“Oh, the keyboard is ridiculously expensive!” -> “If it were not that heavy, I would buy it, despite the price.” -> Then I watched your video. “You really talked me into it. I will buy it.”😄
Typing on mine now, it’s a fantastic upgrade from the Smart Keyboard Folio. The keyboard itself, the backlight, the viewing angles, the pass through charging, I really find it worthwhile. The extra weight is annoying at first, but I’m getting used to it, and I think once I’m using it in school again in the fall, I’ll really have a chance to put it through its paces. So far, I love it!
@@shuggfilmzandstudio2354 Em, i do think that ergonomics wise, this keyboard is less versatile. Just look at the apple website, the main feature is the "laptop" mode and for those who constantly use iPad as a tablet or drawing tablet this keyboard would be a dust collector at home. But i would say for serious desktop operator, and those serious typers, this keyboard is amazing. Not so much for people who draw, type, and use it as a tablet equally.
I'm sorry, while i agreed that MKBHD didn't review this product in a more technical way, he did answered some of our concerns in the over experience of the product. such as how's the feeling using it on the lap, and the weight distribution, and the lack of viewing angle range. All that this video failed to mention. In this video, all pros and no cons.
I’m loving this new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro!! I needed the iPad Pro tablet, as an artist, to use with the 2nd generation pen, etc.. This keyboard is solid, fun and very responsive...Love typing on it and the backlit keys really help..the weight is perfect for balancing on my knees and I love how close the iPad sits on the keyboard for rendering easily with the pen or my fingers as well..way cool!! Thanks for the thorough review and extra tips. From Cynthia Pride...
Got it today... and let me tell you.. its a game changer...for those who love being on the couch and not have the ipad fall for the 1000th time on their face.. the acute angle in the tru game changer.. and the keyboard and keyboard.. i love it
This guy is like the smartest TH-camr’s out there. All other TH-cam complain that the keyboard is heavy and how it should be lighter, but he actually gives a really good reason why, physics.
I have to say, I've been studying Apple Inc. Since the early 2000s, and I think you nailed it with this video. Hats off to you for catching that new signature of the floating ipad too. And soon they'll introduce apple glass for our constant need for visual stimulation. But, once again great presentation👏👏👏👍
I purchased an iPad Magic Keyboard today to compliment my new iPad Pro 12.9 based on this You Tube video. Max was very detailed and clearly elaborated the benefits of purchasing this expensive keyboard. He was right it is worth every penny. I already own an Apple Mac Book Pro Laptop but this iPad Pro Magic Keyboard will be a great addition. It’s nice to have options. Apple is forever evolving. Please go out and purchase one. Great investment!!!
I love the IPad Pro 12.9, I picked up the 4th Gen. with the Magic keyboard and I now do not need a laptop anymore. It’s a Laptop when needed, an iPad when not. The trackpad is amazing for its size, and Apple gestures all work great. I also find it awesome that without the Magic Keyboard, I can also use my Apple Keyboard and Mouse that I got with my IMac.
Yes! Why it is heavy? Its designed to used in laptop mode. So when you use your ipad in tablet mode, just lift it out of the case, leave the case on the tablet, and because the weight of the case is high so you can lift easily by one hand =) When you want to use it in laptop mode, you put it on the case and its on the table so...why the weight is matter? In addition, the weight also keep the ipad very stable, not shaking like the surface keyboard especially when placing on your lap.
Exactly, I don’t know others still complain about the volume and brightness on the magic keyboard when they know iPad has a touchscreen and it’s easy located on the control centre. Hands down, one of the best reviews ever. 🙌🏻
I’ve noticed it’s incredibly easy to change the bright and volume using just the trackpad. Quicker than using touch. Just swipe up into the corner and the corner center comes down quickly. Then use two fingers to swipe up and down on the volume and brightness controls. And when done just swipe to the bottom and it disappears.
I’ve been using an iPad as my major device since the original iPad back in 2010 and didn’t think I missed having a real keyboard......until something caught my eye. I decided to jump in on the Magic Keyboard and I love it. It’s a wonderfully convenient case as well as beautifully functional keyboard. I agree with every major point made in this video.
Really good video. I liked your explanation of Apple’s Master Plan. I got the Magic Keyboard two days ago and really like it. I owned a Brydge Keyboard and found the connect / disconnect to be cumbersome. That rubber grip didn’t hold up very well either. The magnets on the Magic Keyboard are very good and make it easy to remove. I wish it was easier to open the case with one hand though. I have found that if you stand it vertical, resting on the rear hinge, it opens right up - unlike how you open a laptop. One other note - students and teachers can save $30 on the purchase price. It’s not a lot, but every bit helps. Also, buying it with the Apple Card earns 3% back (about $10).
Thanks for the input on the Brydge keyboard! Yes, it is a bit tough to open the Magic keyboard case, and I tried your method out as well and it works great! -V
“This is a keyboard, it’s Apples new keyboard”. That’s effectively what this video explained. You could have detailed the shift from laptop to iPad with xCode and the merging iOS, the hardware specs out performing laptops and their heat specs comparatively blowing them out the water, but no, you tell us it’s a keyboard and how much it is. Thanks Max Tech, we can always count on you.
Very good presentation! I love my new iPad Pro and Keyboard!! Perfect for the ones who dont want a laptop nor desktop but keep the ipad touch capabilities!
Apple doesn't see this as just a keyboard case. It's their best keyboard + a wireless charger for the iPad Pro. Additionally this will be positioned as an accessory for the upcoming 11in iPad Air.
I can see Apple making a Magic Keyboard Pro that has top row of controls with another USB-C port on the right that does pass through charge and to hook up other devices
Recently, I've been searching and watching reviews of iPad Magic Keyboard, looking for pros and cons of it. Your video is perfect, thanks to you for mentioning about Ability to type on-screen keyboard immediately after detached unlike other bluetooth keyboards which you have to turn off connection first. Other reviews fail to say it.

I like it so much I bought the new 2020 iPad Pro 256gb and the keyboard... Really enjoy using it... got rid of my MacBook Pro and my windows machine... now I do everything on the iPad Pro....
When the original AirPods were released, their price was considered to be surprisingly cheap. The original first mover was Bragi and their truly wireless buds were $249 vs. Apple’s ~$159. The reason they were a big hit was because of how superior the sound, connectivity, charging case and size were compared to others in addition to being very competitively priced. I have the Magic Keyboard and love it but I don’t think any other manufacturer would: 1. Be able to manufacture something to this level of quality/complexity for the hinge and keyboard and connectivity via the Smart Connectors and 2. Get away with being able to charge this much for a keyboard.
It does makes sense, they don’t want to apply touch screens to Mac lines but at the same time push iPad pros as computers themselves, so it (meaning the magic keyboard case) strengthens the agenda and segmentation of the two products and the back bone of the plan.
you are so right... my problem: I don‘t WANT to sit at Starbucks and have the feeling like everybody is watching me because I have the iPad Pro. I want to disappear in the crowd, but I guess this is not possible with this keyboard. I just want to have an AMAZING piece of tech that fascinates me - because THIS does the Magic Keyboard.
its a high price due to the niche idea of the floaty keyboard. can you find another ipad floaty keyboard in the market? no. they have quite a right to do that.
@@stephaniemay9090 it's actually a floaty tablet on a keyboard, and this alone doesn't justify the higher price. The reason why it's expensive (and so do any apple keyboard cases) is that it's proprietary smart connector. If other brands can use the connector many other better design will pop up. The much higher price is just the Apple tax.
Pricing things for 'exclusivity' is the worst thing to happen to the tech industry. There's so much about this keyboard that I've been wanting to see for the iPad, but it's priced at about $150 more than it should be. No thanks. I honestly couldn't care less if Becky thinks I'm loaded. I just want the functionality.
The most unique aspect of this is it floats, it's like the galaxy fold, the magic is that folds, or a convertible car. Makes a statement when it is noticed, and as a bonus you get charging pass through as well as a more comfortable lapable keyboard than those kickstand style trying to balance on the tip of the knees.
At first I hated the idea when I saw on the reviews that there was no way to get a "drawing" mode on the tablet. I pre-ordered it any way and just got it today. Now that I have it, I absolutely love it. I actually like that it forces me to use the iPad with no case when I want to draw or write something on it. Also, I realized that I can just remove the iPad, close the magic keyboard and lay the iPad on top of it if I'm at a table or in a place where I have no where to put the keyboard. And jeeeeeeez the design is so beautiful. Compliments the iPad really well. I think its the best looking design I've ever seen on a peice of tech. The main thing I need them to add is a "hover" function for the trackpad. Particularly for websites. Also, it's not apples fault but Google needs to get their ish together and improve the Google apps for iPad. I also need the web browser to improve. It still isnt a "full" web browser as a ton of websites I use everyday for work arent formatted properly as they would be on a real browser. If they improved the web browser, that would go a long way.
I love your videos. They are so clear and easy to understand. I’m a Canadian following you from Japan. I’m a big Apple fan. Keep up the great work. You are awesome!!!!
I’m 10 minutes into using my new Magic Keyboard and I already love it 1000 more than the Brydge it replaces. Much better typing, the touchpad is excellent, and the floating design is killer. There is only one thing they should improve upon. The next iPad should get a better smart connector that does USB-C data passthrough as well as power. the power passthrough is very nice for now but I want to use that port for and external display or an accessory hub. All that said, well done Apple.
@@JACKSTAY I have a different type c hub and it too works great. I'm just saying the keyboard would be that much better if the usb-c passthrough did data as well. Not pointing out a negative, just an improvement.
This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on the new Magic Keyboard. I watch all of the big name you tubers and this is far better than any of theirs. You’re more in touch with your audience and much more relatable! Not sure where you came from, this video just showed up in my feed, watched and subscribed!
The quality may be solid, this thing is just too expensive an average person. This is an elitist keyboard. Especially in these times when 32 million people are out of work.
In Europe it’s with €339,- even 72 dollars more expensive. But a separate Apple case, keyboard and trackpad will cost €80,- +€100,- +€150,- so more less the same.

“Oh, the keyboard is ridiculously expensive!” -> “If it were not that heavy, I would buy it, despite the price.” -> Then I watched your video. “You really talked me into it. I will buy it.”😄
same
Michael Wu I was on the fence about it but he convinced me to buy it.
Demetric Jackson Don’t hesitate to buy it,I received mine yesterday and it hasn’t disappointed me in any way whatsoever!
Michael Wu it will be a mistake. I wasted lots of money for Airpods pro. Piece of shit. The plastic material of this case is also flimsy.
Adam Smith I still have the 1st gen AirPods. Still work good.
I love my Magic Keyboard case. The profile really reminds me of an iMac.
I love this channel because the PRESENTATION of videos is so clean! Also love the camera work and the soothing voice is a cherry on top of a cake.
I am sorry !! MKBHD , plz learn from this guy to review this keyboard. Nice work .
This an Apple marketing video ...and not a serious video.
@@martinspedding4210 Indeed. 3:20 "But that's the whole point", i thought it was a parody.
And im not even a fan of MKBHD.
At 1:48 another TH-cam reviewer didn't catch this feature and said the brightness was fixed on the keyboard. Good job for finding this feature.
David Bloyd, was it iJustine?
Hands down the best review of the Magic keyboard, I was confused but this man right over here solved it in less than a couple of mins I guess😅
Max Tech: "All you have to do to set it up, is place the iPad Pro to the case, and it magnetically snaps into place"
Me: Bars
Got it today... and let me tell you.. its a game changer...for those who love being on the couch and not have the ipad fall for the 1000th time on their face.. the acute angle in the tru game changer.. and the keyboard and keyboard.. i love it
Best Mac and Tech channel on TH-cam. I got all the information I need. Thanks! :)
This guy is like the smartest TH-camr’s out there. All other TH-cam complain that the keyboard is heavy and how it should be lighter, but he actually gives a really good reason why, physics.
Got to honestly say this has to be arguably one of the best videos on the Magic Keyboard so far, enjoyed watching 👍🏼
Where does the pencil get stored when in transport/folio close mode?
A joy to hear a pretty detailed shot at Apple's master plan. Thank you
Ingmar Berg Mikkelsen it really was.
the default built-in Escape key combo is Command+. (period)
Next year: magic keyboard 2, 30% thinner, 50% lighter.
JS $799.99
It can never be lighter unless iPads also become lighter. The weight is required to keep it from tipping over.
1000% more expensive
@@st0rmchild true the design does not age well. They should follow in microsoft footsteps in making a good stand for a light device like this unless
@@PumpkinPails 😂😂😂😂😂
I love the IPad Pro 12.9, I picked up the 4th Gen. with the Magic keyboard and I now do not need a laptop anymore. It’s a Laptop when needed, an iPad when not. The trackpad is amazing for its size, and Apple gestures all work great. I also find it awesome that without the Magic Keyboard, I can also use my Apple Keyboard and Mouse that I got with my IMac.
I like your Apple reviews because I believe you know exactly how they are thinking.

This is very well said! Now I am more excited to use my Magic Keyboard soon!
Good walkthrough thanks!
Great review. This is the only review I have found that shows how to customize nearly everything in settings. Keep up the good work!
This review give me info that the magic keyboard bkaclight can automatic reduce when the light environment bright, thanks man
“This is a keyboard, it’s Apples new keyboard”.
You deserve 10x the subscribers you already have currently! Man, we love your content.
I ordered it a few days ago. The Apple keyboard and trackpad will move 2018 iPad Pro... no lose but a win win.
Another Question:
Why is the 12.9-inch Keyboard $20 more than the 10.2-inch iPad?
to cover the cost of the extra sand
Because it's apple.
They can do whatever they want.
You guys are off-topic. Get out.
I can see Apple making a Magic Keyboard Pro that has top row of controls with another USB-C port on the right that does pass through charge and to hook up other devices
Man, this is the first time i'm this early! Great video, like always!
Thank you for the support :)
Yours is the first video I've seen that says what material the trackpad is. I was worried it would be plastic.
I’ll wait for the next generation Mystic Keyboards with SSD Storage.
Will that also contain additional processors and batteries ?
Thanks for the review. I literally screamed at the conclusion of the video. Very good insight!
Apple prices are insane
Recently, I've been searching and watching reviews of iPad Magic Keyboard, looking for pros and cons of it. Your video is perfect, thanks to you for mentioning about Ability to type on-screen keyboard immediately after detached unlike other bluetooth keyboards which you have to turn off connection first. Other reviews fail to say it.
Well, you can also press and hold the arrow in the bottom right of the screen, that brings up the on-screen keyboard also.
Ur my fav iPad reviewer, simple, reliable and interesting
… and handsome!!! 🤪
Hape and handsome!
Your insights to this product is by far the most thought provoking and in my opinion accurate. Thx for the great work!
I believe there is something wrong with the upload. It has only 360p quality available.
TH-cam is being a little slow today. Higher quality should be available soon!
@@MaxTechOfficial I will wait because I know how much effort you put in this videos for us to watch in the best resolution!
@@MaxTechOfficial Aah i dont know how youtube uploading works..I just wanted to let you know in case there was a mistake! Anyways, thanks for the comparisson! Keep up the good work mate! Cheers!
@@dennisk000 Just fyi, TH-cam videos that were recently uploaded tend to be 360p for a little bit. Wait a few minutes and refresh the page and it should be in HD.
Absolutely love my magic keyboard and all of its uses 👍👍👍
It’s no different in price from buying a MacBook Air or Pro, so I’d rather go with the MacBook. But the idea and design is very nice though.
I like it so much I bought the new 2020 iPad Pro 256gb and the keyboard... Really enjoy using it... got rid of my MacBook Pro and my windows machine... now I do everything on the iPad Pro....
Outstanding review with great insights and explanations into the "why"- perfect video, keep it up!
I've seen almost all reviews on this product. Yours hands down is the best. It's so good I gave you thumbs up and subscribed to your channel. Peace
did you watch MKBHD review already?
Bought this yesterday and I’m simply blown away
Love your reviews.
It does makes sense, they don’t want to apply touch screens to Mac lines but at the same time push iPad pros as computers themselves, so it (meaning the magic keyboard case) strengthens the agenda and segmentation of the two products and the back bone of the plan.
i love how he emphasize on the 2 finger pinch and the 3 finger swipe. everyone is just rushing to be the first to review.
Honestly the trackpad gesture is a mind F for me, as i use 3 finger drag, force touch and 4 finger app expose...
you are so right... my problem: I don‘t WANT to sit at Starbucks and have the feeling like everybody is watching me because I have the iPad Pro. I want to disappear in the crowd, but I guess this is not possible with this keyboard. I just want to have an AMAZING piece of tech that fascinates me - because THIS does the Magic Keyboard.
Great video....probably the best and most comprehensive I’ve seen so far! Thanks
I just wish Apple had used more premium fabric on the new Magic keyboard. Can’t wait to get mine!
Ok, but I am not in support of a "trend" that is promoting higher prices even for other company competitors. lol
its a high price due to the niche idea of the floaty keyboard. can you find another ipad floaty keyboard in the market? no. they have quite a right to do that.
@@LeungMac thank you, the "floaty keyboard" does not justify that high price. I am an apple fan, but some people take things too serious.
But it does actually push other competitors to focus more on quality, rather than affordability
This is the literally the best review of the iPad Pro Magic Keyboard; great work!
You guys using the 11” or 12.9” ?
11" in this video
I think the 12.9" is more a laptop replacement but 11" is better for mobility as a secondary device
Brilliant! That’s all I can say about this particular video of yours. You’ve just earned a fan✌️🤓
This is the best video review of Magic Keyboard so far
best magic keyboard review
Great video, mate. Very insightful.
I’m just as impressed! It just feels so natural!
I just use a HyperDrive 6-in-1 iPad type c hub from the main iPad port and then use the keyboard for passthrough charging. It’s not half bad
Roger a-ducking-men. Like this is crazy expensive
In Europe it’s with €339,- even 72 dollars more expensive. But a separate Apple case, keyboard and trackpad will cost €80,- +€100,- +€150,- so more less the same.
they shiuld give it to you for free cuz you suffering man
@MaxTech Please can you let me know what that wallpaper is at 9:50. I am begging to know!?
