- An attempt to explain why the CMR Remastered is a truly awful game. Just stay away from it - it's not a HD remake of the original CMR2, even if it may look like it is. It's just a port of the Android/iOS CMR game and the only thing it has in common with CMR2 (or any CMR title, really) is the stages.
Great video! Codemasters should be ashamed for releasing this crap on PC, is disrespectful to rally lovers and to CMR2.0, is cheap, ugly, and just an attempt to milk the fans. I actually think that the new Dirt Rally should be called Colin McRae Rally as a homage to him. I think he would be proud of what they created.
This "remastered" version is a real insult not only to CMR fans, but to any racing games fan.
I love how "Corsica" in CMR "remastered" has both French and Italian stages... lol

***** I am indeed from Europe, and I've played plenty of rally games, for what it's worth. As far as rally simulation, I'd only really consider Richard Burns Rally or Dirt Rally to be actually called simulation. The feel of those tow games is different (and RBR is quite old now, though the community is still going strong), but I'd think they're both pretty close and a ton of fun, worth sinking countless hours into. If I was to name a third one, it would probably be Mobil 1 British Rally Championship aka Rally Championship 2000 - it's an old game by now and the physics can be kinda weird, but its (real-life) stages and the overall "rally feel" still holds up. It also features probably the longest officially released rally stage in any game ever, the 42 km long Pundershaw.
But I'm also perfectly able to have fun with the less realistic rally games, be it the CMR series, the Dirt series or the WRC series - these games can be a lot of fun, even if they're not that realistic.
But that's all on PC. I can't really tell you anything about PS3 or PS4, I've never owned any console, so I don't really know much about the games available on them.
I'm not much into racing games cuz I basically suck at them lol, but a friend of mine showed me your video; my applause, you got your point shown. Typical attempt of scamming fans of the series, not the first company to try it.

Once I watched this video, I learn the reason why this game get so much hate..everything that you expect when this "remastered" come out ruined. Good thing I still have my CMR2..
the cockpit part blowed up my mind, and I never felt so pissed off by the fact one of my childhood game is fucked up in the name of some kind of HD remaster shit.
I want to add one thing. the ps1 version is even better, the cockpit isn't fully animated and the graphics aren't as good but the physics are even better and the game is faster.

Dead on bro. I was so disappointed in the Android CMR, I picked up on the iffy physics and all right off the bat. I was browsing today and saw the Remastered release, which I didn't even know happened and was thinking about buying it, thanks for the video.

*1.09 plus SilentPatch for proper widescreen and support for modern operating systems. The Sold-Out Software budget re-release already came pre-patched with v1.11, but SilentPatch is still a must.
I prefer clean (not tragic even today) CMR2 grapchics than that overbloomed shitty remaster!
Nice vid bro :) It's true that this game wasn't finally so "remastered" but i think that the programmers put some small effort into makin' it a bit beeter though...For example: they put some new textures( a bit cheepie ones) to the cars and the stages.But the overall game wasn't looking that good...
Well, I just made a little modification for cmr2, all cars in special stages and arcade mode looks like the player car, max details for all cars. Soon on moddb, for CMR2 and CMR04.

No, UŽ to za něj nevydávají, protože přepsali marketingové texty poté, co se zvedla obrovská vlna nevole ze strany fanoušků původní hry, kteří si to koupili. Teď už v nich výslovně píšou, že je to PC verze té mobilní hry a z CMR2 jen "vychází". V těch původních to jako remake CMR2 poměrně hodně působilo a spousta lidí jim na to skočila. Viz třeba původní trailer, který zůstal nezměněný - z něj by se jeden snadno domníval, že to je skutečně jen CMR2 v (o něco) hezčím kabátu.

The Windows versions i can use a laucher for set text localization/language, but with the native for GNU/Linux i don't not how to set it by default.
Nice video, made me think a lot. And, by the way, another awful thing from the "remastered" version: The co driver.The co driver in CMR2 was really good for me. Sounds smooth and realistic. But in CMR remastered, sounds like a robot. "Seventy. Five. Right. Tightens." It's just a cocktail of attached words. I don't like it at all.
Worst thing is the physics and the fact that all the cars only have one side view mirror
I'm going with the obvious choice. The original Colin McRae Rally 2 is better than the remake.
Great video. Something that you could have added is the lame performance of the co-driver. In CMR2, the co-driver's speech is well constructed. However, in CMR Remastered the co-driver sounds like if the words were cropped and simply put in order, not resembling at all an actual speech.
For example, in CMR2 this line is spoken like this:
"Thirty long three right, opens".
Sounds pretty good, but in CMR Remastered sounds like a robot, pretty much like "Thirty. Long. Three. Right. Opens". Seriously?
By the way, DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT THE F*CK DOES THE CO-DRIVER SAY AT 0:27, 0:35, 1:43, 1:55 and so on, instead of saying "four", when the yellow arrow signal appears? Just wondering :P

Might be because nobody really cares about NFS at this point? I surely don't. Also, isn't NFS: No Limits mobile game? This is a PC game (technically).
Creators of this shit on mobile decided to name it NFS, but it's the same deal like with CMR, but it's worse

Well, if it's a game that gives NFS franchise a bad name, then you've certainly piqued my interest about it. Never thought something like that would even be possible at this point.
This is not the game, at least definitely not this what creators promised us (sry for my english if I made any mistakes)(but I feel that I did xD)
So many wrong doings, bad physics, cheap graphics, only 4 cars, 3 countries, bad handling, the cars feels slow, understeer and oversteer at the wrong places, bad handbrake, reusing 2 of the Italy stages as France (sorry for correcting you, you said in the video that Italy SS1 is Corsica but I get it. They call it Corsica in 2.0 Re. Also the cars were not AWD, it is 4WD), the cars get easily damaged and the damage mechanic does not make sense and more.
The release of it was bad thing. I tried to speedrun it, It was not great and took to much time. Might try again later. Such a disrespect to Colin, to his family, to the fans, the franchise and OG 2.0
The Android version is waaaay better because it takes only about 180 MB.
Oh well... A remastered pack with modern graphics of games up to cmr4 would be nice.
Too bad you can't play 1-2 on Windows starting with win8. The compatibility layer is f*cked and they don't give a fuck.
The fourth is best in my opinion. If I were to pick up one to play it would be that one. It has the best physics, but still fun unlike the brutal Richard Burns Rally.
avada There's the Early Access Dirt Rally now. It's already an awesome game and it's a more serious take at rally, despite it's Dirt moniker. Then again, I do consider RBR great fun, not brutal.

I agree! I remember played this game before on my old Samsung Tab 2 7.0. At first, I liked it but now I don't like it that much. It just mediocre to me.
btw, did ya know that this "remastered hd" is actually ios game port , not actual cme 2.0 port, cuz Codemasters developer Justin admitted himself about it.

but fantastic video anyway, even though it was for 5-7 euros on steam at that time, their PR was fucked up beyond belief, thankfully, the re-release of dirt 3 complete edition without gfwl drm shit and recent dirt rally which i tested have redeemed that blunder completely.

It was ok as a game on my iPad but as a PC game the remastered version is awful. I grew up with CMR 04 but I played the older ones after that and I can independently verify that remastered is rather the wrong word to use!!

To sum it up for you: there's really no physics to speak of in this "remaster".
And yes, it is a mobile game port. It has almost nothing in common with the original except some of the tracks.

i don't like it. it overdone too much. I perfer CM 2.0 on PS1 with original graphics. That is how i remember as a child back in the day.

Yes, technically the rally is called Rally Italy in the original CMR2 and Rally Corsica in the remastered edition, and the location of the rally is supposedly different (the CMR2 Rally Italy is supposedly located somewhere east of Genova, according to the in-game map).
However, it's really the exact same rally in both cases. The only appreciable difference is the slightly different skybox.

new gameplay is better, most realistic, I like it,... 4 problems for me, why not use the ford focus, subaru wrx sti and lancer evo, from now, the last versions, second why change the original theme, third why they put the last car as lancia stratos, the best rally car of all time is Lancia Delta Integrale (they should use this car or at least a new car like the Lancia Delta S4 group B), and last why codemasters didnt uptade with more tracks and cars, they forgot the game.......
