After seeing ancient brass dragon, I now have the irresistible urge to encore it with araumi, get an insane amount of stuff from graveyards onto the field, and win the game next turn!
Love the video! Sorry to be nitpicking but 9:00 I would have to say the statement "expect about 10" is misleading. Even though the average of multiple D20 rolls is 10.5, each single roll still has a range/variance of 1-20, so your rolls are NOT more likely to be 10 or 11, they will simply average to that amount over time. For example, you roll a 1 the first time, and a 20 the second time, sure your average is 10.5 but both of your rolls were far from that number. Do not expect that you are going to roll 10 and 11 more often than other numbers.
@@starmanda88 several people are wrong. Are you saying 10 and 11 are more likely to come up than other numbers? You may have noticed that comment on MTG goldfish also got several likes. I'm only pointing out statistics.
@@starmanda88 I am talking about probability, and the reason I'm doing this is because averages don't make any difference when it comes to individual rolls. When Beezy says "expect about 10," he is implying that it does. If he said "expect for your rolls over time to average to 10" okay sure. But the way he is saying it makes it sound like the probability of an individual roll will most likely be 10 or 11 and that's not true.
Note on Delayed Blast Fireball. The way it's templated you do not need to foretell it for the 5 damage. It cares if it's cast from exile. So if you say impulse draw it for the 3 mana, you can get the 5 damage mode! Card is nuts.

Surprised you don't have the white dragon on here. The fact that all the tokens you create are DRAGONS is what really pushes this one over the edge. Not only do you have the quick and easy "if you have Dragon Tempest or Scourge of Valkas out, you only need to roll a 10 to instantly win, and that's assuming you have no other dragons" combo that everybody's talking about, but there's a plethora of other cards that care about dragons ETBing or the number of dragons you control. The 7/10 stat line also makes it a lot more likely that it will survive its attempt to swing in, if the defender has some flash creature or combat trick.
i think the red dragon is gonna be a staple in any deck that can reliably give haste. i agree that the black one isn't super strong, but the white one needing both a dragon payoff and a haste enabler makes it narrow enough that i'm not surprised it wasn't included.

i think that deep gnome terramancer is so powerful could maybe even see cedh play. there are slower white midrange decks and this card for 2 mana gets you easily 2 lands out thanks to cedh waning extremely consistent mana bases but also a lot of colors leading to as many fetches as you can play. this could of cause just be bias as it feels like you'Re always fetching out lands but in reality you simply don't pay attention to all the times someone simply puts out a non fetch.
Yep. Ancient Copper Dragon is so slow it ended the game on turn 4 in my Magda deck just last night. I would expect a signpost ban regarding treasures in the near future (my bet would be Dockside) as Sheldon Menery can't seem to shut up about their growing ubiquity lately.
I mean...in a Magda deck you could replace Ancient Copper Dragon with probably dozens of cards for the same result you mentioned..they are clearly talking about a typical casual game: Some land drops and hopefully a mana rock early, so for an average deck let us say this comes out on turn 5, so turn 6 you get to attack & make treasures. But yeah I wonder what WOTC will do regarding treasures :/ if they do decide to print mass producers as this, Old Nawbone & Dockside in the future, the treasures should at least come into play tapped like on Blood Money
Delayed blast fireball for my obosh deck as a finisher. Edit: displacer kitten is the best card I already opened from the prerelease kit. Never selling or trading this cute guy
goad every creature (even yours, because it says every creature), so you do not want spectacular showdown in decks that don't want their creatures to attack. I would put this in my gruul Raggadragga deck, because every creature in the deck has a mana ability so it will be huge anyway, blood money + amulet of vigor and we are off to the races. delayed blast fireball actually commands a high release price of over 7 € here in Europe, the copper dragon is insane, 25-30 €. number 2 on this list also costs a fortune
Been thinking about making a rakdos treasure+goad/fair magic deck, something lower power to combat ramp/draw/stompy. Not sure how it will play but both seem like pushed mechanics
It’s not gonna go well, ramp draw stompy is the best build style as long as it’s got combo and synergy included. The 5 pieces of magic exodus, ramp, draw, stomp, combo, synergy
@@mtgtinfoilthaumaturge1102 my thoughts were goad counters the stompy and there are punishers for draw and ramp in red and black. I'm more worried about how painful it will be to play against to be honest.

surprised ancient gold dragon isnt on the list. it with a dragon tempest is going to deal a ton of damage. like an average of 10.5 dragons off the d20 round down to 10, which puts 10 dragon tempest triggers on the stack for 11 is just soooooooo much damage. great list tho.
Thats specifically for dragon decks and maybe white decks with cathars crusade but outside of those few decks it doesn't do a whole lot. Whereas reanimating and making treasures can go in every deck
Black market connections is the best card in this set. Wilhelt, gisa, lathrill, prosper, slivers, n'ghathrod, and any deck running phyrexian arena are slamming this
Sure it's better than Phyrexian Arena but it's by far not a top 10 card let alone the best in the set. To be honest that awful take made me giggle. Also, I have no idea why you would prioritize it in decks with built in card advantage in the Zone. I'd much rather play any zombie in Wilhelt or any Exile synergy card in Prosper since they both draw plenty of cards as is.
Because it gives you all three things your deck wants in one package giving you great redundancy for your strategy. but sure, do it your way, get board wiped and scoop
@@NitpickingNerds yeah, I don't think you take the 6 to the dome very often, but the option is there. I think mostly you're taking 3 per turn, for about 4-5 turns. Seems fine to me.
"Best card in the set" two replies later "seems fine" lmao Additionally, and this is legitimate deckbuilding advice, playing cards that specifically don't have synergy with what you're trying to do just to not get hosed by boardwipes is not a great idea. There are definitely ways in any deck you're playing (especially black lmao) to bounce back or stop boardwipes that can still be on theme
I totally wanna get Delayed Blast Fireball but I play with the same playgroup usually, so I feel l'd have to run more foretell cards so they don't know which one I have face-down lol
Do you guys plan to do your standard rare+mythic grading video for this set, or just this top 10? You do you, I don’t make your TH-cam videos, but just wondering
I like the dragons but how does Jaheira not make the list? Or gale who goes in any spell heavy deck? A lot of the background commanders seem made for the 99 of existing archetypes so ppl would have something good to do with them after they draft.
I don’t think they added any cards that make it feel like all my decks in those colors NEED it. But a lot of my decks picked up 2-5 cards which add more variety than the exact same card all the time
Wait, I thought that flickering a permanent in response to it being targeted, if it doesn't reenter the battlefield at a later phase, it will still die to targeted removal because it comes back into play before the removal resolves. Is that incorrect?
@@NitpickingNerds strange take, it's three mediocre effects stapled together. You guys seem to love those kinds of cards. It looks to me like a 3 mana talisman that has big upside.
@@Blacklodge_Willy it's 6 mana and it's all single color. Only need red. Unlike derevi who needs creatures already and 3 color pips to cast. Copper dragon just needs it and only has red in it. It's a good combo card. Especially I you can give it haste
We are in no way being contrarian. In fact our top 3 is pretty much all cards everyone knows are good. The 6 drop spot is extremely clogged in commander. Plus we put it at number 6 from the whole set.
The haste is noteworthy, but creating 10 treasures on average rather than a one treasure with "two mana of any color" is also hard to argue against. 6/5 vs 4/4 as well for just one more mana is also noteable. I would just say have them both and let them synergize.
@@jackalvonstone250 I agree, goldspan doubling the mana you get from treasure is also really good, but unless your deck has other treasure synergy you’re going to get a lot more treasure from the copper one, I guess we’ll have to wait and see how much play they get
@@NitpickingNerds 1 less mana plus haste means you get use out of it basically 2 turns earlier which makes sense of why it’s better given how fast edh is getting
I think deep gnome is stronger but more situational than archivist thats less powerful but more likely to trigger. I think 1 land ramp is better than 1 card in the beginning of the game. Most likely you wont get more than one search a turn anyways from an opponent in a single turn. But You guys are like the few content creatures that realize how powerful Displacer kitten is.
I think in some decks you will wish it was banned. Like in tivit, kess, yarok, gyruda, yorion, and other spell slinger decks and it can protect itself! 😭.

i think that deep gnome terramancer is so powerful could maybe even see cedh play. there are slower white midrange decks and this card for 2 mana gets you easily 2 lands out thanks to cedh waning extremely consistent mana bases but also a lot of colors leading to as many fetches as you can play. this could of cause just be bias as it feels like you'Re always fetching out lands but in reality you simply don't pay attention to all the times someone simply puts out a non fetch.
I feel like people fetch like 10 times a game lol
The gnome terromancer is a card that gets better the higher power the table is. In low-mid power games, it'll often be kind of a dead card imo
I pulled a displacer kitty in prerelease and I pulled neera as commander and so I had this pseudo storm deck that was fun as hell
Seems a little strong!
Yep. Ancient Copper Dragon is so slow it ended the game on turn 4 in my Magda deck just last night. I would expect a signpost ban regarding treasures in the near future (my bet would be Dockside) as Sheldon Menery can't seem to shut up about their growing ubiquity lately.
Dragons are slow. If you can give them haste, nobody has fliers and/or removal then it goes BRRRR... it is a good FAIR beater.
It is a slow card for sure it is a 6 drop that doesn't have haste.
@@NitpickingNerds yeah there just much better staples you can get for that price $
Delayed blast fireball for my obosh deck as a finisher.
Edit: displacer kitten is the best card I already opened from the prerelease kit. Never selling or trading this cute guy
It is cute and stronk!
Cherries looks good, looks like he's losing weight. Way to go! Love the content
Well Displacer Kitten was 4.50 and now it's currently 20+. I hope it goes down as more packs are opened....
16:46 moxfield ad???
Edit: darn
Not even close :P
goad every creature (even yours, because it says every creature), so you do not want spectacular showdown in decks that don't want their creatures to attack.
Joe , your hair looks really cool!
Thank you so much!
I’ve never been so disappointed in a set booster box.
I am sorry to hear that
Been thinking about making a rakdos treasure+goad/fair magic deck, something lower power to combat ramp/draw/stompy.
That is a lot of things but I like it!
Mox Field Guess:
Video is 23:29 Ill guess in the middle after what I would hope is #5 so the 11:64 mark!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edit: I was wrong also put 11:64 and didnt think about mins so it would have been 12:04 but still was wrong 🤣😂 I’m an idiot
close but no cigar!
4:50 I prefer reckless endeavor!
7:53 Nethroi apex of death!
Love the hair!
Yea draft is killerrr. They really nailed it.
So much fun!
surprised ancient gold dragon isnt on the list. it with a dragon tempest is going to deal a ton of damage. like an average of 10.5 dragons off the d20 round down to 10, which puts 10 dragon tempest triggers on the stack for 11 is just soooooooo much damage. great list tho.
Thats specifically for dragon decks and maybe white decks with cathars crusade but outside of those few decks it doesn't do a whole lot. Whereas reanimating and making treasures can go in every deck
It is very niche and very slow requiring a lot of set up
Black market connections is the best card in this set.
Getting all 3 things cost you 6 life and that is a lot. I only see this being a life gain card honestly
@@NitpickingNerds yeah, I don't think you take the 6 to the dome very often, but the option is there. I think mostly you're taking 3 per turn, for about 4-5 turns. Seems fine to me.
"Best card in the set" two replies later "seems fine" lmao
Additionally, and this is legitimate deckbuilding advice, playing cards that specifically don't have synergy with what you're trying to do just to not get hosed by boardwipes is not a great idea. There are definitely ways in any deck you're playing (especially black lmao) to bounce back or stop boardwipes that can still be on theme
Shuffle scuffle with precons from this set? Pretty please?! Also, cool hair Joe ;)
Thank you and we are working on SS but we are unable to produce fast enough to do them as the sets release
I totally wanna get Delayed Blast Fireball but I play with the same playgroup usually, so I feel l'd have to run more foretell cards so they don't know which one I have face-down lol
Even know it is hard to play around
Choadzilla!! I nominate him for the next Patreon shout-out
lol he has been mentioned before
Do you guys plan to do your standard rare+mythic grading video for this set, or just this top 10? You do you, I don’t make your TH-cam videos, but just wondering
I'm pretty sure, I saw them do that. They called it Squandered Ressources
We very well might!
i'm surprised that Aboleth Spawn didn't make the list. copying ETB's is usually more powerful than goading.
It is pretty good but we need to test it
@@NitpickingNerds won't it just play out like faerie artisans? maybe not as good but the play patterns are very similar.
I've done 2 draft... both a blast... next stop VEGAS for COMMANDFEST!
Hope you have a great time at command fest!
Thoughts on Font of Magic?
Purple is the best color congrats
Joe!!! Your hair looks amazing
15:41 my moxfield guess (plus minus 10 seconds allowed?)
I like the dragons but how does Jaheira not make the list? Or gale who goes in any spell heavy deck? A lot of the background commanders seem made for the 99 of existing archetypes so ppl would have something good to do with them after they draft.
We weren't fans of the commander though I can see how they could make other list
I don’t think they added any cards that make it feel like all my decks in those colors NEED it. But a lot of my decks picked up 2-5 cards which add more variety than the exact same card all the time
I feel that way with Black Market Connections. I want it in all my decks with black.
amazing hair color!
Thank you so much!
*me, foretelling delayed blast fireball
My opponents: ... "it's always willbender..."
likin the fresh cut joe
thank you so much
Joe's hair is 🔥🔥🔥🔥.
Thank you so Mcuh!
New chaos warp is pretty good
It is ok for sure
Wait, I thought that flickering a permanent in response to it being targeted, if it doesn't reenter the battlefield at a later phase, it will still die to targeted removal because it comes back into play before the removal resolves. Is that incorrect?
It comes back into play as a new instance of itself. Once it comes back it isn't the same creature it was before.
@@kennellfrederick4367 thanks for the clarification
@@SweatyTheodore maybe you were thinking of board wipes. then the flicker is useless unless they come back in at the endstep.
@@MitFruchtSaft that could be it, for some reason I was tied up on targeted removal though but it makes sense now
Amulet of Vigor is a bad card? It seems amazing to me
Cherries, love the hair!
I like how I was going to buy 3 foils on tcg and 2 hours later they went up to 8$ after this video
Which card?
These dragons are so good in Kaalia.
My LGS had the precons for $48.
That is a pretty good price
You don’t think the new dragons deck is that good? And possibly modify it a bit could work?
Modifying most decks can make them good imo
What about Black market connections? Isnt It good in commander?
We are pretty low on the card. It is pretty slow in our opinions
@@NitpickingNerds strange take, it's three mediocre effects stapled together. You guys seem to love those kinds of cards. It looks to me like a 3 mana talisman that has big upside.
I think you guys are off on the copper dragon. It literally 2 card combos with najeela.
Agreed. Seems like they’re being slightly contrarian for the sake of views.
Also, Ancient Copper Dragon + Revel in Riches👀
Why play it in Najeela though? At seven mana you can replace it for something that plays better then a non haste creature.
Okay? Najeela already has considerably better, more mana efficient 1-2 card combos. Its a timmy card at best
I opened a baulders gate set box yesterday and pulled a Jin gitaxias core augur 😩
Powerful!
16:28 for the Moxfield ad
Psssh... not even close!
How much worse is ancient copper dragon compared to goldspan dragon? I feel like the haste stapled on to goldspan makes a huge difference
The haste is noteworthy, but creating 10 treasures on average rather than a one treasure with "two mana of any color" is also hard to argue against.
6/5 vs 4/4 as well for just one more mana is also noteable.
I would just say have them both and let them synergize.
@@jackalvonstone250 I agree, goldspan doubling the mana you get from treasure is also really good, but unless your deck has other treasure synergy you’re going to get a lot more treasure from the copper one, I guess we’ll have to wait and see how much play they get
I think Goldspan Dragon is better for sure at 1 less mana and having haste. That said the upside of Copper is there if you can hit
@@NitpickingNerds 1 less mana plus haste means you get use out of it basically 2 turns earlier which makes sense of why it’s better given how fast edh is getting
Copper dragon is usually only better if you can cheat it out
I think deep gnome is stronger but more situational than archivist thats less powerful but more likely to trigger. I think 1 land ramp is better than 1 card in the beginning of the game. Most likely you wont get more than one search a turn anyways from an opponent in a single turn.
But You guys are like the few content creatures that realize how powerful Displacer kitten is.
I almost missed it! Beezy showed me how busted it was
I think in some decks you will wish it was banned. Like in tivit, kess, yarok, gyruda, yorion, and other spell slinger decks and it can protect itself! 😭.
The kitty is super busted with teferi time raveler. With teferi you can combo and your opponents cast cast a thing.
has Joe dyed his hair purple? can't tell if it's just my phone screen or something lol
It's the purple from the neon sign in the background
My hair is indeed purple :)
Deep Gnome Terramancer makes Field of Ruin playable now
I will still say no lol
Got one of each Baldur's Gate precon from a shop in Oregon for $35 each 🤷♂🤷♂🤷♂
Damn those are great prices!
Displacer Kitten + Orvar = a gazillion ETB triggers
Only a gazillion?
Can you flicker opponents lands for the gnome?
Yea that would work
