I went through a divorce a couple years ago and am about to go through another difficult breakup. I've been dreaming of moving from NYC to Pheonix or California, getting a Subaru, and exploring the West/Southwest for years now. Your channel has been a huge inspiration and I think I need to pull the trigger and make it happen. Living in NYC can be so depressing.
Hi Matthew! I am sorry to hear you are going through tough times. Sounds like we have lots in common as I've been through a divorce and very harsh breakup. the only thing that really helped me was when I was out in the nature alone and really thought about the past and the future. I know its really tuff right now but you just gotta keep your head up and soon you will realize it was all for the better. and sometimes, making the big move is the best thing for you. it was best thing for me when I moved to WA from CA. I really hope you can find inner peace and happiness with whatever you decided to do!! no one else can do that expect for you.
I moved from NY to AZ after a huge breakup. Drove cross country and everything. Best thing I ever did too. Now I have my Subie, my husband and our two dogs. Life is good. Keep your head up and your heart open, friend. Best of luck and safe travels!
Your setup is legit bro! And that electric jacket is sick! Pepper is a cute pupper too!! Enjoying your videos man! Also, the fried rice with the pork belly looked absolutely delicious!!
Man…you put the gourmet into outdoor cooking. When I used to climb the peaks of the Catskills and the Adirondacks in NY and the high peaks of New Hampshire, we ate freeze dried food and oatmeal. I love your videos. What a great camping partner Pepper is. Truly man’s best friend. You should publish an outdoor camping recipe book. Kimchi is the best. Be well..be safe. Keep posting great videos.
Hi Weasley, 👋 thanks for your kind comments! And if I'd hike like you, I would carry freeze dried food as well. 😆 I guess this is the benefit of car camping~
As always an inspiring little trip with a great setup. Thanks for sharing your adventures and nice to see you dont need thousands of dollars of kit to make a camp. My camping trip is coming up and preparing supplies
I love watching many different camping channels and seeing just how differently people approach it. Some channels I watch they go out on foot or in a canoe and don't bring more than they can fit in their backpacks and spend a few days in the wilderness. Some go out in their cars for an overnighter, park next to a fire pit and use propane for everything... including the campfire XD All good ways to enjoy the outdoors and it's given me ideas on things I'd like to try out. Keep the good videos coming!
Thanks! And those backpackers are something else!! It's too extreme for me. Lol. I love to drive out to the woods and not do anything but eat some good food, test out new gear, and enjoy the isolation and pure quietness. Also, at the time of the recording, we had a fire ban, so I had to use a propane fire pit~ and thank you for joining our camping adventure! See you on our next trip!
I enjoy ASMR-style videos, because they're particularly soothing! Recently, I recommended your videos to my collaborator, and he found them very informative!Great job!👍
Couple of things, obviously you enjoy what you do, you could easily do all that at home, but do you ever go out and walk the trails or look up at the night sky or go climbing, check out scenery, take photos or throw sticks for the dog etc ? what about toilet, most campers never show us how you do the whole toilet thing, do you have a portable toilet or composting toilet or ? The camp store near where you live must love it when you walk in, you have all the latest gadgets ..😀
Thanks for your comment and I hardly take walks/hikes. I camp to just get away from all the city noise and daily stressful life. just sitting in solitude is a stress release for me. and my dog doesn't play fetch either.. LOL I have a portable toilet and I will make sure to show it on my next video. and most camping gear is from Amazon~ no special treatment there.. :(
I bought my 24 Outback with camping in mind . When I camp I try to bring instant food that I just heat up . I bought a tent that fits over the rear hatch , keeps the bugs out and still get good wind flow. I saw your hammer a must for driving stakes . Lowes has a Kobalt hatchet for under $20 that has a flat back I also split wood with it by batoning the sharp side with a heavy piece of wood , safer than using it like an axe . You have a great setup , giving me some points I might change like instant coffee , just ain't the same lol . Got brave and took my Outback through some really bad holes getting down to the river , you know wheels in the air deep and mud took it like a champ . Great video . Bless yah .
Not sure about the packing lightly….. you took a LOT of stuff. But it was cool to see so many gadgets. There were a couple I plan to get. Thanks. Maybe turn off the mic when slurping your food though. But I really enjoyed the video!! Thanks!! And Pepper is so cute.

I've never understood the car tent camping, like attaching a tent to the back of your car. If you're going to go to the trouble of setting up what is basiclly a tent or a screen house, just setup a tent or screen house. The awning on the other hand is super simple and can certainly be useful if it's raining out and to give you some shade. I just got my 2024 OBW last week and am looking at crossbars for the rack. I'm thinking of going with some slightly longer ones and attach the awning just outside the rails so the car doesn't take up so much real estate under it. Not sure if it would work, but seems like you lose a good foot or two under your awning. Thoughts?
I was thinking that too and I do loose about 10 inches of coverage but if I mount them how you are thinking of doing, the only issues I might run into is that, if it's raining, it might rain through the space between the car and the awning if you have it further out. 🤔 plus, I don't like having things overhang further out. Just my thoughts. I am going to try out a new setup with some tarps and making an awning room so that I am covered when it rains. And I'll make a video of it soon.
