Just got the red 2005 isport 2.3L hatchback with 109k miles, no accidents, new rims, tires, shocks & motor mount & 1 owner for $5500 in San Antonio. It was a Honda dealership trade-in.

@@guzforce When the temperature goes over 100 degrees the gear shifter sticks in park sometimes due to an overheated coil in the shifter. The solution is to run the air conditioner a couple minutes & keep a small towel on the gear shifter.

Thinking about getting one. What's some of the most major issues you've had or that the car has previously had before? Could be as big as a gasket blown or as small as new calipers. Thanks in advance!

@@MyNameIsMango biggest amount I put into it was coil packs. One went out, so I just had all six replaced. But that wasn’t too terrible. At the same time, I had a full tune up done. Nothing other than that, other than general wear and tear items.

@@MyNameIsMango I’ve had one for quite a while now and I know a lot about them.
First off, I’d say the most important aspect to this car is ensuring you find one with the 6 speed trans because it’s a Toyota transmission. The 5 speed is a Jatco trans and their not nearly as good.
As far as maintenance, I’ve had to replace all of the motor mounts, the ac compressor & condensor, the coil packs, alternator & battery, and the valve cover gaskets.
However none of that stuff is major or costs a lot on this car, and that’s all stuff that nearly every car will need with the exception of maybe a Toyota, and even then it’s likely you’ll need similar work done. However the engine and trans (assuming it’s a 6 speed) should last 300-400K miles easily. Their very reliable.

So why this over a 2013ish mazda 3 with a manual? These are really nice cars do you still drive this thing? Also is it fast?

Check those over head cam bolts. They can get loose.

@@SyberCollie will probably need things done to it here and there, but certainly cheaper than having a $1000 car payment each month since that’s the new average for a car payment these days. This is why I’ll be picking up a ‘66 Ford Galaxie 500 in the near future, needs work but can’t really complain. Besides, it has the 289 V8 which later on became the 302 in 1968, wouldn’t be surprised if it has 162,000 original miles on it.
