It’s him and his wife, there was another member. But he committed suicide. The song “Carry on” is about telling people thinking of doing that to carry on and not to give up. His song “end with you “ is for his wife who stayed with him through his drug addiction. “Hell’s canyon “ could be made into a western movie. Benjamin Tod is and amazing song writer.

There are so many good GemsOnVHS to recommend. Matt Heckler featuring Benjamin Tod - "Blue Eyes Dancing" is one. Another would be Jason Dea West (a former bandmate of Benjamin's) - "Lone Wolf". I could list so many but I'll stop at those two.

September doves is a great title. Here in Tennessee dove season opens on September 1st so all the young and inocent doves get killed in September. I think it is him just saying we had no chance life was just going to happen to us.

We are witnessing legends in the making. Ben has the spirit of punk rock. That's that edge you are hearing. I love seeing people fall in love with Lost Dog and Ben's other music. Good pick bud. Ben's lyrics hit so damn hard. He can take such a seemingly simple melody and make epic greatness with his poetry.
I sense Elliot Smith influence right next to Townes and Guy Clark.
If you are not familiar with Elliot Smith, check out the song called "between the bars" Elliot was one of those once in a generation songwriters.

I listen to a lot of punk artists after they go acoustic and you’re dead on…that’s the emotion in his voice and the way he expresses things, different than a lot of country/Americans/folk singers.

Digging your videos and I like the path your going on with Childers, Colter, and Benjamin Tod... there are so many others too and I look forward to you getting around to them. A couple I’d like to throw out there. Emily Scott Robinson is one of them... my personal favorite of hers is “Overalls” “The Dress” and “Run” are also good places to start. The other one is Ian Noe... “Irene (Ravin’ Bomb)” “Letter to Madeline” and “If Today Doesn’t Do Me In” are all solid, but really anything off his album “Between the Country” is some real good stuff. Appreciate the work you put into the videos and keep em’ coming.

Me and my wife have seen benjamin todd (Lost dog street band) 5 times in the last two years. I wish someone would just do a sit down interview with him and her. And ask him where does this music come from. I mean my wife and I know because it's clearly being said through the lyrics. And we've lived it. We dealt with my addiction issues and Benjamin's music played a huge roll in getting us through it. I just wanna hear their story.

I don’t see it as uplifting but possibly hopeful in face of life’s issues. “We could choose any old road and start again, but circumstances shot us down like September doves.” So I guess admitting they have been shot down but they can start again. In a way it is the we may not be perfect but we are perfect for each other if we can hold on sort of vibe I get. Thanks for the reaction Burt!
