    The Bachelor Loop is named for the mining ghost town of Bachelor located high in the mountains, which was named due to the high number of single male miners who lived there during the mining heyday.

    One of my favorite things about Creede was that the fly shop was right next to the coffee shop!! That's planning! The year we went it was rainy most of the time we were there so the river was high and muddy so we wound up fishing other small streams and lakes nearby but we still had a good time....

    The Bachelor and Commodore mines were two of the biggest producers of ore within the Creede Mining District, then later, when their workings and output were combined, they had the most productive years of all the Creede-area mines.

    I've been showing my boys videos of the Bachelor Loop this past week and happened to find your channel. We love the content. Did you happen to see the record trout in the old hardware store? My family and I are headed to Bristol Head Campground which is 30 minutes west of Creede (on the way to Lake City) this weekend. My folks live in Del Norte and we never miss a chance to go to Creede when we visit them. I actually rode through Creede on horseback while traversing the CDT back in 2004. We rode off San Luis Pass and down to Creede via the Bachelor Loop. It was amazing to travel through the mines like they did back in the day! Thanks for sharing your experiences!

      Hey thanks for the interesting comments David. We did not see the record trout but we did spend an afternoon and the night in Del Norte. That’s a cute little town with a great city park on the river. We boondocked in the park, which is allowed.

    I passed through there yesterday, great tips! I love old Cemeteries. I'm surprised you didn't show the underground Mining museum and Community center next to the Fire station. Do you have a video on Lake City?

    • @CubbyVanLife
      @CubbyVanLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We didn’t do the mining museum because we have our dog with us. Although we have another video on the rest of the Silver Thread and Gunnison we did not do Lake City. It wasn’t our scene at all. Lot’s of loud OHVs in town for some event, a big RV park at one end, part of town was torn up for road construction and a septic truck had driven through spewing the most vile sludge from one end of town to the other so badly that we didn’t even get out of the van. Maybe we were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. 😟

    I just discover you kids this week and am enjoying your videos. There are so many young travelers posting travel videos, which I enjoy, but it’s refreshing to watch active seniors (like me) out blazing a trail. With your priority on evening cocktails, you’re a man out of my own heart. I know you have your new summer cocktail but try Eddy’s grapefruit infused vodka, a large twist of lime and a splash of club soda. It’s my new summer fave. Stay safe and keep up the great videos.

    Part of the reason it is called the Batchelor loop is there is a site on the back end of the loop that was the old townsite of the town of Batchelor...not much left of it now except some foundations and some descendants of the flowers that they planted back in the 1800's.....!

    My home away from home. You probably couldve taken Bachelors Loop to the right. I did it in my pickup, 2whl drive. There is some spots that are fairly knarley. Beautiful scenery up top. The old town of Bachelor was located on top. Big open area. There is a cemetary somewhere on top of the hill, but you have to hike to it. Coming down the other side, you can go one of two ways. Either way, take it slow. I love the town and surrounding area. Lots of history. Love the video...thanks!

    The state of Colorado is such a beautiful state! Microbrews are one of my husband’s favorite things! 😀We loved visiting Creede (probably 7 years ago). Stephen Quiller, an internationally well known artist and art workshop instructor has a studio in Creede. The outside of the gallery is lavender. The upstairs studio has a wood stove and the back door is open to the mountains. Most of his paintings are of mountains, trees streams and the general terrain in the area. He is also known for his color theory chart which is displayed in the studio. He still travels with his wife and teaches in many European countries. Sorry, probably more than you wanted to know. (I am a plein air watercolor painter.)😊
    Thank you for sharing your adventures in Creede. Looking forward to your next Colorado video.👍

    What a great representation you've done of the wonders of Colorado. I really enjoyed your trip I wish I was with you guys you look like great fun. What are the reasons I want to tell you did such a great job is that I grew up there in Almont Colorado. I've lived in Lake City and Gunnison. Skied Crested Butte since I was knee-high to a jackalope. But what a fun time. Oh one more thing about your peanut butter beer, the word you were looking for is current berry.( it's just called current. Not currant berry but you get the idea.) Thank you so much for visiting the area. Looks like you enjoyed it! Safe travels.

    new subscriber here. one observation of mine after looking at just one othere video (Gunnison) would be to incorporate the use of putting up a map when describing where you're at, where you're going etc. so the viewers are able to follow along. it would be useful to show where exactly the video is taking place and how relates to the rest of the state geographically speaking. 👍

      Actually not a Creed, but otherwise known to the publishing world as “Greek.” As in (Art dept speaking ) “we don’t have copy for this article so we’ve developed the concept for this layout with Greek.” Then you add the exact copy you’ve shown above. Note: “Is lorem ipsum a fake language?
      To a degree, Lorem Ipsum is gibberish, but it is rooted in a real language: Latin. “
