I had 3 albums by P.T. on March 20th 2022. Today is August 17th 2023. Now I have # 41 albums by P.T. and # 6 albums by S.W. my favorite band for life.❤❤
Glad you’ve been enjoying Porcupine Tree so far! Fear of a Blank Planet does make the most sense for the next album indeed. It was released next after Deadwing and, along with In Absentia, is one of their biggest albums.
To answer your question : yes, Steven is the main singer and singing on every song that occured, he's just very versatile. And i've told you, The Start of Something Beautiful is one of my personal TOP 5 PT songs of all time, that crescendo is something else
When you talk about the soundscapes and layering in the music, Steven has said that sound is very important to him in interviews. He is very detailed. Combine that with keyboardist Richard Barbieri (from the band Japan in the early 80's), who is a master at it, and no wonder it is so good. These are things that many listeners do not pick up on, but I've noticed you do a good job noticing these small details.
Always happy to see fresh content from you, especially Porcupine Tree. Your reactions come off as sincere and genuine which makes it all the more enjoyable. You should also check out Hatesong (live), Shesmovedon, Russia on Ice, and Voyage 34, they're all PT classics.
Bravo! "The Start of Something Beautiful" is my favorite PT song, especially the live version. That live version and the one for "Arriving Somewhere but not Here" are must watches.
Seconded. I'm one of the seeming few who consider Steven's solo work, especially The Raven and HCE, as superior to his ventures in Porcupine Tree, and it's a real shame that it doesn't receive more exposure for that reason.
Glad you enjoyd Deadwing. Next must be "Fear of a blank planet", my favorit. The guitar efx you asked for (not sure, i'm not a guitarplayer) but i belive it is a "Tremolo".
Really nice reaction, just little advise: If you recognize that you are into a bridge part which is gonna launch a solo or something like that, let'it finish before pause, or you lost "all the magic ". Another great reaction may be "Anesthetize - live" (really suggested the live video also)
You definitely need to listen bonus track for this album! Its called “Half-Light”. Just watch a live version, its a pure magic and heaven. Also, Steven has a great solo works, “The Raven That Refused To Sing”, “Hand Cannot Erase”. And, especially, “Fear Of A Blank Planet”, atmosphere through the album is just dark, deep night. Beautiful. Sorry for my English, Im from Russia
Your comment about “feels like the first time doing heroin” makes me think you should check out PT’s Voyage 34, a concept album about the first time someone takes a bad LSD trip.
Glass Arm Shattering is so underrated. Just takes you on a journey to an entirely different serene place
The audio equivalent of a credits scroll in the best way.

Open Car Live is insanely good. An added "breakdown" section in it really goes hard.

Good review Sir.
Good to see you bro, would suggest you to listen to The Raven the refused to sing by Steven Wilson. Love from India

I agree so much Porcupine Tree AND Steven Wilson solo work for him to look forward to❤. Btw your English is just fine 😘. Greetings from Denmark
Hand Cannot Erase and The Raven are masterpieces. So good!
Russia On Ice 👌
Very happy to see this wrapped up and can't wait for more. I'm not massively into Deftones yet but their first album Adrenaline goes so hard.
Do fear of a blank planet bro, is pure gold.

You should check out the live version of Open Car.
