  • Rebuilding this motor had a few complications. First having the cylinder getting stuck to the crank shaft. Then finding out the crank was completely rusted together. Then having to find enough parts around the shop to make it work.
    We did end up getting a fully build motor using mostly parts lying around the shop. Next time we are going to have to get everything ready to ride! We may need some new tires and tubes or possibly even a new carburetor! Either way this build is going to keep getting more and more fun as we go!!

    so interesting to see how folks do things differently. lots of little details i worry about that are probably unnecessary, like torque specs, but for a rough stock junker what you've done is probably fine. that is a hi torque cylinder by the way, which technically requires a special piston (#22 in your case). It'll be interesting to see how that piston runs and if it will rattle. the 4 hole exhaust, jet, and deleted head gasket are what makes that a 2hp. you've got it set up for a 1.5hp right now. i would have recycled that crank with all that pitting.

      I agree about the crank, it’s junk for sure. However like you noticed, yeah it’s pretty much just a junker. Something we can play around with modify and drop around. I’ll keep an eye on the piston as well! Didn’t realize a special piston went into the high torque cylinders. I honestly don’t expect this cylinder to be on this bike for toooooo long either way.

      Also I should mention, I’m self taught here. No one’s ever told me how to do anything, I’ve just pretty much done trial and error throughout my experience. Obviously looking a few things here and there when things get serious.

      I just bought a new hi torque piston for one of mine. Hard to find. I have a hi torque project that I’m working on

    When ever i take a engine apart i always put in a new crank bearing and seals so i can have a solid bottom end for futrue upgrade u gotta make the customer happy and your pocket happy in my case time is money i dont do it for fun it my side hustle but hey nice video

      So you wouldn’t put a rusty crankshaft in a bike? Haha me either that’s why I kept this one. Been eying up a few crankshafts recently to install so we can have some serious fun with it.

    11, 22, 33 are high torque cylinders and can probably be classified as 1hp, 1.5hp and 2hp

    How do you keep an engine clean without oxidation and dust? Ofcourse you can prevent driving in the rain. But is there a wax or something I can put on to preserve it?

    • @RestoCycles
      @RestoCycles  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could try using an aluminum polish. That should definitely help. However, especially with these old 2 strokes it’s hard to clean the engine clean. Constant cleaning and detailing haha
