Saw him years ago in Houston. He reminds of Beck the emotionless way he played, stoic and stood still. was mesmerized and put under a trace Kurts music is a sedative for me.
I was thinking the same thing.....you know ' house concerts' are a big thing with aging musicians who just don't want to drive from city to city, from bar to bar. It pays GREAT. and it's easier than all that touring. When you're in Kurt, league or level, I sense that he MUST tour a LOT to make any money.....and let fact it:: we want to get paid. He's not hurting, two kids, a wife and a house. NO apparent vices that will drain his finances and leave him OD'd in a beat up tour buss. Pitchfork, which is sponsoring this, obviously paid for all the trappings, the house, which a t first, looked really nice -- I'm assuming it's' some sort of recording studio. You could. bring a whole band there in the middle nowhere, and upstairs -- look at all the bedrooms. Now that records are a thing of pass and most scoff at paying me music -- even me, at 63 -- I'm just not paying for it. I've bought enough LPS. Kurts's looking sweet these days....his independent label, which I know nothing about, takes care of him, and he can work. This is all made to look so easy -- but in reality, it's SO HARD to do well enough to make a good career of it --Good luck to those who try -- JMHO. thanks!
The Setlist: 02:45 Loading Zones 06:37 Check Baby 14:15 Bassackwards 20:50 One Trick Ponies 26:26 Cold Was The Wind 32:28 Hysteria 38:31 Skinny Mini 45:10 Wakin on a Pretty Day
Just went searching for this. I was in a Kurt mode and was like where the hell did it go. Such an essential performance especially when you first get into him. Great to jam out to.
KV just brightened my day, world, year. He’s just so talented and just keeps churning out top top tunes all the time. Long live KV, way to go👍🏼👍🏼This concert is just ace👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
No Joke, I've probably watched this more than I can count on 2 hands! It's awesome. I had it on heavy rotation for a while and now I'm coming back. Kurt Vile is an artist that I liked immediately. My first song was Bassackwards and I have not looked backwards since. Honestly, I'm so grateful this is on TH-cam. I read in the comments that Pitchfork removed it! I can't believe they'd do such a thing. I'm glad there are people looking out for people who already appreciate this and those who will appreciate it.
What I want to know is what happened to his recorded solo performance of "Baby's Arms". I dont know if it was pitchfork who featured it, but I do remember it was from about late 2009 to early 2010, and kurt was performing in what looked like a backyard around a fire pit. My minds ear flutters from the thought alone.
Wooow! Thanks for this piece of art… I’ve just found out Big Indian Springs: what a beautiful place! What beautiful people, too. Kurt is soooo lovely, so professional, such a beautiful soul he is! ♥️ the Violators 🖤🤟🏽 ps: anybody can tell what is the second name (surname) of the guitar player, Adam? I had a beautiful conversation with him, in Prato, Italy 🇮🇹 talking about music… he used to play in a band called Sunburned hand of the Man, check it out! PS2: How many times have I used the adjective “beautiful “? 😂 WE LOVE KURT VILE AND THE VIOLATORS! Wooo 😎👋🏽✨ Shine on you💫
360p??? I too did not realize this gem was stripped from TH-cam. Can we get it at a higher res? Unbelievable that they'd pull this down off the legit site.
I'm 52,started going to shows since the age of 2. My biggest regret is not staying for this guy on November 8, 2019 at the Criterion in OKC. Dinosaur jr opened and that's who I wanted to see. Biggest regret.
I have'nt been this moved by a new(for me) artist since I discovered Jeff Buckley. Every song is so powerful. When I was in Paris I was knocked out by the women. It was a huge fashion show. They were so beautiful. They looked like they got up early and took 2 hours to put on their make up and clothes...models..all of them. I feel like KV's songs are like that..beautiful expressions that he put alot of time into. I'm rambling...
Thank you this is quite Wonderful so glad you shared... Very nice. Please for the Record please tell me you used some kind of " fossil fuels" to construct your very enjoyable presentation. I am stuck behind enemy lines in Commiefornia and I sometimes look for reality checks wherever one might find active synaptic arrays.... Please verify if possible.... Thank you again...... Especially Sharing....
There is one fully filmed gig that I watch frequently, which is P.J. Harvey from 1994, I think: th-cam.com/video/LlQlbJnAmg4/w-d-xo.html - but this one of Kurt Vile has become my second go to; it is sensational.
I appreciate this video to the utmost degree.
Saw him years ago in Houston. He reminds of Beck the emotionless way he played, stoic and stood still. was mesmerized and put under a trace Kurts music is a sedative for me.
Like watching a great downer movie.
Some of these songs are better here than on the album. This video is my number 1 of the year for sure. It’s like your own personal concert
I saw Kurt and the Violators in a small venue and it was just like this video. I highly recommend catching them live.
no question about it. These sound way better than the album versions, damn.
There are different elements to appreciate god bless Kurt and the band.

all that said, did he and the band get paid for the gig? Recording in a big farm house is NOT getting paid. CASH is. Thanks.
I watch this so often. Thats my absolute favorite Video 🙌

Damn right it's a fine performance. So glad to see this back on ✌😊
Agreed! it was hard to find for a while.
Are you kidding..? This is exactly the kind of music I sought 30 years ago x
I grew up listening to 60s and 70s music, Vile is up there with the best of them.
Same here and I get a little Lou Reed feel from this vid
6:36 Check baby
14:14 bassackwards
20:49 one trick ponies
you rule

I have listened to this live set 100+ times. Kurt is the vibe king.
I can't tell you how much I was stressing trying to find this. Use to solely listen to this and take afternoon naps.
This was the best thing that happened during covid man. This is sooo good.
Why the hell did pitchfork take this down? This performance is what got me into Kurt.
KV changed label

Same here, this was new shortly after I got really into him. Then it disappeared for a bit.
RIP Rob Laakso...
Rob was an inportant Violator.

Thanks for (re) uploading this. Couldn't find it for a bit. Great stuff!
Tanita Tikaram's Twist in My Sobriety brought me to Kurt. New to me, and loving it.
This……this is what it’s all about.❤
These guys are awesome! 😎💯❤❤❤
thanks i love this one

excited to see them at Red Wing Festival this year!
Sick show. Kurt is the best.
Excellent
Miss you, Rob.
So sorry to hear about Rob Laakso. Way too young. 🙏✌
Sensational
This was a great "practice set." Why ever would they take it down???
Unreal, farout and outta sight, man 😅😅😅...
At times, reminds me of Greg Sage and the Vipers' sound 😅😅

The effect he used in the first one sounds like the same pedal Sonic Youth used on Diamond Sea. I wonder if he borrowed the exact pedal from Thurston.
anyone know where this was filmed? the catskills?
Yes
holy cow. this is so damn fine ❤
anyone know when this was recorded?
Wicked sound
In a world of crappy music that all sounds similar there is Mr. Vile!!!
Anyone know the name of the song @6:40?
"Check Baby"
"Check Baby!" It's SICK!
Please someone tell me what the song at 39:00 was
Skinny Mini
check old man
Hi, whats the track at 32.21? TIA
Wow, it's hysteria. What a better arrangement here!
Fact is, pitchfork can suck it……this right here………..is what it’s all about.
why would they remove this video... ?
