To start off I've got no affiliation or sponsorship deals with QuadLock (unless they want to hook me up that'd be cool), just wanted to share my opinion on it so far.
Secondly this is my first time doing an "install" video so be kind... I'm limited with my resources haha.
Anyways,
I was sick of getting lost on most of my travels as I don't have the greatest sense of direction so I bit the bullet and bought a phone holder for the bike. This video is just a quick unboxing, setup and small test ride. Any questions about the product leave me know below! Also subscribe for more average content!

It says on the website that it supports wireless charging and they even offer a wireless charging head for their mounts to go inbetween the mount and your phone

I had ones my moped with winter spike tires inside the house cuz ignition lock was frozen. But the floor was nice looking after that :D

Has anyone else’s camera quit working right after using the mount? (iPhone 11)
I've heard of this being an issue due to vibrations
Ha love you just pull your bike in the house😂... is the case similar to otter box, like impact protection, or is it just a hard case??
Haha, I store it in the hallway. Bike theft in the city I live in is pretty high so don't trust having it outside! It seems like just a hard case to be honest. Not sure how much impact protection it will do but I'm hoping a bit because I'm clumsy and drop my phone a lot!

I would suggest that you use Loctite on the 3 main screws. The vibrations from the handle bars after riding awhile will loosen the system up.
Yeah, I was thinking that alright but don't want to lock it in the one place incase I want to move the position or change the angle! I'll see how long it holds up on it's own!

Did you remove the cardboard under the extension in the end? I nearly forgot it before noticing it as I was screwing it.

Iv been seeing ads for this case lately and wanted to know how it is, could you please let me know if you are still using it and if so how is it almost a year later?
Hey man! I'm still using it daily & it's shown no signs of wear and it hasn't given me any issues at all. I've heard people saying that the vibrations from it can cause issues with the iPhone cameras, however any phone mount will have vibrations so it might not really be the mounts fault. Other than those things, it's running perfectly for me & I use a Samsung Galaxy S9.
Everyone in my MC who uses it loves it. Some guys go 150+ on the highway all the time and have never had any issues and say it never moves. I ordered one and it's good

Cracking video, just ordered one of these myself, planning a few little road trips so need to get a sat nav sorted and my phone's got to be the easiest option

Will this leave marks on the handle bar of the bike?
I wouldn't think so man as there's a little rubber piece that goes around the handle bar so it's not plastic directly against the bars.
@@LuckyLukeRides thanks for the reply mate. I was just worried before buying it, cause I'll be fitting it to a loaned bike and didnt want any marks on the mirror arm.

It's a solid piece of kit! Was travelling motorway speeds upwards of 140kkph and still no issue with the phone vibrating or any sign of falling off!

Can you adjust this to make the phone turn up to take video of scenery in front of bike and not bike? Also what's the difference between this and motobike one? Can I use motobike on bike too? Im looking for the best one to use with my phone to take video. I have a samsung note 20
Ok just passed my CBT and got a UM Renegade Classic and wanted to do some trips around Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland etc [looked at getting a motobike sat nav [how expensive???] i understand they need to be weather proof but still] This thing looks great though, one of the better built phone mounts too i love how its got that quick release, was going to get the "poncho" but you saved me £20. cheers
Glad I could help man! I'm not sure how much an actual SatNav would be! Google Maps works perfectly on the phone, that's why I bought a phone mount! Yeah, the poncho seems a bit weird, I haven't actually used it yet to be honest. Apparently the S9 is waterproof but I'll have to wait and see what happens if I get caught in the rain haha!
@@LuckyLukeRides I've recently just got my first ever contract phone (s10+) it's meant to be waterproof etc, went into Halfords to look at sat navs n they are around £200+ for motorbike versions so this quad lock looks perfect....was going to use Google maps or Tom Tom go app

No issues with your phone camera? I have a note 10+ so it's an expensive phone to have the camera brake on.
Hey man, I've been using the mount daily since this video and I've had no issues with the camera on my S9.
I've heard of people having issues with iPhone cameras. I'd say your best bet would be to look at different forums online to see if anybody has any issues using the quadlock paired with a note 10+ 🤟
@@LuckyLukeRides Thats good to here. I just ordered it. Heard someone else who had the note 10+ with no problem so I guess I'll give a shot. I have warranty in case it breaks.
Got myself the same kit, I did get a cheapo bar extension kit that you screw between the mirror threads from AliExpress. Tried mounting it the same way you did, but didn't like it as much.
Next thing you'll have to get is a usb charger for the bike. :)

Damaged camera on phone from vibration
I was completely disappointed, I ordered the complete package which includes 3 parts but one of those parts(handlbar mount) is missing screws. When I contacted the support or customer service center, they told me "sorry we can not do anything " and they sent me information about the size of the screws and told me to go buy replacement screws and send them the invoice. I could not find those screws anywhere and all this package without screws is useless.
This would be a great product if it worked and had customer service behind it.

I just got mine and the bar clamp has a hinge on it instead of two screws and the thickest spacer which is supposed to he 22mm was actually only 20mm so I couldn't close the clamp.

I don't know if you've been using it for a couple days now or not but is it worth the money?
I've been using it for about a week now, holds up perfectly even on motorway speeds of 140+, doesn't even vibrate or shake! It's a bit pricey but personally I'm happy I bought it, helps me with the Photo Rally and when I'm travelling in places I've no idea of. Only time will tell what it's like in the long run but as of now I'd say it's worth it!

From the phone? I find that if you try do that the video is very shakey and distorted. Plus the angle I have the phone at is pretty bad for a video haha!

Hey man! I've heard people with iPhones having issues with the vibration damaging the camera. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 & I've had no issues at all & I still use the mount every time I ride.
I don't think vibrations will ever be fully gone, no matter what motorbike mount you have!
They're working on a a vibration dampener apparently. Quadlockcase.net/vibration

Always a little worried that the phone will bounce out of the ram mount I currently have... Been curious about the quad lock ones but didn't know how involved the installation was. Thanks for the walkthrough on this! 👍
Yeah, I would be paranoid with the ram mount, I've seen a few lads with them are they can seems flimsy after a while of use! The Quad Lock is real easy to install and feels solid, even going highway speeds! Only time will tell how good it is in the long run but so far so good! Cheers for watching Kari! 👍
So the quad lock is only one part you have to get the case

my samsung s10 is 100% water proof
Yeah, I've heard that. The S9 is supposed to be 100% waterproof too but if water is directed up the charging port then you can get a "moisture detected" error, even on the S10.

Is the X-Grip the same concept as the Ram Mount? Was going to go with one of those but decided to be different. The pillows had been sat on all day, leave me alone!
@@LuckyLukeRides It based on swapping out 1 of the four steering/handlebar bolts for a longer one with a ball. That's all that stays in the bike if you want. The rest is removable. No specific phone case needed. It's a spring X and it sure does hold the phone.

@@badgerman23 I've had mine (S7) out I'm the rain. Only issue is you need the charging cable in or the charge port gets wet. Then it won't charge until it's dried out

So when you lock it in do you need to push down on blue lever ?
To lock it in place you don't have to. You just push the case and twist.
To un-lock you need to push down on the blue lever and twist!

The mount itself doesn't actually move once it's screwed down but if you want it more upwards you'd just have to angle it that way before tightening I suppose.

What about the vibration will it not damage the phone?
I've heard stories of people saying their iPhone's were damaged due to vibration but that will be the same for any phone mount. My Galaxy S9 has had zero issues since using this and I use it every time I ride 🤟

pinball2002 sorry to hear! it broke the Camera on my phone too. Quad lock refunded and phone get fixed because it was under warranty still troublesome experience
@@mece700 Wow, that's some crazy stuff lads. Again, the design flaw must be with the iPhones because any phone mount will have some vibrations. Glad you got it sorted though:)
@@LuckyLukeRides LOL that is funny, apple failed to consider quad lock in their design shame on you Apple :D I'm pretty sure that the accessory needs to be designed according to device not the other way around. btw no mount should be used with iphone 11 due to optical zoom

Awesome stuff. I've been using it on the bike about a year. The car mount is brilliant too and have it on the mountain bike as well . Great kit.

I just got a 2019 MT-07 here in Cork too! :) Did you do an ECU re-mapping after installing your Akra ? Is it needed? Thinking on getting one soon
Ah deadly man, what colour scheme? :) It says on the Akra instructions that you don't need to re-map the ECU as it tunes itself HOWEVER I put a DNA air filter in and the instructions from them said I needed a re-map so I just downloaded a map from PowerCommander that has the full akra system + dna air filter!

@@jelito Black is the nicest ;) The stock exhaust is awful on them, that's the only issue! The Quadlock is fairly handy now I must say! :)
