    Am I the only one who likes how the galleon looks? It’s one of my favorite given it’s role.

    the Chalice gets a bad write up in rogue trader but if used as you should use fast relativity lightly armoured ships it really can go well and with the power bonus you can really have some nasty firepower

    Although we never know what those forward facing guns on the wings/fins of Imperial ships are, I like to think that they're particularly large and powerful weapons that can either independently or combined deliver the same power as a broadside. So you can shoot forward without making your ship a wider target.

    conquest is not a beauty (because of "fat-ish" shape), but is stil one of the best ship, imperium may offer. And do not forget, that in 40K, "old design" means "probably much stronger than todays design". and especially when in possession of successfull rouge traders, the chances are pretty high, for this ship to have some special surprise (even archeotech, or xenotech surprise for combat situation.)

      Ironically, the older something its the more advanced it probably is technologically.

    So the Chalice class is like a Starfleet vessel. Rupturing plasma conduits all over the place.

    TY for all the Imperial Navy ship videos, understanding this aspect of 40k is very interesting. Of all the ships in this video I found the last class the most fascinating as it was the oldest & I really like that its rouge trader lore. Being reffered to as a Star Galleon definatley piques the curiosity & the fact that its a weaponized transport thats rated as a cruiser says alot about how well modified they are. I would however not want to leave port w/one unless I had @ least 2 destroyers escorting me though. I was suprised it had a rather "smallish" crew size, but a rouge trader would probably count on picking up 20-30 thousand extra troops along the way & its easy enough to convert cargo space into barracks. TY again GDR & keep up the great work!

      Glad you are enjoying them. I would probably prefer a proper cruiser myself too. Even if I were a rogue trader I'd just modify one for more cargo space while still keeping superior firepower. However, a galleon would be useful when you need to transport a lot of cargo if you can get another warship as escort maybe.

    Interesting mix of ship design philosophies! The Star Galleon does not disappoint. Never heard of one before, now it's my favorite Imperial ship. Flavorful inclusion, switches things up.

    Did the Emperor have his own flagship?

    • @GrimDarkNarrator
      @GrimDarkNarrator  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He did. The battleship "Imperator Somnium".

      I hope more lore is added to it. It is the Flagship of the Emperor himself, it should be the most powerful ship in the Imperium. Something as big if not bigger than the Furious Abyss and her sister ships. If it was designed to be for the Emperor or even by him, then it would be the highest honor to captain it if it is still around.

      Actualy, Emperor had 2 ships, wich both served during the great crusade as "flagships". First is "Bucephalus" and sedond (used to the end of great cruasede) is imperator somnium (Btw it is written, that it was so large, its presence influenced the tides on the planet Ulanor). There is a hint of some third "ship" by wich Emperor got from Earth to Mars, before he took mechanicum into the imperium, but it is probably a kind of lander, not full blown hyperspace capable warship.

      Not likely the Custodes, nor the ministorum would agree to some tinkering with His stuff. Church will use it as mobile cathedral, never to see a battle, Navy or Marines both will use it for fighting and probably loose it in a few milenia and i highly doubt the possibility, the custodes will give up the ship, witouth direct order from the throne.

      Probably because they are freighters and not warships.
