    Here is my note
    *Don't*
    1. Multitask-- decrease IQ
    2. Distraction-- turn your phone off. Use apps to help reduce distractions
    3. Cramming-- study over time not overnight
    4. Act against your judgement
    *Do*
    1. Active recall-- remember what you read instead of rereading repeatedly
    2. Spaced repetition-- anki,
    3. Use smell-- most connected. Spray unfamiliar smell while studying. Use it before exam. Rosemary, peppermint
    4. Listen to songs-- increase mood and memory
    Sharpen the saw

    Summary:
    1. Stop multitasking/task switching. Do one single mental thing at a time.
    2. Eliminate distraction. Focus. (See episode on focusing better)
    3. Stop cramming. You need sleep and breaks. Study in chunks and not at a go. Take breaks every 30-40 mins.
    4. Stop acting against your own better judgement. (See the episode on how to stop procrastinating.)
    5. Practice active recall. Quiz yourself.
    6. Follow spaced repetition. (Flashcards)
    7. Use your sense of smell. (Your environment is anchored with your memory.) Lipbalm/chewing gum/perfume - use it while studying and then on the day of exam. Peppermint oil is a good oil for focus.
    8. Listen to music of 60beats/min that can cause you to go into alpha state which is a good state for memorizing.

It might be the case that as a good student, you look for videos like his. You are doing well because you are smart/diligent, and not because of the content of his videos. To ensure that this has to do with his videos, you would want to stop following his advice for a semester and see what happens...

@jimkwik thank you for your time and teachings. When I was child, I had learning disability. I couldn't understand anything, everything was "why? Why?." Even when I was being taught "hands on task" I couldn't understand the concepts. I had to repeat 5th grade and work harder than most kids even up towards high school. By the time I hit high school, everything I did was as if I was just trying to get by. Until my junior year I had the privilege to meet two great teachers that were patient enough to actually teach me to study, concentrate, and kind of "turn on my brain". Now I'm here watching and listening to your podcast trying re-learn learning. My goals are to accomplish a better understanding of reading comprehension, writing, studying etc; So I can one day become a correctional officer. When I heard you struggled learning as a child and had to work harder than other kids, I understood that because I've been there. You have inspired and motivated me. It's like if Jim Kwik can do it, then I have work as hard to do it. Again thank you Jim!

    THE STOPS
1-stop multitasking (it makes you dumber)
2-get away from distraction (turn off your phone)
3- stop cramming (take a break every 30 min for 5 or 10 min )
    4-stop procrastinate
    THE DOS
    1-active recall
    2-space repetition
3- use the sense of smell
    4- listen to music
    and finally, sharp your saw

Heyyy i had reliazeD this before
And i have multitasked for a year
And lately when i reliazed wtf is actually going on in my life
    I felt like a looser
Idk if i believed in my self
But i worked for my self
Which made a way bit clear
I tried to fix all of the things
But i realized im a failure nd lack so much
I have lost all my qualities which were there some times:(
I felt like i have nothing no skills
    No people nothing
    And most affected was studies
    I have decreased my iQ
I'm slow nd a depressed dawg
It's aweful to accept nd say but
But i dont want this to set me back
    From anything in future
I want to be hard working
    Im trying
Trying alone thou with my best nd im confident enough that ill be over this one day
But since this was all in my head till now it was fine
But the moment u said multitasking reduces iQ
Evry dots of my mind connected
I realised why is thus happening all of this
    Like its scary a bit
But i wont focus on the bad
    I just wanna ask if
How can i get my iQ back , how can i inc it ?
    I m a student
    17y/o
Nd in this fast moving world i lack behind:(

Sonjia Rivera one thing that you can do is physically write it down on paper. People remember more when they do that. Studies show that the act of writings things down - not typing or taking screenshots - helps put the information into your active memory. Then use active recall and set timers like an hour or a day later and do your best to recall what you learned. I also use acronyms like C MAD for the “don’t” list. It makes remembering items easier.

The dark environment makes me focus better. When there is sun out there and I'm studying next to a window I can't concentrate, I want to get out :} if it is rainy dark outside I can concentrate even better.
The second thing is to speed read the study material one or 2 times then read it in detail. Knowing the subject overall makes the parts more sense.
