Hi! The black Krylon paint is $6 on Amazon. The clear coat was $7, and the Scotchgard is $9. So if you bought everything new, That would be $28 total for both chairs, with some product left over. I already had the black spray paint and the Scotchgard from another project so I didn't cost me that much. 🤗 But even if you had to buy everything new, $28 is cheaper than buying 2 new chairs!
They have held up well! One chair I kept under a covered porch and it has held up the best. The second chair has been exposed to all the elements uncovered, and I see a little of the paint starting to flake away on the seat portion. I think I'd recommend routinely hitting it with the clear spray and Scotchgard! 🤗
I haven't tried it personally, but I have seen videos where people clean them and do the same process of spray painting and sealing! If it's not something you mind experimenting on, you could always just try spraying it! 🤗
It used almost a can per chair, so depending on how heavy you spray them, you should have some left over but yes I used almost 2 cans for the 2 chairs. 🤗
A few months later and they look great! I definitely recommend the Scotchgard weather proofing after the clear sealant! 🤗 The water just beads right off of them.
Thanks so much for you video! Just found you by googling spray painting patio furniture. I have a two seat swing that came with the house that also has that mesh backing. Definitely going to try your technique!
I was wondering if you could get the same results from painting with a brush and roller? Our set has chips on the paint and I'd like to lighten up the color, thanks.
I haven't tried it, but I bet if you used outdoor paint it could work the same, as long as it was also sealed afterward with a clear paint and the weatherproofing (Scotchgard). Let me know if you try it! 🤗
Lol! We actually moved away from Florida (although we did love it!) So I can't vouch for the wear and tear from that climate. We're in the coastal Mid-Atlantic now which is where I painted the chairs, but it's not as humid as Florida. I would still give it a try and see how it holdd up! 🤗
So it cost $25 for the black paint per chair. Then you had to add a clearcoat which I will presume is another $25. Then you added Scotchgard, which I guess will be $12. Total cost per chair $62. Actual cost of the chair, $50. Let’s presume your labor isn’t worth anything. You could’ve saved $12 per chair just by buying you. Will your spray paint last?
Makes sense! I usually have the spray paints on hand already from other crafts, so it cost me less than buying everything but yes new chairs are awesome 🤗
Thank you so much. I have the exact same chair and I was getting ready to toss and buy a whole new set. You saved my pocket book lol

I’d love to know how the sprayed chairs held up? Any learnings after a year of use? :)

Thank you, have a similar set of chairs that need this treatment. Only thing to look up now is for the table which has plastic top?

Has the paint on the mesh cracked over time?
It hasn't yet! 🤗
Did you say 1 can per chair?

Smart
So how has this held up? Mine chairs are in direct sunlight… did the protectants help?thanks for this video

@@MarissaExplains thank you for responding I truly appreciate the info.
How many cans of paint do you use on each chair? Also, what happens with the extreme heat? Did the color run at all onto your clothing???
@@ginaadam3983One can per chair.
Thank you!
How are the chairs? Does the clear sealant help?
Did you have any color transfer on your clothes
Not at all! The clear sealant helps, as does the Scotchgard weather proofing spray. It's held up well after many rains. 🤗
@@MarissaExplains
Okay thanks a million because
I'm going to do this and I'll be sure to seal.
@@vivibottoms3028 yay!! I hope it turns out well! The Scotchgard helps the rain roll off too, so it was a game changer 🤗

@@charissejohnson9021 I hope it turns out well!! What color are you thinking? 🤗
Did your paint come off you to your clothing
No it didn't! 🙌😃

How are they holding up?
So far so good!! I did a test by only Scotchgarding one of them, and it definitely turned out better to use the Scotchgard. Gives it a nice finish. 🤗
But there's still mold on the chair under paint
I scrubbed them really well beforehand with soap and water!
How did it hold up after this long? - a Floridian

As a fellow Floridian I get it. I have a similar chair and I’m amazed at the damage.

The cost for the paint, i would rather buy another set.
