- Joining some of cycling's most interesting characters for a chat and ride on the cyclist's favourite roads. For this episode of the Cafe Ride Series Matt joined Katusha Alpecin pro and former Hour Record holder, Alex Dowsett, for a ride around Essex, a cafe stop at the famous Blue Egg and to learn more about how he grew up around racing.

There is a certain quality that great actors have. It's not just acting talent, it's the unique quailty that makes you WANT to watch them on-screen. I guess it's what they call charisma. Matt is LOADED with it! It's just that likeability that comes through and makes you enjoy watching him, whatever he's doing. Great job Matt!! Who else would love to see him paired with Phil on Tour TV coverage?!
Enigma71559 He would be wasted with Phil. Matt is light years ahead and far more knowledgeable. He should stay on Eurosport where the best technical and tactical commentary is.

Re-watching the Cafe Rides and realising how many things we took for granted before COVID. What I wouldn't give to be able to sit in a cafe and chat to a friend right now..... 😥

Funny to hear Alex talk about his Dad, I always used to gravitate to chatting to his Dad on the club rides because I remembered him from watching BTCC and Endurance at Brands etc, he was a talent of his day. Alex always has time for the youngsters on the rides.

that was a very delightful chat!
Alex is very humble he took part in a relay race with three teamamates that lasted over 24 hrs .... he accidently gave a teamate a helping push during the relay exchange..and knocked him over.. his teamates could not stop making fun of him and bring this up on various times they meet him. Those are the memories that last.
