I lost my best friend last year and this song is one of my favorite memories witth her. She was always there til the very end, even when I was drunk and wasn't worth being around. Circumstances shot us down like september doves. I'll always wish i could go back and be sober and in the right mind to cherish those moments.
My best friend just died 3 nights ago. He introduced yall to me when I was hitting my hardest times. Recovery. Y’all definitely know how to hit the heart strings and I relate . Y’all’s music will forever keep my brother in my heart with a beat.
I rewound every line back at least 5 times. I needed to reflect on that shit. So much in this song. I relate in some way to every single word maybe more than any song. It's my heart song absolutely beautiful and genius. That's some Robert frost stuff. Like woah! But Robert frost didn't have a bass drum in all the right spots. You guys rule. The melodies are funky and different. So rad. Haha. Love all of it.
I've watched it dozens of times and it feels like this song is trying to tell me something and I can't figure it out. Between the music, their clothing style, lyrics, and just every thing, it's like this song was the thing I needed in my life.
Same thing here... I've been incessantly listening to these kids since New Year's Eve. I met up with a friend to go and see DM3 in Santa Cruz, and these kids opened up. I'd never heard a single thing by them or about them, and I'm more obsessed with them now a coupla weeks later than I've ever been with a band or artist. They sing the stories of my adolescence and twenties. To a tee, they encapsulate my life, my thoughts, my heart... It's surreal.
Found this track while grieving the end of a mutually agreed break up of a relationship that me and my ex both knew had to finish.... it's so fitting it hurts. I'm still very much in love with her still. Luckily were still very close friends. With the little Ive read about Bens history on top I find their music painfully relatable
Its haunting in a way I cant ever put my finger on. Like its hopeless and its not at the same time. Totally worn down but also full of energy. Ive tried to explain to people what this song means to me and always fall short.
I can't listen to Benjamin without breaking down.. No matter the tune. Raw, honest emotion is sooo HARD to market for some unearthly reason... I'll never understand that... Hard truths always make for the best song material
What I would give to sit down and talk and play with this man... Been a huge fan for years now and it never gets old, as a 23 year old born in the wrong time it makes me happy to know there are still people like this out there!
My great grandfather is buried in that cemetery in Madison. It's the US Military graveyard near Nashville I noticed it right away! He fought in World War 2. He was mean as a rattlesnake, but called me Peeper bc my eyes were so big as a baby. I miss him. So awesome that the graveyard he's buried in is in one of my favorite songs.
I love how you can see in his face in his eyes and everything about him that he really really believes in what he's singing it's very very very rare that you find that. these guys are awesomeness!!!
This song is so real, so relatable on a real human level, that if more music like this was played on the radio, more kids would appreciate country up north and elsewhere and not write it off as "old folk's music". Good non-commercial country music isn't played on the radio
For context, I'm 28 and live in Toledo, Ohio 😆 and people here only seem to appreciate Toby Keith type country. but my worldview's pretty limited and hopefully I'm selling my hometown short

She saved my life that night, and gave me a reason to live. I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm sure of everything he wanted to leave, you weren't one of them.
I've come back to hear this song at least a hundred times. I can feel it in the way you look at me. Lost Dogs, Your spirits enthrall me, your words give my heart power to push through. Peace be with you all.
Ok so I just found these guys today. I must say I love them. They are keeping alive a sound that I thought was gone a long time ago. Being raised by my grandmother I heard a lot of this type of music. Every family reunion all the old schools would get out their instruments and play. This right here brings back memories.
"my grandmother's lullabies used to sing me to sleep. Hell I Can't Sleep now a days without liquid relief. If lullabies were whiskey, my grandma's drinks were cheap. I can't afford sleep anymore" that shit heavy.
Idk how to explain the way that kick drum makes me feel? At least as far as I know. But I think it is the randomness maybe. Like it's not complete random but it's not played as a pattern. It comes in and suddenly stops in odd but awesome moments that keeps me on the edge trying to time it perfect coming in and going out. I actually look forward to it unlike literally any other tune I have listened to EVER. And that it a big shoe to fill.
This is the type of music that touches your soul. Some may say too basic but you don't need much when it's that good. Absolutely love it. This is what country music is not the garbage you hear on your radio stations

The beautiful thing about this song is that anyone who's been thru addiction, and loss, and heartbreak will find the lyrics and melody intertwine perfectly with their lives in ways most songs never will. Ben and Ashley really know how to make music for the people society forgets about
I was clean off opiates for 8 years and had an amazing life. Relapsed in September and lost everything. My girl, my home, my cats, my guitar..now I cant sleep unless I've done a gram of heroin and I'm trying everyday to get clean. This music that I've loved for years gives me hope everyday

It still reminds me of the taste of hope.
The question is why wouldn't you 🤷🏼♂️
He’s like the old time country and folk singers. His lyrics are dark, but they’re real.
I couldn't tell you how many times I've listened to this song and every time it feels like the first time.
There was a very sacred place back where I grew
Between three old pine trees that nobody knew
I'd close my eyes and pass the time like youngin's often do
But now I'm long gone, completely ruined
Darlin' you and I were made for many different things
To live and learn and lie and life, fight and dance and sing
But our hearts have been so battered by the things that we have seen
And I can feel it in the way you look at me
Chorus:
We could pick any old road and start again
Hell, we could change our names and try to forget
Lord knows I'll be sorry when it's done
But circumstances shot us down like September doves
Circumstances shot us down like September doves
My grandmother's lullabies used to sing me to sleep
I can't sleep nowadays without liquid relief
Well if lullabies were whiskey then my Grandma's drinks were cheap.
I can't afford sleep anymore
We were never made for love our souls are far too old
But loneliness needs company and a lost dog needs a home
So you will be the fire and I will be the coal
Baby we can burn out of control
Chorus x2
damn what a songwriter letme tell ya its costly and hard on a soul to get to where u can write it all down but if u can live through with a clear mind
matthew sawyer absolutely
Josh Rivera thank you! I think it's "lie & laugh" though :)
Danke
Are these official per Ben? Sounds like "We were never made for love our souls are far to ruled" not old. Beautiful song I get you brother!
Sounds really pleasant to hear, but, at the same time, extremely painful. Just like life itself.
Thanks Lost Dog for this one
Wow this song is awesome ❤
You ain't wrong
My dad introduced me to these guys! I love it! My 14th birthday was yesterday and I am happy to be alive!
This song and Terrible and True touch every single part of my soul, somehow. I feel these words so profoundly.
So touching to my old soul heart. His voice moves my spirit and her fiddling gets my into my past.
We are merely vessels, though some of us have been deemed channels to alleviate. Whosever up there has touched these people to give us relief.
We see you and appreciate you. 💜❤️
Real country is not dead. It lives on call it what you will.
Hey, Thanks! I will let them know you said that! They are my aunt and uncle- if you don't believe me go to my tiktok, @maddi_grrl☺
So sorry for yr loss 😢
Thanks y’all. Keep on truckin
@@justinblankenship8221 Hope you're doing well!
That lady is cool, diggin her vibe, great song mate, you guys make country cool again. Australia here ❤
It’s talent when two people sound like a 5 piece band. And ur words actually make sense. Born with talent.
Love this song, this is REAL music.
this song gives me feelings ive never had before… pure chills
Judy Jetson where the fuck do girls like exist in my city?. At least they dont show it or present it.
FORREAL YO
What I would give to sit down and talk and play with this man... Been a huge fan for years now and it never gets old, as a 23 year old born in the wrong time it makes me happy to know there are still people like this out there!
Can't tell you how glad I am I found Lost Dog Street band...quite by accident...or was it?? Everything happens for a reason. You speak to my soul
Jill Asbill I had the same awakening 2 yrs ago. My life has changed 100%.. I know I’m not alone on this earth anymore...
Found them by accident back when their vids were getting 3 likes. I'm glad to see so many finding them. Most amazing music
@@josephfriend7442 I knew them when they had 1 like. And it was my like
@@MrWackozacko I knew them before they were even thought of!! Met there moms and talked to their bellies.
“I can’t afford to sleep anymore” I love that. Summed it up.
That drum is my heartbeat.
9mmDentalPlan You may need to go to the doctor.....pretty spaced out lol
This is one of my all time favourite songs. Looking forward to whenever they can come to Australia!
Whoa! Who are they?! What is this channel??!!! Wow, what a discovery!!!! Thank you, algorithm!!
Where has this been my whole life. I lost my beautiful wife 3 years ago . If I could see her one more time, I would play her this song
I lost 6 people after the vaccines too.
As a recovering addict, loser of love and trying to maintain, this soothes my soul. I love these guys!!
Im trying so hard Amber, god damnit I am. My eyes can not cry anymore tears.
@@jeremiahprice2906 I am proud of you for the feedback and authenticity, and I too live with a deeper feeling in my soul thanks to this music.
@@AmberSkye369, thank you for the kind words, if you only knew what and how they affected me. I would try, I promise you that, however, that is not our reality. I wish you nothing but the best friend!!!!
@@jeremiahprice2906 For some of reason I know but we all have our stories and travel pur own paths. This music though, these words connect kindred spirits in ways that cant be explained. I know my life is more fulfilled thanks to the talent and soul I hear when I listen to this music, even when I can only replay it in my mind.
Hey, They are my aunt and uncle :) And ashely's brother (My dad) Tyler is also a recovering addict
That second verse always gets to me. “And I can feel
It in the way you look at me”
Wild the sounds that 2 human beings can bring to this cold cold world.
🗽
I would kill to see these two live, thanks for at least putting them here.
The Cloverdale Kid they're on tour with the devil makes 3 right now
Kyle Buckland and this fool totally
missed them. 300 mile drive but yeah. Feeling dumb
I actually went to a Devil Makes Three concert on Wednesday night and heard this band for the first time. They actually opened with this song. Anyways, they were awesome and I immediately came home and looked up more of their music.
The Cloverdale Kid I bought tickets for when Devil makes 3 comes to philly JUST to see lost dog. These guys rule
Missed them in Santa Cruz and it is killing me. Great band.
I've been a junkie on and off for 20 years. This song means a lot to me And when I relapse and hear the line..despise the man in the mirror hits like no other. I appreciate you and your music. Ty brother
Hope your on the off part and never go back to the on
Bro. He’s keeping the beat on the foot pedal, playing guitar, AND singing. Jesus
I forget what video it was, but he was playing guitar, playing harmonica, playing a foot pedal for a drum on his left foot and a foot pedal for a high hat or tambourine on his right foot. ALL WHILE HE WAS SINGING. Its insane
Just found it, its them covering waiting around to die by townes
Most folks don't understand how hard it is just to keep timing while playing and singing
Lost of love and appreciating from an Irish man in beautiful Colorado. This is music. 🇺🇸 🇮🇪
Great song well done
My girl wanted to play this song at our wedding. She’s gone but this song still makes me happy in a way
Can they please have a concert with Tyler Childers, Colter Wall and Charlie Crockett??
and shawn james, and the dead south. so many good ones
Tyler and these 2 are way more real than colter or dead south .
@@Johndoe-gd4tb dead south is yankee garbage but colter wall is solid.
@john cox the dead south and Colter wall are both from canada you waste of oxygen.
@@MrAwsomeshot So? I would be more into the Dead South if I liked shitty music, I guess. Canada is just Yankee with a side of syrup. Fuck yourself bloody.
“And a lost dog needs a home” that made me tear up. Good song.
I tear up almost everytime I listen to an artist Anthony shares with us
The person who introduced this song to me meant a lot to me for a very brief window of time. Every once in a while, this song pops into my head and I remember singing with him in the car as he drove us to whatever destination we had.. never knowing it would be over as quick as it began.
I hope he doesn't share this song with everyone who comes into his life.. this is one of those that I would rather hold close to my heart while I try to remember the good in him.
I hope meth hasnt taken your life yet Justin.
Circumstances shut us down like September doves..
met him jumping a train in Whitefish, Montana the day before yesterday. Sounded like he needed some time on the rail.. Talk about an animal in it's environment.
This isn't normally my type of music, but this is an amazing song. I can't stop listening to it.
God, this was my late husband and I's song. He died intentionally(although I'm sure part of him wasnt really trying to leave yet..) with a needle in his arm listening to lost dog.
I miss him so much.
So you will be the fire and I will be the coal, baby we can burn out of control...
Damn, sorry for your loss. I hope you're okay x
Sending love❤️ I hope things are well for you

I was a heroin addict for almost 10 years. The only thi g I wanted more than to be clean, was to just go forever. I died once, and my now wife found me. She saved my life that night, and gave me a reason to live. I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm sure of everything he wanted to leave, you weren't one of them.
Real, country, music
I've come back to hear this song at least a hundred times. I can feel it in the way you look at me. Lost Dogs, Your spirits enthrall me, your words give my heart power to push through. Peace be with you all.
Our tapestry is woven with threads of soul.
This will always be my favorite because it was the first one for me. Gonna miss you guys
miss you guys? how do you mean
@@rsykaiskinner4350 they are on an indefinite hiatus from touring. Not retired or dead or anything like that haha.
The way she looks at him at 3:41 ❤️😭
He is her fire.
Ok so I just found these guys today. I must say I love them. They are keeping alive a sound that I thought was gone a long time ago. Being raised by my grandmother I heard a lot of this type of music. Every family reunion all the old schools would get out their instruments and play. This right here brings back memories.
Music.Whiskey, beer and a golden Lab. Sounds like heaven to me... Love you two...
"my grandmother's lullabies used to sing me to sleep. Hell I Can't Sleep now a days without liquid relief. If lullabies were whiskey, my grandma's drinks were cheap. I can't afford sleep anymore" that shit heavy.
But Our hearts have been so battered by the things we have seen and I can feel it in the way you look at me...
Nice, very, very nice! You have my heart! Tom from Czech republic
im lana from the czech republic. my parents moved to the states to give me a better life.
glad for you, welcome!
i wonder if there's anyone else in poland who likes their music maybe im not the only one haha
This is the type of music that touches your soul. Some may say too basic but you don't need much when it's that good. Absolutely love it. This is what country music is not the garbage you hear on your radio stations
This is the first time listening to this song, and I can’t stop listening!it gets to my bones! Real country music!❤❤
I just found you guys, totally awesome, will be a fan for life, best music ive heard in a while
My God....this is music man. This is music
I just want yall to know that yalls music has helped me through some of the darkest times in my life. It soothes the lonesome in my soul. Keep makin the good stuff for us lost dogs.
I hope you have found your way
The beautiful thing about this song is that anyone who's been thru addiction, and loss, and heartbreak will find the lyrics and melody intertwine perfectly with their lives in ways most songs never will. Ben and Ashley really know how to make music for the people society forgets about
My only faith in modern music has been restored by you and your wife , lucky man and lucky us , thank you lots of love from scotland
Absolutely feel related on every single verse and string. Thank you for writing this, I really appreciate it.
Man, when he's talking about not being able to afford sleep anymore.... That hit real deep...
It sank
I was clean off opiates for 8 years and had an amazing life. Relapsed in September and lost everything. My girl, my home, my cats, my guitar..now I cant sleep unless I've done a gram of heroin and I'm trying everyday to get clean. This music that I've loved for years gives me hope everyday
@@junebug313 brother, if you did it once you can do it again. I believe in you

I don’t make comments often but this song moves me. I hope more will be introduced to this duo. Simply beautiful.
