This movie is in my family for 30 years (I have VHS tape to this day) and it has special place in my heart. For me it is best Van Damme movie Thank you for this reaction. it means a lot to me 😌
I have to agree. When it comes to pure raw action I would go with his Hong Kong movies like Bloodsport or Double Impact but when it comes to emotion this movie is the best.
YES!!!!! So happy you saw this. Your reaction is exactly like I thought.... Exciting and Emotional!!!! Thank you for reacting to movie. So Few Do!!! Can't wait to see your next Van Damme and Boys reaction. Keep up the Fantastic Work😊😊👍👍♥❤
I like Van Damme's "The Quest" (1996) even though it's one of his lesser known films. It's sort of like "Bloodsport" featuring an international martial arts tournament, but it has more sophisticated fight choreography and cinematography and it's set in the 1920s.
yes the quest is a very good film too, the costumes, the landscapes as well as the period sets (1925) are magnificent, moreover, it is Jean Claude Van Damme himself who directed the film and choreographed the fights, with around fifteen fighters practicing different martial arts to have the most authentic fights possible, we also find his Belgian friends, Abdel Qissi, brother of Mohammed Qissi (tong po kickboxer) who plays the role of the Mongolian fighter, that the we also find in the role of Attila in Lionheart as in addition to the film Order, we also find in the role of the Spanish fighter Peter Malota (Tae Kwon Do/Hapkido) who we could also see in the film double impact , without forgetting the presence of Roger Moore.
Gran reacción, en esta película te muestran el mundo de las peleas underground, que se podría decir son peleas de culto, en lo personal pienso que es una de las mejores películas que tiene Van Damme, saludos ✌️
Yes yes yes! As a kid growing up with disability’s and getting picked on or bullied as they say I started working out because of Van Damme and was a totally different person for the good! Also he has another little known movie called Leggionarre!
My favorite mi favorito Jean Claude Van Damm film it's so wholesome and good. I also like Double Team and Knock Offs Finally someone reacts to this one!
the French men support him because even though they consider him a criminal, he is still a legionnaire. the fact that even though he is badly injured and still refuses to quit gives them pride, in my opinion, not as being French, but rather a legionnaire. they trained him well.
He's actually wearing what sailors wore back then. The bump on his head just appeared and he had it for quite a few years. I think maybe it was a calcium deposit. I remember him speaking about it once. This is one of the very few martial arts films that will make you tear up. Great story and action and even acting, but it just doesn't have the budget it deserves. It was really his first serious acting role.
Other participating actors I'm surprised no one brings up: Lisa Pelikan (who portrayed Helene, wife of the late Francois / Lyon's sister-in-law / Nicole's mom) appeared in the Carrie knock-off, Jennifer; Violet in Swing Shift / Rebecca in Ghoulies! Tony Valentino (who portrayed the doctor at 26:58) appeared in Angel Town with Olivier Gruner - another work of Imperial Entertainment - not long before! Brian Thompson (who portrayed Russell) appeared as one of the street punks in Terminator / Night Slasher in Cobra / Shao Kahn in MK Annihilation (God forbid...) / Buffalo Bob in Joe Dirt! And despite being barely seen at the end, Jeff Speakman was one of the Mansion Security guards - not long before The Perfect Weapon.
Exacto ! Yo estaba tratando de recordar que actor era el que salia en esta pelicula al ultimo de los guardias de seguridad hasta que me lo recordaste jeff speakman👍
JCVD's next film after Kickboxer, first major smash with an American studio (also co-writer) and 1 of 2 films in the same year. Me and my father saw this on opening day. We loved more than the flghts. The story was compelling and grounded. The film's trailer was presented like he wanted to seek revenge for his brother while competing in underground fighting. But even so, the movie turned out to be just as good in any event. Ashley Johnson (Nicole) makes her film debut after doing the ABC sitcom, Growing Pains. Michel Qissi (Tong Po in Kickboxer) is one of the foreign legion guys, Moustafa while his brother Abdel plays Lyon's final opponent, Attila. Also one of the legionnaires fighting Lyon in the beginning was Billy Blanks (early film career/pre-Tae Bo). The drama in Lionheart does tug the heart strings as is Lyon just wanted to fight for his family. JCVD has done his share of films that actually have decent drama and not just action. Other similar films are Nowhere to Run (1993), The Quest (1996) and Legionnaire (1998). Btw, you ask why Van Damme does no splits in Lionheart? He decided that the story was too serious for him to do them, even if it was his signature.

What’s really sad is Joshua went through the same feeling of being a fighter like Leon only to get screwed over when the next best thing came along and he was discarded and left on the streets. He was speaking from experience which made their whole relationship more genuine. Didn’t wanna see it happen to someone else

Hola Vanessa 🎬 🍿🤩 Bang Smash !!! 💥 No mercy , Van Damme is Back!! 👊 This gives you all the kick ass action you've come to expect but focus more on the plot then before which I like. Van Damme also wrote this & wanted it to be more like a old fashioned shaggy boxing melodrama going up against the blood thirsty elites. The opening scenes with his brother was harrowing. One of the French Legion guys "Mustafa" ( Mohamed Quissi in real life) chasing Van Damme is Tong Po from Kickboxer and the Capoeira guy from Bloodsport. And the driver in the Jeep in the beginning, where they bring Van Damme the letter is/was Stefanos Miltsakakis! A great guy who played in many Van Damme movies and also was a friend of his.
