Searching for the Ancient Stones of Midgley Moor. Halifax

Wadsworth and Midgley Moors were my childhood playgrounds. I lived on the edge of them and would often head up to explore the quarries on a summer evening.
A wild and desolate place at times, they are also home to a number of ancient rocks and places that date back over centuries that make it into a magical landscape. These include .....
Churn Milk Joan. The final location for an unfortunate milk maid.
Robin Hood's Pennystone. A plague stone
The Millers Grave. Ancient burial site
It is a land of history, legend and folklore and a place I was forever grateful to grow up in.

Hello Matt, I was born in Sowerby Bridge and spent all my childhood there and surrounding areas before being dragged away to live in Wakefield / Leeds which is just not the same ..your vlogs are a real tonic and now I’m recently retired I’m determined to visit quite a few of the places you show so well.😎👍

Hi Matt, had a run up the moor yesterday & milk churn now down to 31p 😮..fantastic place to grow up, I grow up in Portsmouth & spent most of time playing on the hills above Portsmouth & Cornholme😁 we all take this wonderful valley for granted and we are very lucky to live here…keep the videos coming 😀
