You’re a life saver with these tutorials and one of the main reasons im even a 3d artist. Dont know where id be without your vids!!! So happy you decided to bless us with your knowledge ☺️

As a Blender user I have to use my brain a little to think of the Blender equivalents to the modifiers and modelling tools of Cinema 4D, but the most valuable information in these videos is actually the topology you show us. Learning how to get smooth edge flows and decent all-quad topology is one of the most challenging and also important parts of learning to model in 3D. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge.

Blender and C4D User here: Usually i prefer to model in blender. Im just more used to it and for example i miss the feature in c4d that i can just press, for example, (g)rab, y (to lock on y-axis) and set a number to move the vertex/object along the axis. What i also deeply miss in c4d is Blenders adaptive grid which just gets finer the more you zoom in. So far i didnt find this in C4D and i have to set the steps for modelling seperatly.
yet so far i find that blender does have most of the tools C4D offers, but #1 not ALL and 2# some of them dont work even close as good as c4d's tools do. But as you say, these tutorials are very useful today. It's just modeling in its pure form. When you browse on social media, the 3D-Artists today seem to do nothing but kitbashing stuff together, setting up an HDRI and making a reel for instagram saying "You finally learned blender."...as if you can enitrely learn a software...

@@namedia90 The two programs do have similarities for modelling but also big differences. Because of this I watch these videos without Blender open, then wind back to a frame where the wireframe is clearly visible and freeze it. Then I use that as reference while I model the entire thing using Blender without necessarily trying to use the equivalent modifiers or tools. This makes me think harder and still allows me to copy some methods where they work well in both programs. Where they don't I find my own ways to work. For me this allows me to make best use of the excellent tutorial material being presented here and use my brain at the same time.
And yes, there is so much in Blender that there is probably only one person who knows it all, Ton Roosendaal. The rest of us are always learning.

@@FireAngelOfLondon Haha, i believe not even Ton does know everything. Being the head of blender, he most likely rarely finds time to even use it. :D But i know what you mean. There is a reason why people usually specialize in animation, texturing, modelling, rigging etc. if you want to do it on a professional level, you cant be perfect at everything.

For the Blender users: You can use the Shrinkwrap Modifier. Also the Cast Modifier could be an option.

Thanks for the info, is there any deformer equivalent to smoothing deformer in Blender? I know there is the smoothing deformer, but it seems like it doesn't even out the surfaced as it does in Cinema 4D.

@@polygonpen It may cause some problems in spherical shapes, but there is a curve option in loop tools similar to this (if I understand correctly). Detailed explanation is explained in the video called Loop tools Curve Tool: Panel Beating on Ian McGlasham's TH-cam channel. I hope what you are talking about is related to this.

Great tutorial and workflow, The central "button" looks to me like it needs some smoothing as well. Looks liked it's not regularly rounded but maybe it's just me.

    Hi, great tutorial !
How can I create the intricate details on the shoe soles? They are quite complex. Also, I'm struggling to keep the polygon count low while maintaining these details. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
I hope you can make a video about this in the future. Thanks

Thank you for the suggestion, I would like to answer your question, but it is too complex to explain here so I hope one day I make a tutorial about that, you can also think about alternative ways to model like sculpting and maybe baking?

@@polygonpen Thank you for your quick response.
I have another way through sculpting or CAD modeling,
but I would like to master sub-d modeling.
