Oh my god, yes. You took the words from my mouth. I was trying to figure out what it meant and that was it. The original being promise (reprise), and this was temporarily forgotten. This version has to be in the Return to Silent Hill movie, too.
Promise of the forgotten is a slick name. The play on the song itself being new and feeling different from the original song almost like it was played wrong because it was legit forgotten and thus weaved a new sound to go along with it. Love the idea of it all!

Heard this track for the first time around 2008, a San Andreas myth video, had it on my playlist since, to hear it again remade like this is a portal back to those years
Might just be the bitrate of the old soundtrack drowning it out but, I like how the xylophone is more prominent in this one. Gives the song an even more dreamy quality.

I guess it's a marketing strategy by Konami so that people experience the game first, and then they'll release the soundtrack at the same time as the game and on platforms like Spotify or something similar. Even if they didn't announce it, Konami's marketing blunder once again, screwing up Bloober Team's work.

A remake would be nice but they’d probably have to do the first game before that since it’s essentially a sequel to the first.
