  • How I set up and test the AB Ethernet 10/100 communication module. Using RSLinx and BootP server Ver 2.3
To reset the Series B modules to factory default - power off.
    Set the switches to 888.
Power on and wait about a minute.
Power off and set to 999.
Use BootP to access the module and set an address.
Then use RSLinx to confirm that the settings are where you want them for your system.
I will do a video on this in the coming week or so.

Testing communication with the 1794-ASB module
I'm troubleshooting these older version that use the blue wire with the EOL resistor, and they are daisy chained and goes to a scanner module 1747-SN, please advise

      HI Leslie:
      Yes that combination will work!
It has been awhile since I hooked up a system like that.
You are correct on the daisy chain - never do a star or ring configuration with the blue hose.
If you change the switches on the ASB modules, you have to power down the ASB and power back up.
You also have to have the communication speed set the same in all of the modules and match that in the SN scanner module. You need a resistor at each end of the blue hose - both of the same value and sized according to the speed that you set the communication at.
      Hope that all helps.
      Bruce

Nice video, good this stuff is on the internet. Do you know if I can use a 1756-L72 and a 1769-ENTR as a remote IO?

What Could be a reason behind of Network Status LED Flashing?? Is it showing healthy?? It should be in steady state Condition. How do i rectify??

From the Rockwell manual it states:
Flashing Green No Connections Module has obtained an IP address, but has no established connections.
It would seem that there is no PLC talking to the AENT Module.
      There is a 90 page manual from Rockwell - Publication 1794-UM006A-EN-P - July 2001
I would suggest you go to the Rockwell manuals site and download the PDF.
      Hope this helps you.

@@abplctestbench759 Yes,Exactly but what could be the problem? Module itself having a problem or PLC problem?

can I use this device with siemens plc's?

    • @abplctestbench759

Not that I know of. You would have to ask a Siemens PLC group if it can talk to AB/ Rockwell PLC's.

Hi: You don't say if it is a series A or B.
      I suspect it is a series A.

Hello - No I do not. There is a link at the top of my page that shows www.plcs.net/ for training I would start there as there are multiple subjects and links for training.
      Thank you for asking.
