I can’t wait to buy this thing in a few weeks. I’m still using my original CDJ-1000’s to mix with. Still burning CDs and stacking CD books with all my music. I recently bought the new m3 MacBook Pro. Since I now have that, I wanted to upgrade my pioneer equipment. I don’t know much about stand alone units and controllers, I was just going to buy CDJ-3000s and that 6-channel pioneer mixer to replace my current equipment…I believe it’s the Pioneer DJm-10 mixer.
However, I’ve decided to hold off because one of these units seems to make more sense for me. Im just a bedroom DJ since 1999-2000. Since Sam Ash in Springfield, NJ is closing I went shopping there and, luckily, I found a Denon Prime Go for only $699 brand new. I grabbed that to help me familiarize myself with how these modern DJ machine work. I might give Virtual DJ a try with that Denon Prime Go. I’ll see how I like the Engine DJ software first. Thanks for this upload. Appreciate the time and effort you put into this. Be well. ✌️

I’ve always been pioneer but this has definitely thrown me the other way now. I love how you say there’s just as much torque as 1210s there so in affect there the future of turntables right there and with 4 channels too!

Thank you nono. I'm a turntable guy first. Controller second. But this is the first controller that has made me think otherwise because of all of the possibilities. During my testing I even hooked up turntables and went 2 channels serato and 2 channels vinyl

My man Yoshi thanks for sharing this with us! Wow since Nov/Dec you’ve been playing with it, I’m gonna have to see if I can sell My flx10 and rock this Rane Performer.
Keep both! It's always good to have backups and other setups. And yes, I was fortunate to be one of the outside testers to go as hard as I could in the units
@@DJYoshiVideos I have a couple back ups but not as advanced as My flx10 so I’ll keep it and then invest in the Performer. Since it’s dedicated to Serato it would be great to take advantage of all the features.

DJing for 38 years now, coming from TT'S, performed for up to 13.000 People - music only, no sports, Sports would be 20.000 plus.... So my 5 Cents... Great review from one Pro from the wild out there. i always watch Mojaxx and Cleveland Terry. you are my 3rd option now. Anyway: Rane and/or Serato will be judged, if this is rock solid or has fails like the FOUR! If it is - rock solid? I'll buy it. Coming actually from Macbook M1 2 TB, 1210's MK 5`s, 2 Mixars DUO (one in spare if guests spills drinks), Dicers, SP-1, 2 x PHASE DJ (for longer performance than 8 hours) plus not only the NS7 i in the past, but also 2 NS7 iii's, testing and definetely NOT beeing OK with the ONE (the NS7 iii's were ahead and far better on the workflow), it might be a choice. If it is reliable 100%, 99,99 % is not enough.
I'm 50+ gigs in. Sports, corporate, luxe events and TV stuff... I love this controller. It's the best thing that I've added to my performance sets. Prior to this, my preference was 2 turntables, phase and a 72. That's pretty much been my go-to since I started in the 90's. This is the first piece of gear that really made me think: what took me so long to adopt technology?

I wonder how the rane controller will compliment a purist like me who's into way back vintage sounds of the 60s Rnb , , dub & northern soul , psyche rock , surf ,disco & early pop . Without making it sound like modern dance ,or trance. Be real creative & isolate sounds . I want to use thet latest technology to pay homage , show respect to the past masters
Does it sound digital? Yes. If you're playing digital music then that's the result. If you play off vinyl, then it's great. Tone is warm and pleasant. I did test vinyl from the 30's to current during my time with it
I didn't even know there was a second version of the Rane Four! When did that come out, and what changed?
the 2nd version of the Four has the Orange writing on it. It came out in late 2023 I believe.

Can you change the display BPM to show 2 decimals?
Honestly that's the first time I've ever had that requested... similar to showing cents on pitch. I'll have to scroll through all of the display settings, but the information displayed is directly imported from serato to the performer screens

How does this differ from the Rane 4 besides the motorized platter? Ty
The fx are a little different. The channel faders are precision feel so they're adjustable
only thing i hate is the square play and pause button.... pioneer needs to hurry up make something
it just needs a horizontal mode for the display in firmware and im buying

Because that's what other DJs use to and have drivers for ....when it's a club and many DJs use 1 controller and 10% use rane and 90 everywhere venue have pioneer @@DJYoshiVideos

Class Compliancy I believe was based off of how Apple prioritized MIDI over Audio in what Rane was attempting to accomplish. IMO Rane will keep on writing the drivers as long as Apple allows them to within their OS to keep the performer in use for years to come.
