Superb review and you've gained a new fan. I actually find them perfect for running. They never come out or feel uncomfortable. I think it depends on your ear shape or size🤷🏽♀️
I've just ordered these to pair up with my Wh-1000XM3s. I'll use the over ears whilst commuting and the need for stronger noise cancelling is needed, and the in ears for exercising, walking etc.
I have the WH over ears and JUST bought these. Love Sony headphones. Though i am worried bc I have tiny ears and earbuds seem to hurt. But they were always the cheap ones.
I own both the WH and WF. Had the WH first and just picked the WFs up today. I think both have a place, and both have strong aspects and very weak ones. That case is so damn chonk. The NC is not as good, and wind shear on a bike is irrepressible. But they are svelte and work great as an intermediate step when the world needs to go away a little less starkly than with the WH units.
So I owned these for two months before the left bud decided to die on me so but apparently it happens to time to time. The Pros are the sound are amazing, best in ears I’ve personally used, but the cons do out weight the pros by a lot. If you use the train to go into work the noise cancelling will not cancel out most of the noise unless on max volume, you will lose connection roughly 5x a day which gets really annoying. The phone call quality is hands down the worse thing about these, it sounds awful for the other person on the call. Finally my biggest annoyance with them was how often they would just fall out your ear (yes I did try all the bud sizes this is the only in ears I’ve had a problem with), walking up or down stairs I would worry they would fall out... and just don’t chew anything because they will fall out. I really did want to love them but the cons got bit too much and when they died on me it gave me a way out, I replaced them with the over-ears and the best thing I did. P.S. If you live in London and use the underground I will advise do not buy them your better of using any old headphones because it just won’t cancel the background noise.
I've just ordered these to pair up with my Wh-1000XM3s. I'll use the over ears whilst commuting and the need for stronger noise cancelling is needed, and the in ears for exercising, walking etc.
My only complaint is how one of the earbuds (at least mine...) wouldn’t connect or work properly occasionally and every time it happens, I have to do a hard reset. The reset fixes the problem every time, which is good, but I wish I wouldn’t have to do that at all. It gets quite annoying... Edit: I have had mine for about 6 months. Got it as soon as it came out in Japan. My issue began about 2-3 months into regular daily usage.
That’s why I’ll not buy true wireless earbuds in the near future. My AirPods do the exact same thing. Besides that, since they are always in the charging case, they burn through their battery cycles and, in just over a year’s time, don’t last half as much as they did when new. Add that to the fact that it’s hella easy to lose them and that seals the casket (to me). I can’t use AirPods on an airplane cause I always knock them off my ears when I fall asleep and then have to go through a mini heart attack until I manage to find them lmao. I’ve decided to stick with over the ear headphones from now on!
I just got the WFs,and they are SO GOOD, the noise cancelling is the best on any earbuds, id recommend these over the WHs because they are way more portable, with the WHs the case is a bit big and you can really only carry them on your backpack, but with the WFs you can just put em in your pockets.. but if you really only care about the ANC WHs are a no brainer...

Planning to buy these. My priority device would be an Windows 10 laptop. Many reviews have indicated that these are terrible with the laptops. Any advise?
Given that the WH-XM4 is now out, I'm wondering if a new WF-XM4 will also be introduced. This review is actually encouraging, and I'm going to pick up a refurbished pair.
I am kind of intrigued by the sound quality of the Sony earbuds. I have the AirPods Pro and they are so dang comfortable when I compare them to my older Jabra 65ts. Sound wise, the AirPods Pro are good but not outstanding. The Sonys would have to be stellar in the sound department for me to switch though. Because the overall experience with the Apples IS outstanding (if that makes sense).
Just wondering, really struggling to pick a pair of headphones/earphones, I know I personally prefer earphones, these sonys seem to be perfect but it seems they fall short as they don't stay in the ear all too well. I'm not sure what all you've used so far but what's your personal favourite headphones (the sonys, QC 35 etc) and earphones?
I sort of allude to it at the end there, but my all time favorite are the headphones, the Sony WH1000XM3’s. The WF’s are great, but yeah, they don’t feel secure enough in my ears. You may have a different experience given our ears are different though.
I use them on my way to work and the office in New York city. They fit perfectly fine, sometimes I need to bring them in tighter when they loosen in my ear but it's not an issue. The newest firmware update added volume controls and these are basically perfect. The sound quality and noise cancelling is wonderful.
While looking around for headphones, I tested the freebuds, airpods, anker buds and this ones. This were my favorite until I had to make calls. The microphone doesn't do a very good job and that was probably in my top priority list. I ended up buying the freebuds 3 which had the best microphone. So just have in mind that if you have some intention to make calls the wf 1000xm3 don't have a very good microphone. Also the box is a bit big compared with every other in the market.
Have you used these for hands free calling while driving? and if so, what are your thoughts on call quality?. Mine have the poorest sound call quality. Ambient noise is just horrible and the ear buds wont work with noise canceling mode.
Dood the headphones are nice I just got them and i also got WH's as well both great but forget the headphones... I'm so jealous of your perfect hair/hairline.
hey dude since you sayed you`ve got both of them,i was wondering, if you put both of them on and turn ANC up..does it make a difference in the sounds that still come through,if you get what im trying to say.
Mark, I find them at times insanely annoying, left side always fall out if I'm moving about. Having to reposition in the ear inevitably means changing the sound mode which I don't like. I have changed the setup mode to alleviate this problem. Don't go near a microwave with them on..huge electrostatic interference. Also worth noting I've found them to be particularly bad when using power tools (angle grinder), instead of suppressing/cancelling the sound they sporadically tend to amplify/enhance which in my experience feel like they may be detrimental to my hearing. If you want to sit in a comfy chair and listen to your fave tracks they have quite a good dynamic range whilst maintaining a flat response. Overall I would not spend this kind of $$ on another pair. Seriously considering AKG noise cancelling on ear headphones (wireless this time round) as I've previously owned Wired units. Anyone reviewed the AKG'S
I know its a late reply. Try buying some cheap silicone ear tips. Mine fell out all the time with the Sony ones, bought some crap ones from Amazon and it's so much better! I can even run in them now!
@@troybooker3534 Seriously mate, I tried every Sony one and none of them fit!!!! I think they are (this sounds odd I know) too high quality, as they hold their shape a bit too well for the earphones to fit confortably. If you just buy some cheap ones, they'll deform and then the earphones are resting on your earloobes as opposed to just the ear tips inside your ears, hope that helps.
For bass purposes it KEY you wear the right buds ffs. I panicked to begin with. I panicked but still was able to pick up how wonderful the mid to tops ends are.. Well impressed.. But yeah, wore the correct buds and my bass and volume worries disappeared.. Very impressed.. When looking for earphones i would worry about the low ratings for water protection and that apparently, they're not the best for training..? I'm a classic gym meathead bodybuilder.. They're fine.. Trust me..
im basic. how do we actaully get our cell music to connect with the earbuds? Pair them with bluetooth? wifi? so we need to have bluetooth/wifi-data on all the time?
I just really hate the LED indicators on the earbuds. I don't see how it's necessary for them to include the power on lights. My Sony headphones also have them. Lights up the room when it's dark.
Great review. Has anyone tried out the mic. I've tried quite a few of these types of earbuds. The mic always starts off alright but after a while the voice clarity degrades
Need advice. I have a galaxy S10 5G. I currently own the galaxy buds and bose SoundSport. I do want noise cancelling buds. I'm looking at these at the monent. I'm on the fence between these and the airpods pro. What do you recommend? I have seen some people say that these have sub par cal quality. The galaxy buds have horrible call quality. The Bose SoundSport are great for sound but I hate how bulky they are. Can you let me know how call sound quality is on the Sony XF1000? Do you recommend the air pods pro over these? I hear great things about the Jabra 75 also but those dont have noise cancelling.
Hey hope all is well; as lockdown is near enough here is in uk due to the Coronavirus, do you think these would be a good choice for someone living in an apartment to block out your neighbour above you stomping around/hearing their washing machine/hearing their conversation etc? If not what would you suggest?
No, unfortunately there are no earbuds on the market that will do that effectively. The over the ear headset version (WH1000xm3) will do that if you are playing music or watching tv with them. I have lots of videos on my channel about them if you're interested.
Mark Spurrell 1 last question can your ears feel warm after wearing them for a long time & I assume it’s near to impossible to have them while laying on your side? As I get woken up my neighbors in the early hours everything single morning & I need the to be comfortable
hi buddy. new friend here and i want to ask some questions if you don't mind asking and i hope i get an answer. can you cancel noise when recording video? what i mean is i want to record videos without having to record noises around. i want to record only my voice when recording videos using my mobile phone. thanks in advance for the replies.
For people who own the ear buds and headphones. Which is actually better. I have the xm4 headphones and I like them but I wish they were louder. Thats the one thing I like about earbuds.
@@ChillMaleASMR I had just got them a few days before I wrote the comment. I love them now and the are loud enough. I just had the adjust to them. Truthfully my biggest complaint was that there wasn't enough bass but thats because my headphones before were crusher anc's. So there's a big difference. Definitely better sound on the xm4 but the crushers really do provide a unique experience. I want to get a pair of the Sony xb900n to see if they're the perfect in between or not.
@@SMH_WOW Nice, that's good to hear! Do you have bass settings turned up in the equalizer on the app? that helps too. I'm getting the headphones tomorrow! (but the xm3's, don't have enough money for the xm4's right now)
I have a long question, hope somebody knows the answer. Do they keep the equalizer settings made in the app on the earbuds? What I mean is this, I walk every day and leave my iphone at home all the time, while walking I listen to music on my Apple Watch, if I had changed the equalizer settings on the iphone sony app would I still be able to listen on my apple watch while away from the iphone with the eq settings just made on the app? Thanks in advanced!!!
I ordered these but send them back because they were so uncomfortable to wear... ANC was kind of a let down too, even tho can't expect them to be as good as headphones. For some reason eartips just never fit comfortably for me
You can't wear them and chew gum at the same time, or chew anything for that matter ! And none of the tips fit in my ears. They keep falling out. They almost need Gorilla glue to keep them in place. :( Other than that, I have absolutely no complaint with sound quality, shape, or battery life... etc.
I dont like how they sit in the ears tho. After wearing them for an hour they tend to just slowly start slipping out of your ears. Anyone that has got the same problem?
sold my wh over EARS, and I'm getting these earbuds today. reason is that the over ears heat up (its summer now here in australia) and the fact that its big and not pocketable nor usable at the gym.
I had the same experience as TheRed. The ANC isn't as great but I only paid £100 GBP (don't ask how as it was a very good uncommon deal) and I prefer the convenience overall. Of course I paid the price of Anker/Galaxy Buds for these so even more impressive and therefore I'm a bit more biased
Not even remotely comparable! Over the ear WH has much, much better ANC. I went to a shop to buy them when they were released, wanting to ditch my WH XM2 just because of the portability, but the ANC was pretty useless if you're used to the over the ear WH XM2/3.
I have both these headphones and ANC on the WH are on another level compared to WF, I've tried the Bose 700's and Sennheiser Momentum 3's and they're impressive but still don't do well as the WH's for ANC in my opinion but don't get me wrong the WF's ANC is good if you just want portability but if you can carry the bigger WH around in your daily commute then definitely go for them.
you kidding me

@@noahjgladwell I have about 12 varying sizes tips (including silicone) that were supplied in the original packaging. Thanks for replying
Trust me..
Hi, I'm just wondering, how shock proof is it? Thank you for anyone who's going to reply. Much appreciated.
You just earned a new sub
Video is top on Google search when I searched for this earbud.
im basic. how do we actaully get our cell music to connect with the earbuds? Pair them with bluetooth? wifi? so we need to have bluetooth/wifi-data on all the time?
10months late...Bluetooth
Very good video mate
I just really hate the LED indicators on the earbuds. I don't see how it's necessary for them to include the power on lights. My Sony headphones also have them. Lights up the room when it's dark.
So whats your best suggestions for athelete?
Great review. Has anyone tried out the mic. I've tried quite a few of these types of earbuds. The mic always starts off alright but after a while the voice clarity degrades
How s call quality?? If we use for work from home calls,
Will it increase sound when you eat or speak?
2:10
or something else HAHAHAHAHA
Oh if u have samsung better try this than airpod pro, u kinda need ur own iphone if u want enjoy pro to its full potential sadly
Remember tho the call quality on this pretty bad lol
Does it support seamless device switching feature like WH 1000XM4?
Finally got these on black Friday 2021 and I got the Vista 2s tryin to figure out what to return rn
Mark Spurrell many thanks for your reply really means a lot. I will check these out. Thanks again
Mark Spurrell 1 last question can your ears feel warm after wearing them for a long time & I assume it’s near to impossible to have them while laying on your side? As I get woken up my neighbors in the early hours everything single morning & I need the to be comfortable
Yes and yes. You won't be able to sleep with either the headset or the earbuds in. Both are uncomfortable when lying on your side
Mark Spurrell daaamn thanks for letting me know. U.K. is totally on lockdown now
hi buddy. new friend here and i want to ask some questions if you don't mind asking and i hope i get an answer. can you cancel noise when recording video? what i mean is i want to record videos without having to record noises around. i want to record only my voice when recording videos using my mobile phone. thanks in advance for the replies.
For people who own the ear buds and headphones. Which is actually better. I have the xm4 headphones and I like them but I wish they were louder. Thats the one thing I like about earbuds.
The headphones are better for sure! The headphones cancel noise SO much better than the earbuds. Are the XM4's not loud enough at full volume for you?
@@ChillMaleASMR
I had just got them a few days before I wrote the comment.
(but the xm3's, don't have enough money for the xm4's right now)
I had the exact same situation with the ear tips
Nice review
This one has very clear sound and good volumne but there is little bass.
Do you know how to disable the location on them? Seems like it needs location everything you want to connect
:( Other than that, I have absolutely no complaint with sound quality, shape, or battery life... etc.
What about Comply foam tips? Probably sound better then too
Tbh, you can’t chew anything with any earbuds/earphones in your ears. It will guarantee fall off. Has been a common issue with early earpods.
For everyone’s information, the WF is now able to be found refurbished for like $120 or so
link
I dont like how they sit in the ears tho. After wearing them for an hour they tend to just slowly start slipping out of your ears. Anyone that has got the same problem?
Do these have that blue light blinking all the time?
Anderson Caviedes Once the bluetooth is connected and they are in your ear they do not blink.
Bought them for a week ago and everything is great except quick connection and phone quality. Gladly they got sold for 100$
I have this and earbuds , earbuds blow this away !
Please make a lava lamp review
Wow, you're fast.
@@MarkSpurrell make the darn review already
Wtf
Give this man a video 😹😹
The commitment is real O_O
O man, I am stuck between these or the wh-1000s. Does the ANC for these compare at all vs the WH?
sold my wh over EARS, and I'm getting these earbuds today. reason is that the over ears heat up (its summer now here in australia) and the fact that its big and not pocketable nor usable at the gym.
How are they for sleeping on your side?
Like most earbuds, not great. You’ll push them further into your ear canal and it won’t be comfortable.
Nice review... cool
Great Video man. Do you think that i should change to these from my old Sony MDR XB950 with noise canceling
