Shocking New Therapy For Stroke Recovery

- About every 40 seconds, someone somewhere has a stroke. Every four minutes, someone dies from a stroke. They can strike anytime and affect anyone.
Now scientists at the University of Texas at Dallas are studying a new way to help stroke survivors regain any physical abilities that were lost after a stroke.
Daniel Hulsey, a Ph.D. student of cognitive neuroscience at UT Dallas said, “We want to be able to restore that function by restoring circuitry in the brain.”
To accomplish this, researchers turned their attention to the vagus nerve, the nerve that tells the brain how the body is doing.
“When you stimulate this nerve, you send a signal up into the brain that [indicates] what just happened is really interesting and important,” said Michael Kilgard, a neuroscientist at UT Dallas.
When electrical pulses stimulate the nerve, the brain releases chemicals from different areas and essentially re-organizes itself. This enables the brain to learn new tasks.

My brother would like to be a part of your study for adults. He has suffered for two years since his stroke. His left side has severe neuropathy. He is young. I want to see him recover. Please reach out to me. He lives in SM, CA
Would like to know what physical activities could stimulate the vagus nerve. Just doing vagal compression like leaning forward holding full breath and pressing down? Physical activities would be less invasive than a probe insertion.
Ujayii breath
So any update this research
do you guys do treatments in the pacific islands?
My Husband had also a stroke . His left arm and legs are paralyzed. He can recognize me but he cannot talk. Doctor said he cannot recovery to move again and to walk again. Please reply me what kind of surgery
he needs a physical therapist and occupational therapist
What they are talking about is by stimulating vargus nerve it helps brain to fix itself, traditional therapy works but with vagus nerve stimulation, recovery will be quick.

Wykikii Is Here . I have read anecdotal comment from a stroke patient that VR specifically 6 degrees of freedom like an oculus rift or HTC vibe allows the person to see normally in VR environment. Don’t know long term effects. Next spring the oculus quest arrives and it’s stand alone... doesn’t need a powerful computer to works. It’ll cost $400.
Stimulate your vagus nerve it will help
I too suffer from it
@@mui25 could you please share how to do that exactly?
How to sign up

So where do you go for this therapy? Nice you tell us Stroke victims about it! But shouldn’t you at least tell us where to look for it. Not all can go to just one Lab.
I'm an acupuncturist and treated both my parents after a stroke with great results. It is simple to do. I did it in my second year of acupuncture school when my dad had his stroke.
