EASILY my favourite band - possibly my favourite ever at the rate things are going. They're pretty much unsurpassed in the inventiveness and creativity - particularly on their early albums. I was chuckling all the way through your reaction to the Cockroach King - partly because of the expression on your face and my knowledge of what was coming! Every single album of theirs is packed with fascinating twists, subtle elements and is basically a musical journey.
I loved everything about this! Thank you for not only listening to one of my favorite albums ever, but for giving (in my opinion at least) more than just a surface-level reaction and touch more on the actual music and composition and musicianship of the band! Those types of reactions are rare, and I greatly appreciate that you did incorporated that into your commentary. ^_^
A lot of prog rock nowadays express feelings, discuss the state of the world, politics, mental health, etc... Haken do all of those things, but in the tradition of the first prog rock bands like King Crimson, Yes and Genesis, rolling them all up into fantasy stories designed to dissarm the casual listener. Amazing band, their next album will blow your mind!
Haken is great. So many great albums. I can recommend the band IQ. Similar to Haken. The road of bones, is a nice start. Try Ayreon. It’s symphonic metal. Many well known musicians participated. The day that the world brakes down, official video, is a good song to get to know Ayreon. After that, pick songs from the live concerts: Ayreon Universe live. With Floor Jansen and many others The electric castle live and other tales. With Simone Simons and many others.
Thank you Scientist are great as is Haken. Also second any requests to react to Opeth, especially the Ghost Reveries album which would be a good one to start with.
I suggest you to check the band Opeth with the album Ghost Reveries, could be a little shocking at first but incredible music in there. Steven Wilson had implication with early Opeth as the frontman Mikael Akerfeldt and him are very close friends.

Haken just kicks ass. So underrated
Enjoyed your reaction, its always so fun to see people discovering Haken!
Definitely check out Haken's debut album Aquarius. Absolutely packed with fun and crazy sections as well as epic choruses.
Atlas Stone was the first song I heard from them, and I think it will always be one of my favorite Haken songs.

The one i recommend people go for first is usually the human equation. its a great album, but then again so are most of arjens projects.
This is the first time I've ever seen anyone recommend Road of Bones, and it's one of my all time favorite prog albums. Agree 100%.
This is such an amazing album. I'm super excited for the second part, the back half is just as wild and glorious
One of their nicknames is 'Djentle Giant' lol
Just wait till Messiah Complex. That song will kick your ass.
