligently at it since, and not letting small defeats tear down my progress. It's helped me be more consistent, and I've noticed feeling healthier since.

Great advice. If there’s anything I’ve learned over the last few years, it’s to be consistent. Don’t go crazy making drastic changes on the beginning. Slowly make the changes and turn it into a lifestyle. It’ll come.

This is something that I never realized ! I’ve been having a goal to loose weight and just feel better for about 7 years. But I subconsciously made myself believe that I could never get to my goals I work hard loose some weight then gain it all back and that’s what I would think every time. I say it’s hard to eat healthy or I’ll start my weight loss journey again but I never realized I was holding these limiting beliefs. Every time I would say “ this time is different” I would always fail because I would have that anxiety about me not making it. I relied to much on motivation and not determination. I feel like all the points you mentioned can really help me find the root cause into why I always feel like I’m in the circle of never fully getting to my potential ! Thank you so much

13 years ago...after seeing myself in a photo with my granddaughter...over 50 pounds overweight! I went hardcore!.. fish, chicken, beef, broccoli, cauliflower, eggs...lots of exercise.. dropped 50 pounds in 4 months. But I treated it as a 'short term diet' and then it slowly packed back on..I didn't change my mindset...huge mistake. This time...the mindset changed first..long term and consistent. This time I'm enjoying this new life style.
I recently got into changing my mindset and manifestation. Before that I’ve been working out and dieting off and on and was taking a break. Once I started manifesting and changing my beliefs and mindset, working out has come so naturally. Even my cravings are gone and I haven’t binged since because my binges were heavily emotionally motivated. I came to this conclusion some time ago to just accept myself even tho I'm not ripped and shredded rn. I've been striving for a long time now with no time limit. I'm just enjoying the journey up ahead. Already 80% done on my journey of losing 100lbs and when I do hit that goal I'll find a new goal.

What clicked for me was realizing that there is no rush. Taking care of myself and training is something I wanna do for the rest of my life. Before, I saw a workout session as this cumbersome task I had to check off as fast as possible. To me working out was a short term goal I had to go hard at for a couple months. Of course this mindset didn’t get me far. Training became much more pleasurable when I realized I was in it for the long run. I started applying myself more, listening to my body and and began getting better outcomes as a result.
Ahhh those bad familiarity beliefs has been the hardest one for me to be honest and claimed it.. Never been the slim fit person, always had that belly pooch and it's just getting worse, but what you said is true, I never imagine I am THAT person.. my guy, you're dropping some seriously valuable knowledge. I have spent years fine-tuning the mechanism of my thought process on a cognitive level and have been working for years in updating the subconscious level by applying a daily amount of effort with evidence to strengthen that side of me. You have described in such a clear, concise and substantial manner the very reliable process to which long term change is to be applied. This is the blueprint of actually EXPERIENCING the true worth of delayed gratification Props for that.
This video really spoke to me. I am great with strength training and eating well, but I struggle so much psychologically with cardio. As soon as I'm jogging for like 5 minutes, I am flooded with intrusive thoughts. I tell myself I can't handle the pain, that I've never been someone who does cardio, that I don't have a history of jogging, so it's "just not me". These thoughts make jogging so difficult so I give up as soon as I start, which just reaffirms my beliefs. I've recently been suspecting that it is these beliefs holding me back, but it's a struggle to not let them affect me. I meditate daily which has helped me a lot and I'm considering journalling to get to the root cause of these beliefs and squash them once and for all.
Richard, my opinion is that you shouldn’t jog if it is painful. The saying ‘no pain, no gain’ is not helpful at all. Use the walking machine and vary the speed and incline according to your level of fitness. If you can manage 40minutes (build up to it) your metabolism will continue to run at that pace for the next 24 hours. If fat loss is part of your goal, you should move at a pace that allows you to speak (this keeps your body in fat burning mode). I have used these techniques in the past, along with weights and a healthy eating plan, to good effect.
@@margaretgiudice7698 Sorry, when I say pain I just mean the regular discomfort/fatigue from exercising. I seem to be totally fine with the fatigue that comes from strength training, but I can't stand the discomfort that comes from jogging, and for some reason I feel like I'm doing a marathon wondering when is it gonna end even when there's only like 10 minutes left. I think I just need to start small and build up gradually, and evaluate my beliefs to make sure there aren't so many negative thoughts putting me down.
Ok, I understand better now. Perhaps you could find other forms of cardio such as biking, HIIT, swimming or a dance workout like Zumba (good for flexibility too). 😁

Very sound advice. That's where people get the whole "manifesting" part wrong. You have to think from the place you want to be in....not think of it as if it's separate from us. That way, the work we put in won't feel like a chore, it'll be natural. As someone who's always focused on the end results and not enjoying the process due to anxiety,I've always ended up disappointed or feeling like I've failed. And it is easier to be disciplined that way, because the foundation is there...Being present helps tons with discipline. Instead of thinking " I should do this"...we should come in the present moment and say "what can I do about it NOW?" And just do it. Too much thinking fatigues is and we do nothing in the end. Vicious cycle. Thank you for the content you put out.

Never did physiotherapy for my left wrist, so it’s still garbage and shifts, so now whatever I do for my right I’ll do it for my left. Another good video dawg.

Thank you for the reminder of to just have fun. I’ve been doing this healthy journey for almost a year and sometimes feeling so lonely and feeling like I’m in a rut. I started to forget how in the beginning how good I felt when i started losing weight, having so much energy and feeling good. Not only that, it’s a holiday season now and having so much unhealthy foods around me really testing me.
I am happy to see someone think beyond the surface to achieving anything...not just body transformation. I have gone through some physical challenges (surgery etc) and after some 10 years, taken up working out. The line thats stuck in my head from this video is - 'Thank your body for allowing you to do what you want to do with it' Trust me, that is such a blessing. You realize its importance only when you lose that privilege anytime in your life. I am like 30% bodyfat right now, but I am super happy with my body and every additional thing I can do ... hike longer, add a few reps to my benchpress, swim longer .... leaves me so much satisfied. I am enjoying the journey... without trying to get anywhere. Thank you for this video.

I've been overweight since I have memory, I've been trying to lose the weight since I have memory, I cannot say how many times I have started and thought "This is it, this time is really going to happen" and it doesn't. Idk if this will help you or not along your journey but I was in the same predicament you mentioned about being overweight all my life and trying and failing over and over. The thing that I think helped me a lot is realizing you are not a switch you can’t really just suddenly say to work out as the motivation eventually runs out. The best way I have found to overcome this is sleep plus doing the bare minimum everyday. Maybe there are days where I don’t want to go and work out but I can at least do one push up. Be just 1% better than yesterday and eventually you’ll have a full habit and there will be next to no mental effort. I’m still very new in my journey and have only been working out a year now and even tho I wasn’t perfect I’m now ledges head of my past self. The changes were so small it didn’t even feel like changes but now I’m a different person to who I was. I’m confident you and anyone else can do the same and while it’s by no means easy it’s definitely possible. I wish you luck on your journey :)

I had a similar story, and I went to a diet group clinic (something like alcohol anonymous but for fat people, lol) and that helped a little bit (I was the heaviest I have ever been at that time), but didn't work the long term, I lost about 5kg that I gained recently and stayed there for months.
2 years later I had gone mad after I went to the group HIIT training 3 times a week and had a weekend walk and bike routine and followed a diet that my trainer gave, which consisted of preparing all the foods and measuring all the time.
and after all that, 6 months later NOTHING happened!!! a lady that was 20 years older than me in the same group started getting abs and my trainer didn't even believe me that I was sticking to the diet.
I quit and started eating 1000 cal a day and walking 10,000 steps and that helped me lose 10kg in 3 months.
after that, I just maintained and tried running for a while but nothing changed in my weight, just lost like 3cm in my waistline, not even a dress size.
I still don't understand (my) female body, exercising does almost nothing, even when I pair it with healthy dieting, and my only help was when I had gone mad and developed an eating fucking disorder, I hate it so much.

My gym is exactly 10 min walking from home so I always play this video to listen while going (yay mini podcast) and it honestly has motivated me so much. 4 weeks in and counting! I dont see big changes yet, just 2'5kg down and I feel so much better, finally i achieved the right mindset (which has been the hardest part for me) thank you for this vid

Keep up the steady progress! In the beginning don't worry about seeing changes every day. Brick by brick. It takes time. I would weigh in or do a waist measurement every 1-2 weeks. Chart the progress for YOU. That will be encouraging and motivating, even if you lose 1/4" off the waist in a week, if you do that over the course of 52 weeks, that adds up!

I lost around 22 pounds but also gained muscle this year and it really takes a mindset reset. I always thought « this is who I am and how I look and that wont change » but it does change. And if you give yourself time you will lose weight.

You really nailed the psychological aspects of working out, a lot of people think self-loathing is form of motivation, but working out that way is self destructive behavior. You need self-acceptance and love in order to truly improve.

I have been following your videos for the past two weeks and I have found them incredibly inspiring. I recently just hit the milestone of losing 25kg (55 pounds) and I feel it has required way more of myself than I would have ever realized, and yet at the same time, I am so grateful of this process because it has awakened in me an understanding of my true potential.
I agree with every key point you make in this video, especially the visualizing the person at the end and focusing on BECOMING the transformation, not just passively partaking in the process.

I've been overweight for so long now, and was always trying to lose weight in a very counter-productive way. I've finally come to the point where I'm learning to accept myself and am trying to make sure I feel confident enough that I dare to take action and truly believe that I am worth taking care of and that I can really feel that I deserve having a healthy and strong body. Yeah i think the conclusion of "just have fun" is so great because that's really how simple it can be. If it's not fun the way you're currently are doing it, you're probably pushing yourself too much. The hard part is figuring out why you are pushing yourself too much so that you can fix it.

@@wanheekim And disicpline becomes so much easier when you actually enjoy it :) I think you always can find that balance if you can determine the level that you're actually at and work from there instead of pushing yourself to a level you think you "should" be at. It's very hard to really listen to yourself though and to be kind and easy on yourself.
I used to be really shredded which led me into binge eating pretty bad. What you’re saying about accepting your body in the present is really important. Sometimes I think what’s the point, I’m never going to be that lean or feel that light again, and that’s when the binging usually gets worse as a way to disconnect. It’s about being grateful for what you have and taking pride in improving yourself.
I just recently found this channel, but I’ve been using Noom and retraining my body/mind since last April.
I’ve gone down from 230, to 170lbs. It WASNT easy, but videos like this really help me to stay motivated and be more confident that I can make this a lifelong change.

Best channel I've seen for this sort of content. I achieved a really great, lean physique in college, but in the five years since graduating I've put on a bit of belly fat that's stubborn and difficult to lose. Made me feel like a failure. I watched one of your other videos a few weeks ago and it really helped change my mindset. I've been working diligently at it since, and not letting small defeats tear down my progress. It's helped me be more consistent, and I've noticed feeling healthier since.

This is something that I never realized ! I’ve been having a goal to loose weight and just feel better for about 7 years. But I subconsciously made myself believe that I could never get to my goals I work hard loose some weight then gain it all back and that’s what I would think every time. I say it’s hard to eat healthy or I’ll start my weight loss journey again but I never realized I was holding these limiting beliefs. Every time I would say “ this time is different” I would always fail because I would have that anxiety about me not making it. I relied to much on motivation and not determination. I feel like all the points you mentioned can really help me find the root cause into why I always feel like I’m in the circle of never fully getting to my potential ! Thank you so much

Bro your vibe is so chill. I feel like I finally found someone who thinks exactly like me. Everything comes from a deeper and more subconscious level. In all aspects of life. It’s like a therapy would be even more beneficial to someone struggling with an unhealthy diet. Patience, acceptance, no self shaming will result in long term success.
13 years ago...after seeing myself in a photo with my granddaughter...over 50 pounds overweight! I went hardcore!.. fish, chicken, beef, broccoli, cauliflower, eggs...lots of exercise.. dropped 50 pounds in 4 months. But I treated it as a 'short term diet' and then it slowly packed back on..I didn't change my mindset...huge mistake.
This time...the mindset changed first..long term and consistent.
This time I'm enjoying this new life style.
I recently got into changing my mindset and manifestation. Before that I’ve been working out and dieting off and on and was taking a break. Once I started manifesting and changing my beliefs and mindset, working out has come so naturally. Even my cravings are gone and I haven’t binged since because my binges were heavily emotionally motivated. I came to this conclusion some time ago to just accept myself even tho I'm not ripped and shredded rn. I've been striving for a long time now with no time limit. I'm just enjoying the journey up ahead. Already 80% done on my journey of losing 100lbs and when I do hit that goal I'll find a new goal.

What clicked for me was realizing that there is no rush. Taking care of myself and training is something I wanna do for the rest of my life.
Before, I saw a workout session as this cumbersome task I had to check off as fast as possible. To me working out was a short term goal I had to go hard at for a couple months. Of course this mindset didn’t get me far.
Training became much more pleasurable when I realized I was in it for the long run. I started applying myself more, listening to my body and and began getting better outcomes as a result.
Ahhh those bad familiarity beliefs has been the hardest one for me to be honest and claimed it.. Never been the slim fit person, always had that belly pooch and it's just getting worse, but what you said is true, I never imagine I am THAT person.. THANK YOU for helping me learn more about myself and my limitations.

I have spent years fine-tuning the mechanism of my thought process on a cognitive level and have been working for years in updating the subconscious level by applying a daily amount of effort with evidence to strengthen that side of me. You have described in such a clear, concise and substantial manner the very reliable process to which long term change is to be applied. This is the blueprint of actually EXPERIENCING the true worth of delayed gratification

This video really spoke to me. I am great with strength training and eating well, but I struggle so much psychologically with cardio. As soon as I'm jogging for like 5 minutes, I am flooded with intrusive thoughts. I tell myself I can't handle the pain, that I've never been someone who does cardio, that I don't have a history of jogging, so it's "just not me". These thoughts make jogging so difficult so I give up as soon as I start, which just reaffirms my beliefs. I've recently been suspecting that it is these beliefs holding me back, but it's a struggle to not let them affect me. I meditate daily which has helped me a lot and I'm considering journalling to get to the root cause of these beliefs and squash them once and for all.

Richard, my opinion is that you shouldn’t jog if it is painful. The saying ‘no pain, no gain’ is not helpful at all. Use the walking machine and vary the speed and incline according to your level of fitness. If you can manage 40minutes (build up to it) your metabolism will continue to run at that pace for the next 24 hours. If fat loss is part of your goal, you should move at a pace that allows you to speak (this keeps your body in fat burning mode). I have used these techniques in the past, along with weights and a healthy eating plan, to good effect.
@@margaretgiudice7698 Sorry, when I say pain I just mean the regular discomfort/fatigue from exercising. I seem to be totally fine with the fatigue that comes from strength training, but I can't stand the discomfort that comes from jogging, and for some reason I feel like I'm doing a marathon wondering when is it gonna end even when there's only like 10 minutes left. I think I just need to start small and build up gradually, and evaluate my beliefs to make sure there aren't so many negative thoughts putting me down.
Ok, I understand better now. Perhaps you could find other forms of cardio such as biking, HIIT, swimming or a dance workout like Zumba (good for flexibility too). 😁

As you said, fitness and people who advocate for it, advocate for action rather than mindset change. I remember always thinking "yeh but thats not me" and now having stepped into this identity that I deserve to have the body I want, has been the gamechanger. This is important!!
I am so grateful for this video. I think my higher self led me to it😊 I am the heaviest I have been in my life and I am straddling disbelief/shame with attempts of self-love. There’s an underlying sadness/shock when I see myself. It’s very demotivating.

Very sound advice. That's where people get the whole "manifesting" part wrong. You have to think from the place you want to be in....not think of it as if it's separate from us. That way, the work we put in won't feel like a chore, it'll be natural.
As someone who's always focused on the end results and not enjoying the process due to anxiety,I've always ended up disappointed or feeling like I've failed. And it is easier to be disciplined that way, because the foundation is there...Being present helps tons with discipline. Instead of thinking " I should do this"...we should come in the present moment and say "what can I do about it NOW?" And just do it. Too much thinking fatigues is and we do nothing in the end. Vicious cycle.

On my fourth week from a Grade 1 sprain. Left wrist suffered a Grade 2 sprain 5 years ago. Never did physiotherapy for my left wrist, so it’s still garbage and shifts, so now whatever I do for my right I’ll do it for my left.

Thank you for the reminder of to just have fun. I’ve been doing this healthy journey for almost a year and sometimes feeling so lonely and feeling like I’m in a rut. I started to forget how in the beginning how good I felt when i started losing weight, having so much energy and feeling good. Not only that, it’s a holiday season now and having so much unhealthy foods around me really testing me.
I am happy to see someone think beyond the surface to achieving anything...not just body transformation. I have gone through some physical challenges (surgery etc) and after some 10 years, taken up working out. The line thats stuck in my head from this video is - 'Thank your body for allowing you to do what you want to do with it' Trust me, that is such a blessing. You realize its importance only when you lose that privilege anytime in your life. I am like 30% bodyfat right now, but I am super happy with my body and every additional thing I can do ... hike longer, add a few reps to my benchpress, swim longer .... leaves me so much satisfied. I am enjoying the journey... without trying to get anywhere. Thank you for this video.

I really liked the last tip… believing that it’s fun. We can apply this to every day with mundane tasks. Enjoy doing the dishes…enjoy doing the laundry…. This is how we live in the moment happily. 😀

1. Have a long term mind set - "dont think about this summer but the next summer after. what thing do you value in life that you achieved in 3 months? it will be more rewarding because you invested that time and effort. most other people will give up earlier but you dont"
2. Focus on being. change who i am being - align your self identity to your new body for long lasting transformation. Behavioural change (workouts/diets) vs belief change (what i think) vs identity change (who i am).
