Bro i literally said the same thing last week! I caught it after watching XMen97, and my girl and i were impressed. We thought it would be Madame Web, and it was more Venom. That little girl who plays Ms. Marvel is super talented and underrated for sure. Alison Brie definitely did okay. If anyone was Nerf'd, it was Fury
It wasn’t a bad movie. Always judge a movie for yourself and don’t listen to these anti female mobs on social media saying anything with a female cast is horrible.
No, it's just that since Endgame/Infinity War, everyone arbitrary wanted every and any MCU project to be just as good when in reality, those two films were anomalies. If you go back and watch the MCU movies from phases 1-4, there were a ton of so-so, ok, and decent movies--some of which a lot of people still dislike or pretend never happened (like Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Incredible Hulk, etc.). Only a handful of them were truly great. However, now that Marvel is so popular and have been around for so long, the expectations continue to grow completely unrealistic. You can't even have a GOOD movie anymore. No one cares. If it isn't great, it's considered a disappointment. Guardians 3 was fantastic, Shang-Chi and Spider-Man No Way Home were great---and I thought Loki, Wandavision, Hawkeye, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Echo, and even Ms Marvel were pretty good. Not great, but good. However, the minute there's a ~really~ divisive movie like Ant-Man 3, Thor 4, or a show like Secret Invasion comes along, people magnify it out of proportion as if it's the norm but it isn't. The Marvels was one of those movies that a lot of people were ready to hate on it as soon as it was announced and they carried that baggage into the movie with them. So it was really easy to magnify its flaws when they were already bent on disliking it. I think that's kinda the case with almost any superhero movie lately--no matter how good it is.
I can see where you're coming from but I personally have to disagree. I'll agree that even phases 1 to 3 had some mediocre or bad movies here and there but it was generally safe to assume that they would be pretty good at the very least. Nowadays it kind of feels more like the luck of the draw how good or bad an MCU movie or show is going to be. I still watch any new MCU media that comes out because there's enough good material to keep me invested. And to be honest, it's still the best contemporary superhero film series (aside from Spider-Verse.) But even then, they're competition consists of the DCEU which ended with five underwhelming movies in a row (Black Adam, Shazam 2, The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman 2) and the Sony Universe which nobody gives a damn about.
Bad? No. Awful? Yes. Just because there are other bad MCU movies it doesnt make this one better. When you isolate this movie and judge it on its own its terrible.
With all due respect, I never said the movie was good because there are other bad MCU movies. The closest thing I said was that the movie was an improvement on the original Captain Marvel. Even then, there as plenty of stuff in the Marvels that I was fully prepared to criticise.
@@stuartbarron7117 I'd argue that it isn't an improvement on the original either. It's quite a close call as to which one is worse or better, both have different issues. But I appreciate the response 👍🏻
i think the movie had some good parts. i really enjoyed kamala fangirling out on capt. marvel but that was about it. bre had a meh script to work with and the other girl was... just the other girl. it would be just a okay movie but the plot made no sense and id rather watch a tree grow than watch the villain. yes, it really was that bad of a movie.
I don't think something needs to contribute to a theme for it to be good for a movie. If someone wants to throw a goofy and world consistent thing in their movie, why not? We have enough movies hyper focusing on themes 24/7, there's room for other types.
After watching this entire video I don't think you realize what you've done in making this video. You set this premise that the movie is not that bad yet the vast majority of your video facts about the negatives of this movie. I think your premise should have been that you like this movie despite how bad it is instead of the premise that it is not that bad.
In my defence, I'm not being dishonest or inaccurate with the video title. Most opinions on the movie indicate that it has little to nothing of value and isn't worth your time. But while I agree that the movie overall isn't very good, there is enough positive material in it that I can still recommend it. That's why I presented the video the way I did as the video does have more of a positive slant than most other reviews of the movie even if I do take a few critical detours. It's also worth noting that the title "Was The Marvels Really That Bad?" is worded as a question, implying that the answer is more complicated than a simple yes or no since some elements really are that bad while others in my opinion are not.
A hero is only as good as the villain, every super hero movie with a subpar villan flops or is kinda so so. Kree leader was subpar and always seems to be uncomfortable. Movies like Dark knight and LOTR are good example where a strong villain and good story telling makes a good movie. Only thing that is entertaining was Kamala playing as Ms Marvel. The plot needs some basic logic, even in a super hero world the necessity to maintain a basic logic on how some things happen makes it more appealing to audience.
I haven't even given it a chance yet but eventually will, too Me as the whole of Marvel fans Feige had a vision and it showed over the 12 years it took too get to endgame! And then Disney that ex girlfriend you can't seem to shake came calling and the rest is history.
Wow! I never thought about it that way! Funny, isn't it how of all the people that leave negative comments on this video, barely any of them can articulate why they didn't like it beyond "you liked this movie for literally any reason and therefore you are bad and smelly." If there is something wrong with my video (like if I've said something that's objectively incorrect) please let me know and I'll try to improve going forward. But if all you want is a video that states your opinions and nobody else's, the upload button's right there. I'm not interested in parroting your opinions or anyone else's but my own.
Disney, Marvel, Star Wars writers all suck. They do a shit job, throw in some DEI characters then when the fans say the movies aren’t good they just call the fans bigots. Like DEI peeps don’t care about good writing for the characters that represent them.
I didn't realise a video could only be monetised if specifically @butterphli3z enjoyed it. I must have missed that part of TH-cam's community guidelines. Also, keep in mind we have TH-camrs that literally commit crimes on video and still make millions of dollars. A guy having an unpopular opinion on a Marvel movie and making basically no money off it really isn't that big a deal, buddy.

I'm glad we understand each other. Hope you liked the video!
Thanks, I did! The name's Infinity but you can call me the Observer because that's what I mostly do... is just Observe.

That's a pretty big shield there
I like that, a really solid defence, can't argue with it
You are right, it wasnt so bad... It was even worse...

Do you think Guardians of the Galaxy 1 was a flop then?
As keep up the good work with these videos nothing comes easy yet you took the time to put the work in.
Thanks, will do!
This movie was so boring. And fangirl gets annoying right away. Spiderman was pushing it but this girl over did it.

If you think that many professional writers are bad at their job, I just automatically think less of your views.
@@channel45853 Yes they are that bad at their job and I don’t care what you think.
this is the most L + ratio video i've seen this year and you even had the audacity to ask for money 1m in rofl
