Really enjoying this content! The crawling videos are awesome but there's a lot more to our hobby then just driving our trucks. I think it's great that we get to see the hurdles you encounter and how you tackle them - no better way to learn! Keep up the great work! 👍
Dude. Your crawling videos and commentary are my favorite, but this? How am I enjoying this series so much? I didn’t know I’d enjoy it, but gave it a chance. I’m really loving seeing the process and hearing the challenges you’ve worked through and how you did all of it. This is all new to me and I’m really enjoying it. Thanks for taking us along for the ride - this truck is turning out awesome! I’m staying tuned. 👍✌️
Nice job Logan!! Pull saws are the way to go and they don’t cut quick like a hacksaw does but they are not supposed to. Like others stated tape a sheet of sandpaper down and much easier to flatten out your cuts. I’d also look into Plastruct plastic weld or some MEK/MEK substitute for glueing the body back together and one last thing get some sheets of styrene and cut strips to back your cuts for strength. Keep cutting and making it your own
My best moment in rcing, choping plastic stuff, sanding the hell out of it,then paint it my own . My only suggestion would be to start of horizontaly, for a few "scratching" rounds, then you have a perfect line to follow cutting. I would avoid dremel sanding(melting the plastic),as my ocds kick in,i hand sand everything,to be exact on both sides Overall you did a great job!
That looks great, Logan! Kinda good timing too... I want to bob the bed of my Base Camp to fix the departure angle... though I have to figure out how to do all that with Lexan. The cutting part I think will be a lot easier, but the reattachment part could be interesting. Oh and I love the Sage Green color.
With lexan its a bit tricky and the harder part is getting a nice clean result in the end. I cut about a half inch of lexan out of the bed of a Proline power wagon body and then simply slid the end piece right over the existing bed ,I added a tad glue and a couple tiny little screws to hold it in place and it came out awesome....I taped the bed just like wheeler did but on lexan you need to use a very sharp razor knife and keep scoring until it breaks off ...👍🏼💯
40% through my chevy pickup 3d print rn and seen this and always enjoy your content! great inspiration i was getting discouraged how rough it is atm but "i did it" haha
Sorry, I was commenting as I watched lol. Turned out great! I've been researching for a while now. Have a hard body XJ I want to use on either the vs410 or trx4, fits both perfectly, and would look like my 1to1
Its funny that you bobbed your bed and I extended the one I did by an inch. Also ampro designed some awesome tail lights for this model year Toyota. They look 100x better than the stock RC4WD lights that come with the kit.
that's not bad i'd do a little different but you have the basic concept an yes take your time you should never be in a hurry super glue an baking soda mixed together makes a very good bond an can be used as a boy filler it dries rock hard but sands up nicely if you need any tips feel free to reach out i have been building model cars for 40 years an im new to rc a i love the hard bodies
I’ve tried that and a few others on a cross rc bed kit for a 6x6 project ,not one of them works to hold their stuff together .it holds until you knock the body on anything while running ,and not hard either .the bodies and beds seem so hard that they don’t melt together like other ABS kits .that stopped me from buying one of their trucks.I seem to have to fix it on every run .shame ,they have got some great detail and scale is spot on .
Try a hacksaw blade for plastic, cut it to the length you need and I just wrap some electrical tape around the hacksaw blade for a handle and you can do it pull of push . Gorilla glue gel is amazing for the hard plastics ,abs, styrene. Fills huge gaps👍
Can I suggest using a 12x12 marble tile and a sheet of fine sand paper tapped flat to the tile. To sand both bed pieces level. It should give you a very even and consistent seem when you glue the two parts back together.
Using a hand tool lets you take your time and stop before mistakes get out of hand. I'd probably have used a band saw to get it f'd up proper in short time.
A hobby saw would have been better and cheaper to purchase. They are not as long and are sturdier, less flex for a straighter cut. I use 10" by 1 1/2 " aluminum flat stock, from eBay to sand long straight cuts like you did. Just lay down the aluminum and sand the piece you just cut to straighten the cut.
How did he cut the bed holes? Well judging by how they look. I would say a chainsaw made out of spoons, underwater, on a monday, next to a crying baby, stoned, really stoned.
I mess up everything the first time or two. Have never been into let’s be real for a second. Crafting. I’m no painter and no real imagination when it comes to making scale looking trucks. I still try though there’s something relaxing about it to me. Maybe the fumes… lol. All about learning and I’m better the next time every time

Tamiya pink super fine primer before paint as it resembles bondo when it gets scratches 👍

It's looking awesome! I'm digging the sage green and with a red and black undercoat as you trail it the patina will form itself over time.
Good progress Logan. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate how candid and honest you are about the learning process.
Man, this rig is going to be nasty on the rocks!!! I love the way this thing is turning out!!! Keep up this awesome content.
Great job Logan really enjoying this build.

You did a good job on the truck brother and you do a good job on the videos keep up the good work thank you

You gave me the boost to try this out on my truck now thanks brother for the content!
Great job on those body mods, harder than it looks👍
Richard from Turks and Jerps is a good resource for questions about cutting hard bodies. That dude does some amazing builds.
West desert wheeler a dremils your friend in this Hobby, looking good Bro
Awesome video I'm working on the same build myself. Xtracab on a vs4-10. You always have great content. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Nice work, looks great here and in the finished version!
Nice video. I'm really enjoying learning along with you.

Matt from SBG has his Yota called Jelly Bean and with that green you’re using “Butter Bean” sounds good. Lol
Did a great job, I bobbed my rc4wd mojave 4d toyota, my class 1
dig your thoughts on the learning process
I did the same thing 2 years ago to fit on the SSD trailking chassis. makes for a great and capable truck.
Very cool combo
I know sbg does a great video on all of that stuff like weathering and so does rc sparks. And another note it's looking great 👍

looks great.. I am using a dremel and it is melting, making marks... hoping filler does its job lol. looks good!!!

Good info. Thanks Logan
looks better than the first time i got rid of bob
Thanks man!
Oh yeah buddy!! More WDW content for a sick High Noon! 😂🤘🏼🤘🏼
Glad I could assist!
Awesome content! Thank you for sharing and inspiring others to try!
Plastruct is one of the best glues for plastic that will be abused. It melts the plastic pieces together. Good start bud 👍
Great advice thanks

The incision hubs are the same as the ones that come standard in vanquish kits!
Naice truck! Cool Mods/Build!
Nice built
Good job.
i did one yota tf2 lwb and yea they dont have to be perfect...atleast you trying it....
Check out Raz's double sided tape method to find the perfect place to cut holes. Pretty good idea.
Great job
Take a flat file to the cut out. You can get them squar
The Vanquish Falken 1.9 is smaller than most
And do you know if plastic cement is better then starbond CA glue?
Hey Logan, great video man. Where did you get those C-clamps you used to hold the bed together? Thanks.
Ive seen those @ home depot
@@rileysvideos2059 thanks!
Awesome
What width did you cut out? I’m looking at doing this to mine but unsure on how much to cut out..
Using a hand tool lets you take your time and stop before mistakes get out of hand. I'd probably have used a band saw to get it f'd up proper in short time.
KOH ready
Next time. Go on craigslist n find a used bandsaw for 30$
incision and true vanquish wheels are different hubs
are those 4.75" tires?

don't use filler, watch Matt (SBG) tutorial how to make a MEK slurry and use that as binder and as filler
That’s not Scotch Tape brah 🤨

Another comment from you little missy and you’ll be bye bye.
@@westdesertwheeler Come on now. That one was funny.

Use a flat file to finish out the shock tower holes
Great idea
Try a fine-cut metal blade.
Also get a razor saw. That's what most people use for this. Check out turksnjurps for that
