If you have mini,by the end of the day you may have left with 5-10% battery . If you have bigger phones you may have 30-40% battery at the end of the day .But still you have to charge the bigger phones every night because you don’t want to start the next day with only 30 percent battery in your phone. So for me it does not make much difference. I want a small size phone that I can operate in one hand and pocket it easily .
Exactly, you hit the nail on the head. But the best thing about smartphones since 2008 and earlier is how they can fit in the pocket and be used everywhere. I'm going to love my 12 Mini, using it with one hand!

I used an original SE from launch until the new SE released, then upgraded to the new SE. However the new SE is still a little too big, so I'm upgrading to the Mini.
The new SE is horrible. I too used the old SE for a long time but i upgraded to Xs instead, the new SE only had smaller display and not much smaller body, its not a compact flagship like the old SE was but a budget model.

Now I have an iPhone 11 and still have the habits that I acquired but I always miss having a smaller phone.
Finally! Finally a great review. Literally every other review just said it's an iPhone 12. No one reviewed the unique aspects of it and how it affects day to day life. You hit all the right details and covered everything no one else did, really trying to understand the point of the phone and the kind of person looking to buy it. Except... RAM. It seems like Apple has given the 12 a shorter life than the Pro with 2GB less RAM, and only 1GB more RAM than the X from three years ago!
Preordered one, and been waiting for something like this since original SE. I even answered an Apple customer survey on phones to specifically ask for something like this, and now it’s here. I have AirPods, but I still prefer to have an option for a headphone jack...

@James R Davies (Disgybl 2014) that is both cool and disappointing at the same time. The 2018 model still hold up really well, so I’m not in a big hurry to upgrade, but it sounds like I’ve got a lot to look forward to.

Yasssss. So excited for this. Preordered the 12 mini in blue last week. Can’t get here fast enough. My iPhone 7 is on its last leg...it does not function as a phone unless I’m using my AirPods.
Been asking for this for years so yeah, definitely loving this release! Ordered and waiting for delivery. So glad the features were not scaled back on the mini. Many will say it is SMALL with emphasis because of the bigger counterparts, However, for many like me, it’s just right! Probably the only one that’s right sized. Don’t forget people using iPhone 8Plus have 5.5” screen while this is about there even, with 5.4”. :)
This is the natural successor to the original SE. I have ordered one of these. I have been using the SE for years waiting for Apple to produce a truly small phone. IOS after all was designed for small phones anyway. Awesome if retro ( relatively speaking) design. Can't wait to get mine on Friday
iPhone 12 mini is the ideal size for a phone. Also, people’s obsession about battery life isn’t justified because the battery life is significantly better than on any 4.7 inch iPhone and probably better than on the X and XS.
Thank you for your in-depth review of these iPhone 12 models. From the video watching point of view (time code: 3:20) the Mini & SE does not seem much difference when watching in the original 16:9 expect ratio; however, when reading contents (time code: 4:20) the Mini & Max both model are able to fit words like "Cupertino" on the world clock and "Today Show new" in the wedged but the standard 12/12 Pro would not due to they have less pixel density. I wish Apple would make a " there is one more thing..." iPhone 12 Pro Mini with IBIS + larger camera sensor and I would not even think twice about the smaller battery since the charging cable are mostly available either in the house or in the car when connected with Apple CarPlay.
They hadn't zoomed in to the video! The notch covers up a very small part of the video when zoomed-in watching a video with that ratio, but it's more than worth it for me, using an iPhone 10s. If he'd zoomed in, it still looks amazing, and gives you a much bigger image with a, you know, like 9% loss of content from the notch.
I've had my 7 for three years now and the battery suffers when I browse or check email. Had enough of it but didn't want to get the 11 because of the size. Thank you apple for this mini-Now I have to spend hours finding the right deal for me at the right price.
So pumped to move from my iPhone XR with its larger 6.1” display, which can cramp my hand if I hold it too long, to the iPhone 12 mini! I’m really glad they didn’t skimp on features with this phone either.
Ordered one today. My first ever smartphone. Been resisting modern tech for years but finally caved in. Not keen on the look of those big paddle phones and I'm coming from an internetless Blackberry 3g. Judging by all the reviews, I think I got it right first time. Looking forward to using Apple pay, not sure what else will interest me about the phone but who knows.
My bestie got this not long ago for her first phone, she was.only 11. She got the mint green colour and it's so beautiful and the camera is outstanding.
Using my white mini for a month now and it’s great. I came from an XR, and the weight difference is so worth the upgrade. I’m also loving the camera and OLED display. And yes, fits my pockets, that’s another plus. I use mine with a case, which I remove every time I charge it. Battery to me is fine, well, I don’t compare it with my XR’s. I use a fast charger so that helps a lot. I hope Apple continues to make this product. It has its own niche. Thanks for your review.
As an owner of a 5SE I jumped at the chance to get this one when the 5 died. It is lovely the only complaint I have is the large notch at the top of the screen. Hides the points on my Word Link game.
Great review. Will answer your questions. I miss the iphone 4&5 designs, so yes, I’m anxiously waiting to see this mini. To your 2nd question... is it small enough? If it is, I’ll be happy to give up the extra battery life, camera, and lidar technology from the Pro for the comfort of an appropriately sized smart phone.
I am an Android user 100% and been using Pixel 4 for its "compact size" but even that is too big for my front pockets. So when I read that Apple is releasing a mini device with pretty much good specs, I thought to myself "why not?!" I will give it a try, as this is the perfect/ideal phone size for my usage.
Only issue is that battery will decrease performance as any phone does leaving you with even less battery life sooner than later. But question is how much we use compared to when we had an iPhone 5? For example? Will fit a lot of people for sure.

The best part about this small phone is that it actually has a 'big enough' screen at 5.4". I played around with one in Best Buy yesterday. The phone is physically sized exactly between the original iPhone SE and the iPhone 8, bigger than the SE, but not as big as an iPhone 8. AFAIC, it is the perfect physically sized phone. But the screen is bigger than both those phones!! I think Apple has a real winner on their hands here. By the way, if you hate really large phones but don't want to go as small as the Mini, I have to say that the iPhone 12/12Pro is actually a really nice sized phone considering it has a 6 inch screen, actually smaller sized than the old iPhone 8+
same and i wanted an upgrade but ive been waiting for the notch to be gone. it’s good that apple still support 6s+ and i hope they do so until they decided to at least make the notch smaller
I held on to my iPhone SE 1 waiting for this phone. But the price point is a shame. It's only 100 dollars cheaper and you get less battery life than the iPhone SE2, which is much cheaper. Still on the fence, but I don't see any reason why I would not switch to an Android phone, like the Pixel 4A.

Just got mine! So far, loving it, although I'm worried about heating. Might be just processing a lot of stuff in the back right now, but I'm waiting to see ....
this for me this is the exact size of an everyday to go phone. id be honest, i was just driven by the marketing hype when i bought the 11 pro max. it's tech is too much for me that i barely maximize the use of all them. i have an slr, a mirrorless and an action cam; all of which i use when im on a specific type of work. my 11 pro max? texting, viewing contents on socmed and youtube. the price of this one is just enough for the larger market out there wishing to get a full screen size phone in a compact body which today no other competitor has done yet. if your just an average consumer like me, i would go on this 12 mini over the 12 pro max.

Best review I’ve seen. I love my iPhone 12 mini. The blue is gorgeous. Feels so light. I find myself navigating through apps and texting a lot faster now. Plus, I’m always near chargers and usually put it in low pwr mode when not in use. Great phone ! Slap a case on it and you’re good to go.
I can see the passion in this guy's eye when he talks about that phone.
so basically they didn't need to remove the headphone jack to fit everything in lol
Shhhhhh lol
Just like they need to remove A track taped opps old tech 🤦🏿♂️
Are you still using wired earphones? Why?
Menkir Dennis Yeah but if you can afford an iPhone you can afford airpods which I use for the whole day of online classes
I order one. I use at the moment the iPhone 8. the 12 Mini is smaller but the Screen are bigger. Perfect
Soon I can afford that!😇🙏
i can afford that wnen apple releases iphone 13)))
until then im going rip out all debts, put my braces on and the other things to live))
I grinded real hard for it, felt good when i had enough when the phone came out
Ordered one and finally LOVE an updated original SE that I loved for a long time! I HATE large phones.
The black still doesn’t quite look black. It still looks more space gray or indigo black.
I like the indigo black now that you mention it
Wow. Just found you guys today, and although plenty of people have said this already, the dude in this video is OUTSTANDING!! I subbed, and I look forward to more great content!
I loved the review from this guy
Got the I phone 12 mini in purple I ❤️ it I prefer smaller phones I have had an XR and 7 plus and the performance and battery is great on the 12 mini only 1 charge every 24 hrs and I use my phone a lot and it fits in my pocket hope Apple keep making small phones Thanks for sharing X
You are natural for doing reviews..CNET should pay you handsomely sir.
I just got one couple days ago it’s wonderful! It’s what a phone should be like IMO.
Nice review man! Great charisma!
Best review of the mini and I’ve watched a ton
My iPhone 6S is still going strong, undecided whether to upgrade to the 12 yet though
Bro same the only problem is it crashes so often to FaceTime
If I were you I would.
I want one and I am on an A41.
same and i wanted an upgrade but ive been waiting for the notch to be gone. it’s good that apple still support 6s+ and i hope they do so until they decided to at least make the notch smaller
The absolute dream phone.
Can't wait to open my iPhone 📲 12 mini even though I carry a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 as u know it's pretty big which I'm use to but I've been wating for a phone 📱 this small. All the reviews I've seen are awesome 👍 about the new mini 12 📲 I can't wait for Christmas 🎁 to open it
Good development. Now just make it 0.2 inches smaller next time 😊👍
I'll go with the 11 unless this goes as cheap as it. I need the bigger display and battery.
Who still uses the original iPhone SE everyday?
I’ve gone through a few. Just preordered the mini.
my uncle does and although he is considering upgrading to the mini
The mini is STILL too big. The screen is still b igger than the new SE even though the body is smaller. It will therefore be harder to use.
@@tek5670 Buy the SE then
@@codybruner7608 I already did a month ago
It's long been I'm looking for a such small phone. Finally it's real. Hopefully I could wait another 1 year to make it true to my budget
Picking one of these up next month, can’t wait to ditch my XR!
How have you found the battery? I have a XR also . I’m due to upgrade next week.
okay I really like this review ✨
I love my mini as well. Pretty awesome and it’s very snappy.
This is the phone I’ve been waiting for. I’ve had the iPhone 5 since it’s launch
Boxy looks great 🔥🔥🔥
Great review and even better reviewer
Ordered
Wish it had telephoto instead of ultra-wide
I like this reviewer. Well humored, informative.
This guy review is the best i have ever seen !
In case anyone is wondering, it was the CSI: Miami line that locked in my "Thumbs Up."
The only legit CNET reviewer, IMO.
Even though the battery sucks but the idea of having a high performance processor in a small phone is something else
Great presenter. Informative. Fun. Not cringey.
Damn it, Tim ! The iPhone 12 Mini looks adorable. It’s insane knowing that it’s more powerful than any Android phone. 😁🎤
Android user here.
I see what u did there, lol.
U may b interested to know that I am hoping this will push samsung to produce something as small as the original iPhone se. Or smaller!
I am writing this on an A41, which is Samsung's smallest with a fingerprint scanner.
@@Ag3nt0fCha0s 😁 Samsung is rushing to release the S21 in January now so who knows, you might get one. I'd hope it's not one of their cheap-looking plastic phones.
@@nuyou21 Performance is heavily dependable on temperature management and battery discharge capacity.. It is likely that the phone is faster for 3 minutes then it gets throttled.
@@4rzaluz 😁 Apple just put out a software update.
And has poor battery life!
“Apple doesn’t share the battery size”, mate it takes a five second google search or plug the phone into a PC and use Imazing or 3utools. 2,227 mAh, Same applies to the amount of ram google search. 4GB, the pro models have 6GB, for anyone wondering.
A small phone with an amazing camera and a amazing battery is the absolute combo and need. Perfect buy with a great tablet for anyone.
Nice video. Is tat bad the typing experience? I have thick fingers and that makes me boubt between the mini and the regular 12. I love the size of the mini. Cheers
Really liked the reviewer. Nicely done 👌
I love my 12 Mini!
Patrick, you are just awesome! Love your reviews and originality. A tech poet. What`s not to love? :-) Best for 2021.
Excellent review. Upgrading to this from the 8
Glad it was helpful!
