    Always use the biggest screws or lag bolt possible.
    A good pry bar or Halligan Tool can pull out 2" deck
    screws like they are nothing.

    The problem is you didn;t put any power behind pulling on the door like someone would if they were trying ot break in. The brace would only be as strong as the screws holding it on teh door or wall, which would easily be broken off if someone actually pulled as hard as tehy could to get in.

    What's the minimum space needed for each side because I have a house that is 1 5/8" on one side and 11/4" on the other thank you for your video.

    The weakest part in this setup is the door but normally.. itll be the the bolts on the bottom

    Door jams work great, but the weak part is still going to be the door itself. It's hollow core, so a simple kick and there would be a decent sized hole to stick an arm through and pull the 2x4 out of the way. It's like with all modern stick house construction. If you want to break into a house or another room in the same house, the walls are the weak point you want to penetrate, not the door since the door is more likely to be reinforced or alarmed.

    Great product, and well fitting for the channel!
    Is there any type of defencethat can be used to protect your windows?
    I love the idea of a covert 'urban fortress'.
    By the way, have you ever had to use any of your emergency water storage?

    • @UrbanSurvivor
      @UrbanSurvivor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah not bad for urban environments!
      I know they make security screens for windows but personally havent looked into them too much... yeah that would definitely be an interesting topic to explore further.
      Havent had to use my home emergency water storage but have used my vehicle water storage a few times!

      @@UrbanSurvivor I was wondering, what would be a good power source during a long-term power out?

      @@Irish0wl what do you need to power? And would this be for a bug in or bug out sitaution?

      @@Irish0wl i havent explored this topic too much yet but a home solar system would be best. Otherwise a gas generator would keep some basic kitchen appliances going but you would need plenty of fuel to keep it running.

    On an outward swinging door what's to stop an intruder from just pulling the 2x4 out of the bracket?

    • @Mela.1S
      @Mela.1S ปีที่แล้ว

      Brackets are attached to the inside of the door for outward swinging in doors. How would your intruder remove the 2x4 if he was not already inside the room?

    Thanks US, Thinking of getting these for my cabin in the woods. These brackets and a 2X4 would keep the bears out! Ha Ha.

      Haha yea never thought of them being useful for bears but they sure would be! Sihnman needs to add that as a use case in their description ASAP lol

      @@UrbanSurvivor Yea, they can get inside ur cabin by brute force cause it works in nature, Especially if they smell food. Adult brown bears in our woods stand over 5 ft on their hind legs!

    That's pathetic, those screws on a hollow door means the failure point will be the screws just flying out. Get a solid wood or steel door.
