Exploring the ruins of Shore Baptist Chapel. Cornholme. Todmorden

The hamlet of Shore consists of a number of houses and more spread out farmhouses, just on the hills above Cornholme in Todmorden.
In 1777, Shore Baptist Church was founded and was in use for the best part of 200 years. In the 1960s the chapel was found to be riddled with dry rot and by the mid 1980s was abandoned.

Hi, I visited the Chapel today looking for a family member. Can I ask when did you film the footage as it looks nothing like your video, I’m not being rude. It is so immensely over grown, and so sad to see its neglect. With so many loved ones buried in such a beautiful place, it was heart wrenching. I’ll try and upload my photos from today, so others can see the sheer neglect. No grave yard should be in such a state. We’re off back up there tomorrow to find him, with gardening equipment to cut all the brambles down. 😢

Hi Vanessa. Only about 3 or 4 weeks ago. It was still quite overgrown, specifically the one at the side of the chapel. Hope you find your relative. Have you checked 'find a grave' as there may be a photo of the grave on their already to help you? Take care.
