TRIP REPORT | TUI | First Time in the Boeing 757! ツ | Birmingham to Mallorca

- TUI trip report onboard one of the TUI Boeing 757 from Birmingham to Mallorca (Palma) on a sunny and hot summer morning.
The experience onboard the TUI Boeing 757 was fantastic. I booked an extra-legroom seat and I felt like I could not choose a better seat: great wing-view and great legroom. Just perfect in all ways.
Another aspect that I would like to say about TUI is that, despite they don't have the pre-order hot meals option, the onboard menu is quite varied, offering a decent amount of options for good prices.
Last but not least, the views during all the flight were spectacular: lots of cities in the UK, the English channel, Toulouse, the Pyrenees, Barcelona and, finally, all Palma de Mallorca island during the approach. A really enjoyable flight!

OnBoardHD - Flight Experience Boeing got greedy and wasn’t prepared for ETOPS. They tried to use the 737 series, ultimately developing the MAX in response to the 320Neo series, but that is sadly failing. They are way behind Airbus in the smaller to medium size contest.
I have flown with TUI from Manchester airport to paphos airport in Cyprus like if you have flown with TUI :)

TUI is Great. You always get that feeling of Happiness when you see their logo.
In my opinion Tui is the best airline for holidays i only went on the 737 but i asked a flight attendant if they had the Tui wave but it was only on the Dreamliner. Half way through the flight a flight attendant said to me i cant give you a Tui wave but i can give you a Dreamliner model plane and i also got to sit in the cockpit i was buzzing
To be honest, I've never booked a holiday pack with any of these airlines. I just booked the flight ticket.
For the experience I had flying TUI and Jet2, both look like great options for enjoying the best possible holidays! 😊

Britannia en sus B757-200 monta los RB-211 de Rolls Royce mientras que la desaparecida Airtours montaba en sus B757-200 el Pratt & Whitney PW2040 ambos con su característico sonido del fan de entrada y del compresor, a los B757 les queda poca vida operativa su consumo y su mantenimiento es su pequeño problema
Se dejo de fabricar en el 2004 al ser superado por el A321 y las pocas ventas del B757-300 55 aparatos y un único B757-200M en Nepal el único B757 de esta versión que se fabrico
Que particularidad tiene el 757M? Nunca habia oido nada sobre él 🤔

Nepal Airlines ordenó el 757-200M para cumplir con un requerimiento de un avión que pudiera llevar pasajeros y carga, y operar fuera del Aeropuerto Internacional de Katmandú en las estribaciones de la cordillera del Himalaya.
Diseñado a partir variantes convertibles del 737 y 747, el 757-200M puede llevar de dos a cuatro paletas de carga en su cubierta principal, junto con 123 a 148 pasajeros en el espacio restante de la cabina. Had upwards of 25 holidays with TUI, both long, medium and short haul, 773,757 and 787! Marvellous until this year obviously... Mexico (3rd time, Premium Club) cancelled beginning of May..
Soon we'll be able to go on holidays again! :))
I have flown with TUI I flew from Birmingham to Punta Cana in Dominican Republic on there 787-8 Dreamliner it was called Alfie it was the best flight ever and I'm flying on a 757 to Egypt soon from Birmingham with TUI!!!
The TUI B787 is one of ny objectives for this winter on the channel. Hopefully, I will find some Canary islands flight with the B787 from somewhere! 😊
Have flown on G-BYAW and G-BYAY many times down to the Canaries from STN when liveried as Britannia.

i have flown on a 757 for the flight time of around 3 to 4 hours to Madeira,It was very comfortable and an all round great experience.I also flew with tui.I will very shortly be flying on their 787 dream liner to Rhodes.
Wow! Madeira! That's super-cool! I've never flown to Funchal but I would love to do so, the problem is that usually, the flight are really expensive if you don't book a plane+hotel pack...
I'm currently planning a flight on the TUI B787. They are operating it regularly from Manchester to Mallorca during the summer season, so I think I will try to fly that route soon!

A painless and uneventful flight - which is a good thing. While most European international flights serve some semblance of a hot meal, you weren't on the plane that long and the for-purchase choices were fully adequate. I wonder what the standard legroom seats were like.
Almost none airlines offer hot meals (for free) anymore in European flights. I just can think about Lufthansa (on 2:30h+ flights) and KLM.
This flight was great! Even more when flying on the B757! 😊😊

TUI is a great airline and happens to be my most flown airline in terms of distance and the 757 is my most flown aircraft type in terms of distance (though I’ve never flown on a TUI 757). You should really try out a TUI Airways UK 737-800 or a Thomas Cook A321 some time too.

Love the 757, but last time with Tui from Manchester was dreadful.
Ground staff very rude and cabin crew not much better. They got inflight meals messed up and tried blaming the passengers.
Great holiday, but wouldn't choose Tui again.

Ese 757 le da mil vueltas a los 757 de Condor, hace unos años hice MUC-FUE en el D-ABON y sentías estar viajando en los 90s...

What a thrilling way of flying in a 757 Lucas.Such a classic plane.I have only flew once back at the 90s from Athens to Thessaloniki and I still remember the amazing RR engine sound.Amazing engine view and excellent filming as always my friend.I really liked it .

Flown with tui loads of times on the whole very good my only complaint is the legroom is poor but me being 6ft 4 probably doesn't help.
I'm looking forward to my next trip with TUI! I have a voucher to spend with them as they cancelled me one flight due to COVID in March. :)
Glad you flew on a 757 a classic aircraft.....did you know the flight deck is (if I remember) is one step below the level of the main aisle!!! You have to step down onto the flight deck!!!! And the sound of those classic engines you can really hear the power changes.......I flew on a Monarch Airlines 757 to/from Palma we had to do a "go around" it was awesome the spooling up of the engines.....brilliant. A true classic aircraft like I say and glad you flew on it. P.S. in the 70's ALL leg room on ALL aircraft was as per your seat BAC 1-11, 727, (Boeing)720, Caravelle etc. etc

I wish I could have flown with Monarch... they looked like a great airline! 😐
Got off the runway like a rocket but at reduced thrust. Couldn’t have been too full, but if it was, flaps were probably down pretty far. The 757-200 is definitely overpowered and has countless different thrust and flap settings for takeoff, only to mention the weights vary. This was a short flight though, just don’t know how many passengers but can hold well over 200 people.
Yep. Its well known that tye B757 is overpowered. Thats the reason why is not good for almost anu airline.
A B757MAX would have been perfect to compete with the A321NEOxlr😐

Did you know that this was the exact aircraft that had a bird strike in manchester a few years ago? Sadly G-BYAW has been retired now.

It was just a test, to see how the audience retention was working with the music. I think I will add music just to some videos that will need it for any reason, but by default, I won't add it to any other if it's not necessary.

The 757 is one my favorite planes!!! Are TUI ones with RB-211 engines ? I am about to fly on it in 4 days on MAN-SKG route and the in Sept i am doing DUS-HER with Condor's 757-300!They are fantastic powerful planes soon to be retired from the european skies, so i wanted to try them one last time,since nobody knows what's going to happen to Thomas Cook/Condor and their fleet
Yes, they have the Rolls Royce RB211S only Delta had the PW engines in America.
I really don't know about the engines of the B757, but there's another person that answered your question. :)
I love the 757 aircraft...They are so nice....I have flown on them many times from Chicago to the west coast. I have also flown to Hawaii on them as well.

You will find a good trip to be on. Also, when looking up your trips to see what flights are flying on 757s. Sometimes, I have noticed the 757s on early morning trips most of the time. But you will find a trip on that aircraft....

Is this flight all Economy? We have First Class and then Economy as well as the three class 757s out of New York to L.A.
Yep, this one is all economy class. TUI is mainly a leisure airline. Basically, almost all their passengers buy a plane+hotel pack, so they are not looking for any business class. I believe that on the B787 they have a few seats that can be considered as Business class because they fly to Caribe and USA with it!
We don't have First class in any European flight in any airline. The maximum is a Business class.
Tui only have premium on long haul flights which is on the Dreamliner but sometimes, especially now because of the 737 max issue the Dreamliner is being used for short/medium haul.

Lovely Video mate. It seems you took a rather long arrival route into Palma. You seem to have approached from the southwest and flew downwind from the airport before turning onto final.
Normally flights from the UK approach from the northwest corner when landing on rwy24. Traffic must have been heavy.

Yep, you are absolutely correct. The reason was that ATC changed the runway configuration just before us starting the approach, so to organise all the arriving traffic, they did this. Actually, there was a msg from the F.O. telling us exactly this, but I thought it was to technical for a video like this :)

To be honest i don’t like the 757 the a321 is way better
In terms of fuel efficiency, for sure, the A321NEO beats the B757 by far. However, from an esthetical point of view, in my opinion, the B757 has no competition at all! :)

I thought that too :) I was Monarch Cabin Crew for 15 years and have loads of lovely memories. It looks like that's one of the A321's that went to TCX and didn't get fully painted. Monarch changed a huge amount over the years, tried to save money on absolutely everything (including cutting our pay in half) and had dreadful management at the end. It could have been saved, but I'm glad it wasn't, because I'm TUI Cabin Crew now! Everything happens for a reason. I love working at TUI far more than I ever liked Monarch.

Actually, I found the same kind of scheme in the biggest UK airports (except Heathrow): a huge central place where the passengers have to wait till the last minute for the boarding gate, and in that central place are all the shops and restaurants. Don't you think so?
Because it's the same company - 'World Duty Free.' Just like the way all Tesco stores look the same, or all TGI's are the same. If it works, and it does (ALL passengers have no option but to walk through a long winding path through the shop immediately after security. It works for WDF and it works for the airports. Why change it? 🙂

@@OnBoardHD absolutely! Been to St.Lucia twice with them. Last year January 2018 and June 2019.flew on the dreamliner direct from LGW. Flight took 7 hrs each way. Love the 7878! Very good cabin service, food, and smooth flights each way. Didn't feel much jet lag due to their cabin pressure and clean air. I'm from St Lucia so that's my airline to home and back. I'd recommend TUI to anyone!!

I have been on many TUI flights with my family and all I can say is that my experiences have been great also BTW didi you know I actually flew the same route but at a different Airport Doncaster Sheffield so..... Yeah hope your experience had been great! :)

Thank you I've noticed there is star by our booking I've been advised sometimes that means it's a dreamliner but not.to hold my hopes as it can be a adults only flight on the max 8 , 757 or 767 I hope it will be a dreamliner though 😀😀😀

Tendrías que preguntar a la tripulacion si puedes entrar a la cabina al llegar y asi enseñar algunas fotos o videos. El 90% de las veces te dejan verla.
He entrado unas cuantas veces en cabina, pero allí los pilotos están trabajando y a nadie le guste que le graben mientras trabajan.

I have flown with tui and my experience was terrible my flight was delayed for TWO and a half days and they lied on the second day and said the plane would be here would be here and when we got to our destination we were in a bad mood for the whole holiday
Oh, I'm sorry to read that... Hope that you will have a better experience next time. That kind of delays are not common at all and can really happen with any airline =/

I have flown with TUI many times from Arlanda in Stockholm, Sweden. The airplanes I have flown is the B737+Max (I think), B757, B767 and B787 what I remember: )

Sadly these have been almost fully retired from the Tui fleet. I think only 4 examples left. It's now 737s

How do you know that your tui flight is operated by a 757 ? (I want fly it next year just before they retire them all but it's didn't show the aircraft when booking :/)
Wow we flew on the 757 about 10 years ago(brilliant), You never hear about the 757, More recently we have flown on the dreamliner, Was the dreamliner the upgrade of the 757?
The B757 was a great airplane that Boeing didnt trust to continue developing. And i believe that it was a mistake. They could be competing perfecrly against the A321neo XLR.
The B787 is a totally new airplane.
