      Thanks for your comment, but sadly you are late to the party on this one. I've already done considerable research on this topic over the last few years since I started my channel (and have had many, many people tell me i'm wrong) and both pronunciations are completely acceptable. Just because you have a preference doesn't mean i'm wrong, just as I would not correct you for saying it the way you want to. I was actually looking at making a video on this very topic due to the nature of how divisive it seems to be (don't we have better things to be worrying about in this day and age though?!). Either way, i've had my channel for over 4 years and have not changed the way I say it.
      Yes, I do agree with you though, this kit was great and I imagine I will probably do another one in the future

Like for example the jet fighters got SO many(stencils like :no push, no step, be aware of jet blast, danger air intake and so on...) . When I did my academy f-8 which is now complete it had more than 50 stencils, not counting the decals for marking option. They are hard to apply but worth the effort, especially in larger scales because it makes the model so much better. Ps: toothpick is best for this task, when the stencils are so small.

    Hey, I wanted to give you the tip that in video tutorials people use polishing compounds to polish the needle and it helped with the speckling that you get. You can pretty much use most polishing compounds but you want something really fine off course to get the smoothest finish. The video I saw used tamiya fine polishing compound, which can also be useful later for cockpit polishing or when you want a glossy metal surface.

    When I built an Airfoil 1/72 Typhoon as a kid, the cockpit details consisted of a seat. The propeller was one piece with a pin to be sandwiched between the fuselage halves. The cannon were molded to the wings with no thought of gun bays. All these years later, I'm almost tempted to build a plane again, but for the fact I don't know where I'd put the finished model! And they cost at least 20 times what I paid way back in the waybacks!

This looks like a great kit. I still haven't decided about trying my airbrush again - one benefit of using brushes is that I paint most of the parts on the sprue so rarely need to mask. I'll agree with the grittiness of Humbrol paints, I can't stand them for either brush or airbrush (the latter clogs no matter how I thin, same issue you had) and it doesn't matter if its the little kit pots or the full size ones. Great build. I wish I had heard your tip about using hot water with the Humbrol matt acrylic varnish earlier this week. I have got a frosted finish from using for the first time. Possibly too impatient between coats and too much on. Not sure if it's fixable or not, it's a very detailed Star wars craft. 👍

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel as though a satin or gloss layer on top of the frosted paint may "hide" it - possibly worth trying on an inconspicuous part of the model? Then going back over the top with the matt varnish. I find that the matt varnish is sensitive to a number of things, primarily temperature and moisture. I start off by really mixing the paint, then I stand the bottle (sometimes) in hot water for a while to raise the temperature of the paint. Finally I thin it with hot water (i use filtered water in my kettle so that it has less impurities in it) and that's how I got the result you see in the video. A bit of work, but it is possible to get a good matt finish with that paint. Especially as it costs less than £2 a bottle

    Hi, Matt. Great job. To get that spray effect to camouflage edges try applying thin rolls of blue tack to where the edge of the paint will go and then fill in with masking tap. Spray carefully at right angles to the surface and you should get the desired result. I have a also found using fine artist pens ( 0.3 mm and up) in the panel lines is quicker than a wash and as they are water based you can remove excess easily. I have Faber Castle 4 pitt artist pens in black. Hope this is useful and keep up the good work.

    18:30 why take so long to upload than?

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      build = 2 days
      research = 30mins +
      photo editing = 1 or 2 hours
      scripting = 4 hours
      audio recording = 30 mins
      audio editing = 10 mins
      video editing = 4 hours
      upload time = 30 mins to 1 hour
      YT video description and data = 30 mins
      early access for patrons and channel members = 1 week
      That's a rough estimate of the amount of time it takes me to upload a video and then release it for general viewing. If we add it all up it's like 15 hours (but usually more) of just doing stuff to get the video from off the camera to being uploaded and ready on YT.
      Now factor in that I have a full time job and a family, finding 15 hours in a week just to edit the video is going to be difficult (that's like 2 full days worth of work). So if the build takes 2 days, the video takes 2 days and I have to go to work and things you can see how it takes a lot of time for these things to be uploaded
