It’s funny how this game turns one into a supremacist. Slowly, you start to look down on all the genetically inferior goblins from your evolved heights. No flabbiness, only physique bred to perfection. Brain engineered into a super-computer. Soon, no human will stand in goblinkind’s way!
There's an another name for it, it's called eugenics.
It's a scientific erroneous and immoral theory of "racial improvement" and "planned breeding".
For a video game it holds water, IRL it doesn't.
"Pure" breeding will increase the risks of genetic faults and illnesses, we should learn from what happened with our obsession to get the purebred dogs.
Many breeds has several genetic faults that gets worse as the generations progress.
Some breeds are so far from their 1900s namesake that most of us cannot identify what breeds of dogs are in paintings.
Several breeds are so far gone they shouldn't be continued, no matter how popular they are.
So this should just stay as a video game concept.
I did notice that due to this, all the goblins look v similar now
I see my previous comment about the debunked genetics theory got removed, even though I was in my opinion clearly against it.

There are a lot of things that could be better about the game, but you make the series enjoyable. It's always funny when you find a silly name or face for a Goblin and you want to keep them just because of that lol

I first read defensive, I thought it is bloody broken, I will always use this...
Then I have it, and the armor disappeared after the first turn, and I feel like I was sold a lie.
Also, the battlecry is based on weapon power, while the gem increase your power directly. In other words, you can only increase battlecry power by upgrading the skill or upgrading the weapon.
The Redraw per battle, too.
I dont know if these are working as intended but have bad descriptions, or the descriptions are correct, but the skills are bugged.
Markhitter is _such_ a fitting name for a top-class hunter, hehe. I'm here to ride out this series for as long as it lasts, algorithm be damned!
Defensive is based on first action rather than first sustained hit. Retaliate and any other move turns your 17 armor into 12 right after applying it. Technically good when you're Ambushed but even then your taunt could be one of the Surprised goblins that get moved back in queue so not always good in those situations. Such as on this episode with how your Taunt was surprised 4 out of the 4 times you were ambushed.
Bandit feels incredibly powerful with that pull ability
I rarely comment on videos but I love this series and watch each episode while I work. Please keep the series going.

So I take it you haven't yet seen how mutated gobbos can get through inbreeding? I'm in chapter 5, and some of mine are born with "wandering eye" syndrome. One where it should be, the other eye at cheek level.

When you set up Retaliate as your first move of the fight ~10:35 your armor went from 17 to 12. I don’t think that even Retaliate can make Defensive good in its current state

I think the wording on the bandit is weapon power… which is lammmmme! So scaling any base power on bandit seems like it has no effect other than damage from your main attack sadly.
Yes only base power from weapon is counting. Even power from orbs not

I've been loving the series and the journey. I think you've been doing a great job with how the game is paced and I would be sad to see the series go (I gotta let you know). Good luck, and i hope you fight on. Maybe one day we'll see a second dip into the cursed shrine be less than 15%🤞

I think the best defence of the defensive perk is that you're ambushed you can tank the early hits before you get a turn
But honestly the ambushes just suck and should go...
Also, keep the goblins coming!
Further on in the game, you start to encounter more and more enemies that attack before your first turn in non-ambush battles. I give my Guards Defensive.
Even then RNG can mess that up like on this episode. 4 out of the 4 times he got ambushed, his taunt was Surprised and moved further back in queue allowing others to take the first hit before he got a chance to do an action.
Man there are so many long episodes coming out at the moment. I really enjoy them but it is hard to catch up. 😅
But I really try, as I enjoy the game, the setting and your style throughout the series. :)
Unfortunately what you say about back seating is exactly what I feared would happen, back when you called people out who were complaining about your action economy and play style... It wouldn't be the first series I witnessed to go down because of back seat gaming :(

Pretty sure the bandit ability looks at base power of the weapon without any enchantments or modifiers to your power.

Still loving the series. Though I do wonder: who is Mark and what did he do to the goblins that a lot of them seem to want to hit, maim, mangle or otherwise hurt him?

You know, i wish they would only say "exp" instead of the full experience points. That way they could make the big reveal of exp standing for "execution points", toby fox style. It would fit the games theme, thats for sure

PLaying the game for myself. It rly is a grind, if you wanna get everything to lvl 3 and trying to get the ultimate gobbos. But the gmae is a lot of fun and i rly like the series. So plz, keep it going

When you only have three single 8s then you're limited by ancestry which makes it hard to get perfect goblins. A fourth 8 means that you can breed the two with the same stat with the two with the other two stats, and then breed the two offspring together, increasing the chances of a perfect goblin, but if you start with the wrong pair of stats then you've ancestry blocked yourself. More 8s makes things easier but still watch the ancestry.

I generally dont comment things that people missed but I think it's been a week of holding onto the artifacts with idle hope that you're going to find the different races' merchants. Based on tooltips and item descriptions, I'm pretty dang sure that the different artifacts are just world flavor. You sell it to the normal orc merchant for 1,000, and he sells it to the people who want it in his offscreen travels. I could be wrong, and you're not hurting for cash or larder space so it isnt a big deal, but I think that's what's happening
I have been told that is not the case.
Interesting, another content creator sold their non goblin or orc artifact and got the 1k coins, so now I'm interested in hints what the supposed payout to hanging on to them are.
There was a gnoll merchant in this very episode.

I think that Ferocious is bugged / doesn't work as described in the tooltip. I have to turn it off and back on between each fight to have the correct amout of power, and even then sometimes it just stops working during a battle. Love your content

It's probably okay to take a hiatus from this game and watch the patches/updates. If they fix the issues then you can return to the Goblin colony to rid the wilds of those degenerate adventurers

Did anyone get a gobi that retained dual job bonuses?
I have a gobi that was a raider then I switched to Hunter and he still has raider bonus for the crit and hunter bonus for power using Mind Stat. I have a hunter with 40 base crit at the moment pretty much.
Considering the amount of visual glitches the game has does it actually feel like those stats are in effect while you play & not just visually wrong?
Would making a second guild give a class more bonuses?

I don't fully understand how new traits can be created through breading new goblins. Once you have your 8,8,8's could you experiment with breeding for new traits?
I don't have statistics on it, but it seems a lot easier to hang on to a trait than it is to get one randomly assigned.
That's why 4 traits goblins are much more valuable than the ones without traits.
So you spend a lot longer fishing for traits not in either goblin you breed than keeping the desired ones in one of the goblins, but you get the best results breeding 2 goblins with the stats and traits you're after.
Retromation are trying to include all traits into his gene pool, so any traits that might be uninteresting for the current builds/classes, they could become important later on in the game.
There's still chances for getting traits that isn't in either parent, but logically it should decrease the more similar the parents are and vice-versa.
So if you're looking into getting some traits that none of the goblins have, using high stat parents with only unique traits in-between them should give the best chances of getting a beneficial trait.
That's why Retromation are so excited about getting both higher stats and new traits simultaneously, so the blind breeding for those missing traits are more cumbersome than keeping them in the pool.

am I crazy? was retaliate insta removing 5 armor on the tank? is defensive a turn 1 only buff? was that always the case?
Defensive was always a turn 1 buff, retaliate didn't remove the 5 armor, it was the trait.
But as Retromation said, defensive boosts the retaliation damage by 10 as it deals 2x armor at casting as damage.
It's so easy to see correlations that aren't there, they just happen to trigger at the right time.
Not crazy, that's what he mentioned the comments were talking about. After the tank takes his first action (not first hit) he'll lose the 5 armor. So only useful if you know the enemies will get consistent hits ahead of you at the start of battle.
@mica4977 thank you i missed that explanation...thats not how the perk is written, also is that how it was before the patch and i just missed it? If thats no mistake then id take rattle skill probably.

Defensive is bad with retaliate, It's not help you i belive.
I mean for example in 5:30 you can see prove, at start you have 17 Shield and make the counter attack be 34 but after you use Retaliate your automatic go to back and your shield decrease to 12 and make the counter demage to 24. So even if you are attacked by enemy after use Retaliate the enemy only get 24 demage not 34.
So defensive is useless except you get Attack before you play, and i it's not be combine with anything by Guard. Everytime you play Guardian your Defensive perk is out.
So Defensive only works if you put Guard as the first attacked by enemy, not make them in the front of row but put them in the second or third.
defensive would be a little better if the extra armor stayed until the guards second turn so that way it can actually be utilized a little
@@chadgilbreath4638 If player use Guard as protection unit that will be good to have Defensive, But if Player play Retaliate at least this perk must stay for Guard third turn. So Guard can use retaliate and Guard or Intercept as combo.
For me Defensive will be useful if this perk lasts until the Perk owner is attacked for the first time.
although I realize why this perk looks so trivial, because this perk is an early perk. I think if players can find the right Gene 🧬, then there will definitely be one that has a similar effect but is more functional.
the armoured trio to me was the most disapointing fight so far i just deleted them :p it does however have one of the collest concepts and timing in the story

The reality is, outside of the little quests gold becomes so abundant that it is non issue throughout the game and your completely right not to waste time on them.

If the metrics aren't there, you're getting fed up with it and the backseating is tearing away at your enjoyment, then it becomes a chore rather than a game so I can understand putting it on hiatus.
Thank you for showing us the cards and laying out the facts, I was hoping this wouldn't burn you out, but if it's a drain rather than a boon then you do what you have to do.
I'd be sad to see it go, sucky comments can be dealt with but declining numbers past your required limits are a much more serious issue.
Perhaps Backpack Hero or Backpack Battles have better metrics, but I'm sure you have a list of other games you want to cover.

i will watch every single Goblin Stone video. to be fair the game is very repetetive and like 90% of the video is stuff we have already seen in previous runs. every new thing makes me exited to watch the next episode
I wouldn’t mind swapping out this series for a new slice and dice series
