Awesome video with great detail. I'm going to use this as a reference if I need to do this procedure on my smart.

i boughr two 451 last month one was sort of working in limp home mode it did about 100km/h cleared the engine light fine but still spils alot of oil the other got some sort of dead engine block problem. Never had a for2 before and you seem to solve o good amount of engine and scar challenges i will keep an eye open for what more you can find and fix.

I dont know how to measure that. Probable some metric size. Amazon, Ebay, Auto wrecker, Mercedes dealer. New one might come with a turbo cartridge kit.

Been watching all your smart car vids lately and I have a no crank issue on my 2006 cdi in Canada. Is there a way you have found to bypass ignition and start it to see if it will at least run

Might be a no crank for a reason. Maybe car thinks car is in gear or key not programmed.
Could alway just run a jumper wire to the starter if could reach in there. May or may not start. Not sure if just power to the starter is dis-able when car wont crank or if power to fuel pump & computer controlled injector timing as well.
If issue is no programmed keys then maybe will run if engage the starter & crank it. I have never tried. Make sure its not in gear before jumping the starter.

@@manbuilds1587 thanks, I know the key is programmed as it does not display the service key icon as if it were not programmed, and I can hear the actuator when I shift gears with ignition on so I would hope that it doesn’t think it’s stuck it gear. I’m going to try going through the SAM unit and seeing if I have an issue from ignition to Sam them Sam to starter

Mine wont stop leaking oil from the compressor. I rebuilt it and it still leaked. I bought a new core and it still leaks.

Alot? Maybe they always leak. Every smart turbo I took the hose off had some oil in it. Maybe doesnt leak when turbo is running. Pressure on exhaust & turbo sides. But probable creates the blow by in the car if leak on compressor side. Depends on which way the edge of the seal is oriented. If angled out to the compressor side then it used the compressor pressure to seal. Maybe, just a thought. Only smart turbos seem to have oil in them at rest. Every smart I had did that but oil level stayed same so it cant be alot thats leaking, maybe just at rest it leaks what was left in the line. Just a thought. Not sure. You would think it would not leak but they do & keep working like that. 50k on turbo that was leaking like that, always oil there & still worked well until accident & car was write off.
Oil pressure is not alot there, 30psi? The turbo pressure in the housing is probable higher than that so not sure how the seals work there to keep the boost pressure out the crank case.
