Instead of keeping your phone on one side of head while talking to someone else on a phone , now you gotta put your phone on the handlebar talk while bending down to reach handlebar like you are a bike doctor and trying to listen the heartbeat of the Damn Bike .
I am using QuadLock for almost 2 years now, and as a long-term user I am VERY satisfied with the mount, not only the mount, but the customer service also. Heavy price really does pay off...Quality, stability, looks, clicks, protection and 2 year warranty. It got a bit worn out few months ago, just got a bit shaky because I always ride with my phone and my 660cc, single cylinder engine does vibrate "a bit". I've contacted them, and got a reply in a day. They arranged new mount cap and phone case for me free of charge, making my phone *click* and stay in place like the first time I've done it. Big plus for customer support!
wtf thats some inconsistency.. I had the exact opposite experience, bought 2 of them both broke within a year and they wouldn't replace them or even let me buy just the broken part, expected me to buy two whole new units and offered me a 10% discount code...
The rubber safety net on the ram mount is actually more important than people may think. Especially when going fast. My phone almost flew off one time because I hadn’t bothered to put the rubber net on.
My rubber net perished after a year, took the bike for a spin without the net, 110kph on a freeway and my phone lands in my lap, heart stopping moment as I found a safe spot to pull over. On my next bike I'll be getting the quadlock adapter, also handy as I'll upgrade the card mount to quadlock to bring it all together
I started with a fake Ram and I notice that in the arm spring start losing the capacity and with the phone weight, in bumps, the phone change place, and from day one I always used the safety bands. After that I change for the quadlock and as been 2 or 3 years without any problem, it's expensive, but now that i need a phone holder in the car, i just need to have the car mount and all works.
I've got the stem-mounted Quad Lock on my bike and I absolutely love it. I also have a car with a Quad Lock mount so it makes it really easy to switch between the two vehicles and still have a phone mount. Quad lock is more expensive yes, but if you're planning on using it regularly, it's the only mount I've found that doesn't wobble or make you feel like it'll fall off in the middle of the ride.
To bad they don't make the cases for that much different brands. The universal adaptor looks a bit dodgy in my opinion. Could be wrong since i haven't tried it.
@@Diablo97810 I'm using the universal adapter without problems. It's recommended to stick it on a hard case, mine is soft, and doesnt even move if I wheelie a bit or go offroad (I ride a 600XT)
I have a quadlock, and just got the universal phone mount instead of their case. Way better in my opinion, I kept my waterproof and shockproof case (so I dont have to slip on their rain cover), and it's super secure so far after several months of some very aggressive riding. Definitely give it a shot if you have a phone case you love already.
@Spajdi2310 I have the fork mount, it's perfect. Locks tight to the universal phone case mount and after nearly 1.5 years now it hasn't budged at all. Very happy.
The Quad Lock has a “ball” adapter, so if you use a RAM, you can use the arm along with the Quad Lock. The Quad Lock is by far the most secure option, and it’s 4-wheel mount is great as well.
@@gregoryaparker no you idiot. He means if you want to use the ram mount (since it has waaay more options for adjustment and extension) quad lock has a ball attachment so u can still have the superb locking mechanics of quad lock and the ability position the phone anywhere with RAM’s extension options. Oh and quad lock is Australian, not Chinese 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
@@gregoryaparker No. Listen. Carefully. IF YOU ALREADY HAD A RAM MOUNT, you can buy a quad lock with a ball adapter for the RAM mount so you don't have to remove a part you already paid for off you bike...
Do you still need the vibration dampener from Quad Lock if you use the RAM arm? I was advised that the vibration from your bike can ruin your camera's sensors...
I really feel that there is no competition when it comes to Quadlock. Their options were limited when this video was released, but now you can almost mount your phone anywhere on your bike securely, with the option of wireless charging, at any angle, and without the phone case bulge anymore. Quadlock really stepped up their game. I feel like the only reason someone would go to another brand is because of budget. My setup with wireless charging and pivot point on my 23 z900 cost easily $240 including the case. Awesome video! It is very helpful to see all the options in one video. Thank you for taking the time
Yea there is. I have sp connect, its made from aluminium i have a charger on it as wel. The case is still nice and smooth. Its quite expensive if you get the extended arm en wireless charging dock. But its so solid that i can move my steering wheel with my phone
Went down at 50 mph with my phone in a quad lock... My phone was completely unharmed and still on the bike. I took it off the wrecked bike and put it on my next one, still strong
then there's me , my X grip failed to grip my phone and it went down the highway when i was doing about 70 kmph. phone's entire back side was destroyed.
Quadlock is as good as I've come by- I did manage to dislodge the phone after a track day off when the bike somersaulted a couple of times but the phone was unharmed- the cases are great.
I love the Quad Lock system, You might also mention that Quad Lock sells windshield mounts for your automobile and even a belt clip, so the case is usable for more than just your motorcycle or bicycle.
No we haven't, we've found him, he's using British pounds, there are very few people who use pounds so it's nice for the Brits to hear it in our system rather that the 95% of videos using dollars.
I personally choose to use the RAM X-Grip with the Screw attachment to quick attach and detach from any bar as I own multiple bikes it is nice. It just pivots off a single ball and doesn’t have any arm extension so placement can be a bit of an issue at first. But once you find a good place for it, it is a super solid mount! Not having the additional arms creates less point of failure and vibrations. Overall amazing quality product!
I've been using the GUB mount for a very long time and I've never had an ounce of inconvenience. Mine rotates as well but it's rather stiff so it doesn't just move if you bump it. I also enjoy the anti theft thing with the special Allan key you use to secure. If prefer it over the rest.
I started with quad lock but switched to Rokform. I like the overbuilt feeling of the Rokform mount and case. I was never a fan of the odd shaped case from quad lock. Quad lock however did do an excellent job when I used it. It was merely an aesthetics thing for me.
I’ve been using two equivalents of the GUB mount for 6 months now, one on my bicycle, one on my motorbike. You don’t need to pay anywhere near £13 - mine were £6.99 each. They work fantastically well. True you need a part of your bars that faces you as you can’t adjust the side to side angle (the centre, between the forks, is perfect), but they’re super stable, vibration free due to the plastic shim between bars and mount, unobtrusive, and my phone has never ever shown any signs of moving. You do need a case, true, but who doesn’t have a case for their phone anyway? There really is no reason at all for spending huge amounts on a phone mount, especially when they either need their stupidly expensive phone case to work, or look horrendous, or both.
I'm a die hard quadlock user now, I use it in everything now, motorcycle, semi truck, car, it works flawless. I never bothered with the cheaper mounts, used to be a ram mount guy but after losing 2 phones on 2 different bikes I'll never use another one. First phone i lost I didn't have the safety band on so i figured it was my fault. Second one I had the band on and it still popped out so never again. Besides, the safety bands got in the way at times blocking the back buttons on my screen at times. Never had one issue in any way with quadlock
Same here. Ram mount was too fiddly and not secure enough even with the safety elastic thing. Which was a pain to put on even barehanded. Quadlock is a far better product and much less obtrusive when not in use.
RAM mounts are brilliant. I have a bunch of them for different phones, cameras and GPS units. I think the X-Grip and balls absorbs a lot of vibrations and I am free to use whatever case I want. Never used the rubber bands. Now have done well over 160,000 km with RAM.
Been running the Babacom for a few months now due to your video, thank you! It's been a champ, does everything I need it to no complaints. Not once have I been worried about losing my phone. Clever design.
I'm using a GUB Mount, without the "safety net" for a almost 10K Km and haven't had any issues. But I still don't like the look of it, when there is no phone mounted.
yea same here. gub over 2000 km on my klr 650 and cant be stolen easily if you in SA. lol. also on my wr250f and breaks branches. so GUB for me for the win
I have the GUB mount for my Honda Shadow and my Suzuki GSX-s750. For the life of me I can’t understand what this guy has against the GUB. It has been rock solid in my usage and the swivel function has detents that mildly “click” into place to use the phone vertically or horizontally. I tend to over tighten the screw to secure the phone and it has not once damaged my iPhone 7+. I simply pop the phone into the mount, tighten the knurled screw and forget about it. All of this is done with my gauntlets on my hands. The security is top notch. You could dump your bike and your phone will be one of the last things that comes off (if it comes off). Super happy with my GUB.Also, just throw the rubber safety net in the garbage. It doesn’t have any added value in my opinion.
Had the X Grip but its bulk ultimately made me switch to a Quadlock with the USB power option. The great part is that the phone cover goes with both my motorcycle handlebar AND my bicycle one: fantastic versatility which even the X Grip wouldn't provide you with (too bulky for a bicycle mount!).
I bought the quad lock one month ago ! Really good even tho on it's on the expensive side. Personally, i let the case in everytime and just have an extra slimer case in my pocket/bag !
Same here, but even the bands eventually snapped one by one and all the rubber plugs tore and fell off. X-grip sucks ass. Ordered the quadlock the next day.
@Manu Anthony Same here, I leave the quad lock phone case on the motorcycle as if that is the mount. Got a soft gel case for the phone, that isn't an inch thick
Here’s some feedback after using a GUB on a long trip: due to the lack of dampening, the vibrations ruined my phone as the camera internals and vibration motor broke. So next time I’ll either have a softer phone case or a dampening mount.
I can second this. The all metal design of the GUB makes it a stiff setup so your phone will feel every bump on the road. I noticed the camera on my iPhone 11 was damaged after just one day of commuting to work.
Tackform is by far the best mount I've used. Super strong, as it's made of ALL metal, no plastic, with a super strong spring on the clamp, plus corner rubber bands for when I'm off road. And they look really good too! Well worth the money...
Got the quad lock with a stem mount and loving it. Can’t believe ram mounts sell more expensive than quad lock. Seems ram is stealing their customers money.
I’ve been using quadlock since the beginning and I will definitely not change. Literally thousands of miles without a single, minuscule issue! I really, really vouch for the product (of course I now own a lot of iPhone cases 5, 6, 7, x and 11, and only use the 11...).
Smartphone mounts are known to mess with your phones camera. The vibrations from the engine is what destroys the auto focus and OIS. That's why I'd only mount an old phone to my handlebars.
@@rohinhans7819 It does depend on the phone. Optical image stabilization is pretty complex and uses lots of tiny moving parts. Not every phone has OIS, especially in lower end devices. Without OIS there's less that can break obviously. But considering how many cameras current flagship phones have I'd rather not risk damaging them. Especially since some manufacturers won't cover these types of damages in their warranty. I also find that my phone distracts me from riding. But with voice assistants these days I generally don't feel the need to mount my phone on my handlebars anyways.
@@philipe.9466 I'm not sure about other phone brands but apple will cover it. My dad's iPhone had a problem like that from a magnet getting too close to the camera and messed the small magnets in the camera. It dosnt seem to be much of a problem because many use quadlock with out problems
@@rohinhans7819 Yes it may work for some, but there are also many cases on the internet where people destroyed their new phones cameras. Where the manufacturer didn't repair it under warranty. Another thing to consider is the fact that the phone is exposed to the elements. Rain or harsh sunlight can also kill a phone. If you have a phone with an OLED screen you might also suffer from screen burn in. These are all risks you're running when using these mounts. Again it is possible that you'll never have any of these issues, but they do exist. I think Chaos Causes should have included at least a small warning/disclaimer regarding the risks. I'm personally not going to put my phone in such a mount. Should I ever feel the need to mount a phone on my bike I'm going to use one of my old phones, where damage to the battery or camera don't matter as much.
learnt this the hard way :( Phone camera lasted one ride just yesterday... Never had any issues on a basic phone mounted to a bike I traveled though India with and that got an absolute beating covering 10,000km in 4 months. Guess sophisticated phone camera systems are fragile and next time I find I absolutely need navigation on a bike I will be using an older or more simple phone or dedicated navigation system.
I've used the RAM mount X-grip whitout the rubber band for many many years, and love that it takes my phone(s) no matter what case is on it. Hasn't fallen out yet. Knock on wood.. But yes, not pressing the buttons is a little bit of a learing curve but not a problem. Great video with real life tests!
I’ve been using the quad lock with a stem mount this season. I had the same Ram mount setup. The quad lock definitely feels more secure and looks so much cleaner on the bike. Another company does the same style of mount called Rocform but it’s twice the cost.
I just bought the Tackform phone mount for my Goldwing and it is impressive to say the least. Holds really well, I was shaking the phone mount and phone all over the place and it didn't even budge, didn't even have the safety bands on it.
Careful! None of your suggestions isolates modern Phones with OIS (optical image stabilization) from the vibrations of the Motorbike which can result in damaging your Camera. As far as i know only SP-Connect offers a vibration dampening module. Yes the Phone shakes quite a bit in the holder - but this is something you would want: limiting g-forces on the mechanics of your image stabilization...
Yup, very common issue. I just use a phone without OIS though. If I'm travelling I always have a backup phone, which is relegated to GPS duty when on the bike.
I’ve been using a ram mount for years, but not the X grip mount. Ram makes a much better mount called the quick grip. Basically it has 6 rigid claws on the sides and bottom of the phone and 2 claws on a spring latch on top. It doesn’t look as slick as the x grip but it’s a rock solid mount.
Just purchased Quad Lock with Vibration Dampener for HD Sport Glide 2021. Using iPhone 12 Pro. Didn’t bother using the long lever it came with and simply mounted to handle bar. It comes with 2 extra rubber insert seals to mount to specific handle bars of different width, so you are definitely good to go with almost all handle bar size. Rode 600 km one trip and never had to adjust the angle. Will get easier to lock phone to Quad Lock with practice, and removing is a breeze with simple push of the blue arm release. It’s expensive but well worth the $$$. If you’ve invested in an expensive phone, best to get the better phone mount for riding. VERY CLEAN LOOK and doesn’t look like it’s there when the phone is removed. Happy and Safe Riding folks!
I use the ram mount and love it. However, you do need the rubber backing thing for left lane highway riding. I made it 20 miles of my 21 mile commute home from work before my music cut out suddenly as the suv behind me crunched my freshly dropped phone into the pavement.
I am thinking about getting Quad Lock in the near future, and they have improved on their design. There is a all metal design now for the quad lock head, more mounting options, wireless charging, and a vibration mount. And the cases are flat now, so no more wobbly phone on a desk. What are your thoughts on the new version and options?
I’ve been using the RAM mounts for about 5 years. Hundreds of crashes on my old stunt bike and dirtbikes. A few road crashes, and tons of miles using the mount on my mountain bike. The only problem I’ve had was the rubber safety net thing tore, but I was given a new one without question. The button pressing issue can be annoying until you learn where to place the phone.
The great part with Ram are the absolutely vast different choices you have for the mounts. You can mount it on the handlebar, the tank cap (with bolts), the tank (with magnets), to the mirror arm, to the handlebar riser bolts, to the steering stem, to a friggin rail, with a suction cup, with a magnet, with a claw, on your boat, on your jeep... You can use a short arm, a medium arm, a long arm, you can use the X-grip, you can use a quick lock, you can install wireless charging, you can even install a darn self-leveling cup holder. It ain't the cheapest or the prettiest, but you can put it on whatever you want. The weirdest place I've had a customer buy one is on a belt sander. They said they can't hear or feel the vibrations while working so they needed to see their phone. Well, Ram mounts has ya covered.
I lost my phone twice using the RAM X-Mount. I was able to recover it both times, but each time required a replacement screen. I finally gave up and got the Quad Lock. It's a little troublesome some times to lock the phone on, but once you do it stays there, rock steady. I had the same concern as you did when you mentioned the safety bands. They did not instill a great deal of confidence in me. I paid a lot of money for my phone so I'm not going to go cheap on the mount. That's why I opted for the Quad Lock, and almost a year and a half later, I have no regrets over the price.
@@thepineappleburster4439 I've done probably 2000+ miles since I got mine and never had an issue and I live out in the country side where there's lots of bumpy roads.
@@ReevyTCG it's not about it doing it once, it has to do it evey time, you can look it up, many people have lost their phone. Even my dad's ram mount rubber pieces were falling off only after 1000miles
I went from a RAM mount I liked very much to Techmount As the mounting choices for my handle bars is limited. I have triangle shaped bars. But Techmount is also awesome
Interesting to see you discarded the Gub. I use one and am very happy with it. Although mine doesn't rotate 360°, it mounts on a cross and can be put vertically or horizontally. It is very sturdy doesn't shake or wobble. Don't use or need the safety net, it's not necessary. Granted that you need to choose the spot on the handle bar that faces front to you.
Quad lock and gub user here If you're having to constantly remove your phone then quad lock hands down. I have 1 on my e scooter and 1 in my vehicle as I do deliveries. The quad lock phone case works with all quad lock mounts and they are fantastic. I love my quad lock in the vehicle when constantly using GPS. Clicks on in milliseconds and detaches just as fast. The gub works great IF you don't have to constantly remove all the time. It's a cheap be good option.
SP Connect is pretty similar to the Rokform and Quadlock mounts, but the arm band mount option is what sold me on the SP over the others (plus the fact that the ball adapter for the SP Connect is a lot cheaper than the others).
I am quad lock user all the way! I personally use the fork stem mount on my CBR600rr. Very sturdy, easy to use, also looks very nice. You can get different color levers for personalization. If you are worried about vibration at all they make a dampener for that but I don’t find a need. I definitely recommend.
the dampener makes your phone wobble like crazy, but thats not the point. The point is, that modern phones have gimbal stabilisation in their cameras and you can mess them up by shaking them too hard. So in comes the dampener. More wobble, less hard shakes&shocks. This applys to any new phone with image stabilisation, but especialy applies to iphones 12 and up.
I've got the mt-09 as well using a quad lock. I love it and how secure it is, but I've personally smoked my phone's front facing camera because of the vibrations from the engine ruining to camera stabilization system. My phone is still under warranty so I got a new one fairly easily but still something to consider. I do plan on using it still even though my phones camera is at high risk 😂
SP-Connect has a anti vibration module for their mount. I haven´t tried it or heard reviews how effective it is. I just got myself a cheap huawei redmi 8 i use for navigation and music, so i dont care about the camera and the batterylife is great.
@@Denim330 I pretty much used the ruin PIxel 3 XL now for my bike nav and music. I keep my newer phone in my pocket. Can't risk a 3rd phones' camera going down!
I have a Gub style mount but mine has extra long grippers, for thick phone cases and I have been using it for a year now and probably close to 2,000 miles and I love it. Mine didn't come with the rubber band thing cause the longer arms really grip to the phone. I could see why you wouldn't have confidence in the small arms but my longer one's really work just as good as the most expensive mount you tested but my mount never hits buttons, which is why I love it. I tried many mounts when I was truck driving cause I installed a pipe on my dash and a semi truck bounces crazy. I will never get another ball adjustment mount or 1 with alot of plastic. My aluminum one is completely plastic free and on my bike, now, it's completely solid. The mount can only rotate either 90 degrees vertical or 90 degrees horizontal, by undoing a screw and taking it apart and then rotate. It's not adjustable like your Gub mount, which is probably why mine is so solid, on my handlebars or in the semi truck that I used to drive. I have probably tried 40 mounts over the years and close to a million miles dealing with them in my semi truck, but this was my favorite. Plastic over time, eventually will weaken by sun and crack but the one I have is completely Aluminum and over 3 years, it doesn't have that plastic weakness. Downside or my mount is, I can't turn it sideways or up and down without taking the mount apart but I never need to do that because I'm always using my phone up and down, so while driving, I love having the more stable, non movable mount. The screw tightens to any of the phones that I tried, but my friend did have a huge square phone that wouldn't fit but would probably not fit in any mount you tried, because of the width of the phone. It was like a tablet but more square and it's not a phone size that I would want anyways, so I am more than happy with mine. Mine was a little more expensive than your Gub mount but not by much, because it's designed for thick phone cases. I don't like phone case mounts like that twist case that requires a phone case to use because I would have to use the phone that they make a phone case for and I go through phones alot and I would have to get a expensive phone, a phone case for that phone, for the mount, and over time, the plastic might get weak and snap. I broke 2 phones because of that style of mount and the ones I had, you had to make sure it was fully in cause I have had issues where only one side went in and it turned, which made me think it was fully in the mount, but it would fall off right when I was driving. On a motorcycle, it would have hit the ground. I hate a rubber mounts and I won't use them.
Quadlock. I tried the Ram mount and attaching/removing the phone to the Quadlock is much easier, especially to take a quick photo. The elastic safety net of the Ram is way too fiddly.
I got one in the style of the Babacom, except with USB quick charging and Qi wireless charging built into it. About $35 on amazon, and it came with both a bar mount (which didn’t work with my bars), and a mirror mount, which gives a spot for the bar mount to attach (and did work with my bike). Right now, I’ve got a 4” cable from the USB port to my phone, but when I upgrade, I’ll be able to put the weather-proofing plug back into it, and take advantage of quick charging without having to fiddle with a cable.
This was a nice review. Thank you. I think I’ll go with quad lock because they have a full line of mounts for bike, car, desk, and more, including wireless charging, and I can just go from one to the other. Expensive but I need all the help with sanity and simplification I can get.
Interesting video (as always !) As for myself, I used a usb powered version of the RAM. Few main advantages; I choose my own case, cheap as hell as its a mock off (still solid, believe me I tested it), as a USB power port and also I can hyde the phone in a little clear plastic bag in case of rain and still use it. This is a +1 compare to the quad lock !
My GUB didn't come with the bungy back up but hold the phone really well with a case. What I don't like is the angle is not adjustable, but do like that it is all metal.
I switched from RAM to Quadlock. I am a driver for UberEATS(yes.. on my Vstrom) and am constantly mounting and unmounting the phone. Feels much more secure than RAM and more premium too. I spent much more on it as I bought the wireless charger and shock absorber. Worth every penny imo.
I have the GUB one, and considering the roads here in São Paulo - Brazil, it works perfectly, I do not use the safe net and it works perfectly for my S10+. I have it on my both bikes, Versys 650 and CB500x, so I'm happy with it!
The mag cases from quadlock fix pretty much all issues you brought up in this review, no big bulge, no rocking on flat surfaces, and definitely dont catch on your pockets. Plus the magnetic features for the wireless chargers etc are very very nice.
I used something like the gub but does not rotate and has never dropped my phone after 4k in miles. But that weird angle is annoying. Also as a courier I'm constantly mounting and unmounting my phone often and this type of set up is super easy to get back in or out fast.
Have you seen the RokForm mounts. They are similar to the quad lock. Really solid and the cases have a magnet in them that you can use to stick them onto the fender of your car if you are working on it outside or other metal objects to hold it for you.
I love the TackForm holder for my phone ... all metal, no plastic and a ball joint... and can slip it into the mount with one hand and gloves on with no further adjustment. Rubber band is included if you wanted further security.
I cut cost and bought a cheap holder (the cheap one in the video) while my friend went for a Quad Lock, after destroying my phone when the holder failed, I now have a quad lock (and new phone) and it's well worth the money. Also I like the raised bit at the back (stops the phone touching other surfaces but the down side is, if you still have other holders it does get in the way)
I have the Quad Lock and it's absolutely amazing. Rock solid on my Sport Glide (I got the vibration dampener as well - it works, no problems with my iPhone camera). The materials and construction are top notch quality and their Customer Service is stellar. I've e-mailed them a few times with some questions and each time they're responded within 12 hours (sooner on most). A great reliable product sold through a customer service oriented company. Pretty much unheard of today!
I have a quadlock, and you have so many different options, you can change the blue colour to a black, red or white one, can mount a charger and a vibration dampener on it, and if they don’t have the right phonecase for your phone, you can buy smth like a popsocket to put on ur phone. You can use different arms for the mount, and can buy it for the handlebar, mirror or fork stem. I would highly recommend quadlock, and even go so far to say that it’s possibly the best phone mount available, even tho it is a bit pricy
For the last 4 years I have used the Ram mount!! It works so well I put 1 in my truck, wife's car, daughters car, and work truck!! It is the one that works best for me!!
Had the ram mount for a year or so, attaching the safety bands sucked and the pegs were in the way of the buttons on the side so I moved to the quad lock. The phone case for the quadlock is really stiff and makes the buttons hard to press but it's easy enough to swap out when I'm riding so i can live with that. The rotate to attach and unattach is great. Obviously there's no perfect solution but the quadlock is the best for me, for now.
I have the quad lock. I went full in tho, and bought the key ring for when not in use, as well as the bike AND car mounts with the wireless charger for the car.
I actually use a similar product to the Quad Lock, made by Rokform. It's actually a really well built piece and has three mounting options, as well as built in magnets for the phone and whatnot to give you more places to put it on various objects. There's no bump on the back of the case to secure it; Instead, there's actually a hole itself in the case to attach to the mount. The mount is super sturdy, and it does have quite a few places to put it, even at angles (it does turn and tilt really easily). Plus you can get mounts for Rokform for your car, belt, etc.
I have been using a similar product to the vup for 4 years now, on 2 different style bikes. My naked 300 and now my adv160. I have complete confidence and have never felt like anything was going to happen to my phone. I ride in Indonesia (no highway-riding is allowed). I mount it right in the middle of my handle bars, no vibration (or very little) and secure.
I just weld my phone on the handelbar

The rubber safety net on the ram mount is actually more important than people may think. Especially when going fast. My phone almost flew off one time because I hadn’t bothered to put the rubber net on.
My rubber net perished after a year, took the bike for a spin without the net, 110kph on a freeway and my phone lands in my lap, heart stopping moment as I found a safe spot to pull over. On my next bike I'll be getting the quadlock adapter, also handy as I'll upgrade the card mount to quadlock to bring it all together
After losing a phone on the highway from not using the safety bands on the Ram Mount, I HIGHLY recommend using them, lol.
Same thing happened to me a few months ago. Then after a new phone I have always been using the safety band.
@Sir Tristan tf is wrong w u
I like my ram mount but still looking for a suitable mount for a zx6r. Don't like the stem nut mount.
Or just get a quad lock
I've got the stem-mounted Quad Lock on my bike and I absolutely love it. I also have a car with a Quad Lock mount so it makes it really easy to switch between the two vehicles and still have a phone mount. Quad lock is more expensive yes, but if you're planning on using it regularly, it's the only mount I've found that doesn't wobble or make you feel like it'll fall off in the middle of the ride.
Quadlock for me .. by far the best of all the phone mounts I've tried
I have an SP connect, basically the same but a little nicer and has a cover for the case when not on a mount
To bad they don't make the cases for that much different brands. The universal adaptor looks a bit dodgy in my opinion. Could be wrong since i haven't tried it.

I have a quadlock, and just got the universal phone mount instead of their case. The Quad Lock has a “ball” adapter, so if you use a RAM, you can use the arm along with the Quad Lock. The Quad Lock is by far the most secure option, and it’s 4-wheel mount is great as well.
I think babacom looks the most secure.

Thank you for taking the time
I have a quadlock, and have changed to the peak design. That thing is like black magic. As good as the quadlock is, the PD one is so much better.
I looked into quadlock, they didn't have a case for my phone. My phone is old because I'm cheap, so I got a RAM X Mount because I am cheap :)

I had a GUB but it would rattle loose and my phone fell out a couple of times
"It says it'll take me 9 minutes, doesn't know I'm on a motorbike" lmao
I use the quad lock with the QI charging mount, superb bit of kit.

@Manu Anthony
Same here, I leave the quad lock phone case on the motorcycle as if that is the mount.
I've heard that the quadlock ones are notorious for this problem on iphones as well.
I can second this. The all metal design of the GUB makes it a stiff setup so your phone will feel every bump on the road. I noticed the camera on my iPhone 11 was damaged after just one day of commuting to work.
Ohh so that's why my S20's autofocus isnt working anymore...

Smartphone mounts are known to mess with your phones camera. The vibrations from the engine is what destroys the auto focus and OIS. That's why I'd only mount an old phone to my handlebars.
Mine is still fine 1 year in, also know many people who have had quadlock for years no problems

It needs to be noted the quad lock has stuffed 3 of my iPhone 11 cameras . The vibration through the bars stuffs the image stabilisation motor
I am thinking about getting Quad Lock in the near future, and they have improved on their design. The only problem I’ve had was the rubber safety net thing tore, but I was given a new one without question. The button pressing issue can be annoying until you learn where to place the phone.
Hey creator, the song you're looking for is "motorcycle driver" by Joe Satriani. You're welcome.

Honestly I could never get a phone mount, too much anxiety 😂
Get a quadlock, people have gone down and their phones were still on the bike lol
Sir Tristan ok ouch 😂🤣😂

Same, and I'm British. I guess "pound" only sounds like money with a UK accent.

Few main advantages; I choose my own case, cheap as hell as its a mock off (still solid, believe me I tested it), as a USB power port and also I can hyde the phone in a little clear plastic bag in case of rain and still use it. This is a +1 compare to the quad lock !
those screw holders that thightens from the sides are my favourite. been using all kind of holders and its so secure and easy to use at the same time
I use Quadlock and I'm pretty satisfy. The best of the best. ✌
It's the best of what's left...
Chaos: it say's nine minutes
Also chaos: I don't think it knows I'm on a motocycle
The mag cases from quadlock fix pretty much all issues you brought up in this review, no big bulge, no rocking on flat surfaces, and definitely dont catch on your pockets. Plus the magnetic features for the wireless chargers etc are very very nice.
Fun fact: It can ruin your IPhone camera
I used a Quadlock on my BMW GS. It comes with fittings for different diameter bars. I fitted it onto the mirror stem. Never had any problems.
The best mount is NO mount. Enjoy the ride.
I used something like the gub but does not rotate and has never dropped my phone after 4k in miles. But that weird angle is annoying.
Also as a courier I'm constantly mounting and unmounting my phone often and this type of set up is super easy to get back in or out fast.
I use the claw mount version of the RAM X-Grip, it doesn't have the vibration issue because it doesn't have the extended arm.
Also I like the raised bit at the back (stops the phone touching other surfaces but the down side is, if you still have other holders it does get in the way)
I used some chinese tie downs once, and my bike fell off as they broke going thru an intersection.
I have a quad lock stem mount on my 2005 R1 and I love it. Rock solid, quality build and great customer service.
I’ve been using the Oxford CLIQR for a couple months and like it a lot. Very secure, very tidy, and very simple.
For me, RAM is the best (thanks for safety straps suggestion)
I adapted a footing to mine and use it as desk phone stand as well
Very practical
That quad lock looks really sweet and clean. Ive never seen that mount before. Thanks for putting this review together.
Never do this on a dirt bike trail enduro or track but in a road bike this is a life saver
Thanks for this video👍
I'm using the QuadLock also after seeing a lot of ads popup after searching mounts. Very secure and no vibrations with the added damper.
I've been using Quadlock since 2017. Very happy with the product and I had no problem whatsoever. I recommend!
