- A neo pro with a serious palmares to her name. For this episode of The Cafe Ride series with Matt Stephens we headed out to the Liege region of Belgium to meet Elynor Backstedt. Learning more about the Gent Wevelgem winner, the step up from the junior category and her favourite place to ride in Wales, we had a blast getting to know the Trek Segafredo rider and we are sure you will too.

GCN lost out on losing Matt Stephens, congratulations to Sigma Sports picking him up, his laughter and banter is second to none. I am loving these cafe rides.
Lucy Reeves I think GCN is still putting out great content. Add Matt Stephens to Sigma and I consider it a win-win with different content/delivery from each channel.
@@stevesmith3606 For me GCN has one good video every so often and the two new presenters aren't good enough in my opinion
I believe it was Matt’s choice to leave to concentrate on his commentary stuff rather than GCN. These videos are brilliant especially the one with Pippa York. GCN still lead the way in cycling though it’s a godsend for cycling fans
I've not watched a lot of GCN since Matt and Emma Pooley left the show, I'm over 30 and not a racer.

PS - Taking into account that this was done before the COVID-tainted days began I still can't tell you how videos like this have brightened these somewhat dark and cloistered days for so many of us. Speaking of what type of rider Elynor could be.... The most exciting thing about Women's World Tour racing is that they have to be good all rounders. The women's Peloton does not have they specificity as the mens so they have to be good at everything at that to me is what makes the women's racing so amazing to watch!!

Dear god……she’s dancing on the pedals on that climb and chatting away like she’s in the living room. Matt was grinding in the saddle, huffing and puffing.

The vegetable looks like a large striped beetroot. Striped varieties go by a lot of different names such as 'Bassano,’ ‘Bull’s Eye,’ ‘Candy Stripe,’ and ‘Chioggia'.

Hey great vid, on her bike what is under her garmin is it a light or a go pro? If light do you have any details of which one it is
Most likely it is a Trek light, possibly the ION 200 RT/Flare RT combo. Take a close look @ 1:20 in the video. She has the front light on some sort of aftermarket mount below her computer. www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/equipment/cycling-accessories/bike-lights/bike-front-lights/c/E416/

Hugo Young not sure what the mount may be. It could be a Bender-type setup. I have an Ion 350 R that I use on K-Edge Go Big handlebar mount.

I love these films. I hope her career goes well and the women's tour can survive the crisis. First noticed her, admittedly because of her family name, on BBC world championships coverage and track results on cycling news. I hope she continues to progress to the highest level.
On a slightly related point, it's shocking that INEOS can't fund a women's team. I guess they're too busy making PR films about delivering hand gel for their tax avoiding (note: not evading!) owners in Monaco.

Great video. Wish the both of you all the best. On another note which may seem insignificant to some, I was after some touch up paint fir my new specialized crosstrail. After being let down by my bike supplier Sigma Sports sorted it out super quick. Of course I will be repaying them back by future purchases. Lesson to other cycle and sports firms, look after your customers.

Where Elynor is based it is easy to (barring COVID-19) travel to races and there is a good mixture of roads out there, from hillier routes around Liege to the flatter Flandrian lanes. Thanks, Dan
