I think the cycle of adult dragons are pretty sweet and I think people are overlooking the background mechanic as well. If it was not from everybody expecting big reprints I think the set would have been more well received. It is not really a commander legends 2 more of an AFR 2 imo

The set fun and seems powerful to me with a handful of new strats and a lot of support for existing 99s. People are so obsessed over dockside, tithe and fierce guardianship reprints they turned off the card analysis part of their brains. There’s been a lot of comparison to CML and that set having more “value” but as someone who just cracked a few CML boxes you better hit one of the big 3 mythics or you can get taken to pound town. I think people remember the prices pre hullbreacher ban or something because then hullbreacher and oppo agent could carry your box if your mythics were subpar. Not any more.
Nice list! A tip do find the cards by collection number on scryfall is using the filter. That's the syntax according to the site: Use s:, e:, set:, or edition: to find cards using their Magic set code. Use cn: or number: to find cards by collector number within a set. Combine this with s: to find specific card editions. Searching by ranges with a syntax like cn>50 is also possible
I have to disagree regarding using Legion Loyalty to use for combat. First, it stacks with multiple instances of Myriad. Second, we have at least one worth while creature with Myriad, Hammers of Moradin. Throw together Anointed Procession and or Parallel Lives along with Rhys the Redeemer and you have tons of combat fun
There are tons of great cards in this set. I'm really happy with the set. My problems lies with WOTC in the fact they messed with the sealed structure for the set boxes. 18 packs . . ?? Im not buying it at that price, with that amount. Sorry I'm just not. I'll stick to singles.
Archivist will likely be expansive by default cause its white card draw, but I do believe it will under perform just like monologue tax did. Might be an amazing turn 1-2 play, but I cant see it do that much turn 5-6+ in casual playgroup. We will see soon enough I guess
Eh… I think if it draws you two cards in mono white it is gold. Any card advantage is choice. Of choice phyrexian arena is the same … casting it on turn 6 is a waste most of the time.
@@thetogtube2 not sure its a good comparable. Many people no loger run phyrexian arena cause its too slow. Yet its not conditional card draw, so it should be much better than the archivist. The only thing going for the archivist is the fact that its white, but personally, i am not a fan of relying on my opponent to draw cards
@@clanechelon i think it is a perfect comparison. 1 cmc less... card draw on a creature that is easy to tutor and recur... while the floor is low the ceiling is much higher... auto include in all 3 mono white decks i have...
This is a super casual set… my problem is the price. If it’s so casual the price should not be the same as the original commander legends. Let’s just be real. This set is decent but it’s not competitive so that makes people angry. It’s like if double masters ended sucking and being like Iconic masters 2.0 lol.
I don't really think that the community realizes just how powerful "background" will be at this point. I just hope it doesn't get nerfed like "companion".

Cards are pretty bad for CEDH yea I know what you said about the last card Void but here's the thing in CEDH when we usually want to play cards that interact with search its usually opposition agent and aven mindcensor and I can tell you why that is we don't want our opponents to search for the cards that's why we run cards like that your reason for the last card kinda makes no sense because yea sure cedh decks could run it but why we would rather stop our opponents from searching rather then letting them search but to draw a card from it
The sultai commander that cares about gates is garbage! Why waste the sultai slot with this I am so disappointed in that card that it makes me want to skip the entire set. Gate strategies are boring
Not that impressed by the set. There are a few good cards but reprintwise is not that strong. Sure you have the battlebonds and reflecting as decent lands, but besides that it could be better. Why not reprint some cards like parallel lives or some expensive obscure cards like personal tutor. Glad that singles are not that expensive besides the good cards so I can get a few that speak to me for cheap.
The batllebond lands make this set reprints already pretty decent, anything else is gravy. DM2 will be this year reprints set and where to expect chase cards like parellels lives.

Legion Loyalty is definitely going in my Kenrith Death Dragons deck with all 10 of the Kamigawa Dragon Spirits.
