We have used the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
Good concept... price though. Kinda steep for what it is. Just my opinion.

I was gearing up to buy one. Then I heard it was $350....
I thought so too....so I got a Hasika. $115 . Not as good I don't think but you can throw away a couple and still be under the cost of this.

What's nice about it is the lifted ceiling, most awnings are fixed to the height where they're mounted, this is a good solution if you're in a lower height vehicle like a crossover. The price is a hard stopping point for me, but I love the design
Totally agree with you about the price and that's why I haven't bought one either.
I saw your video you did a few months back and I was amazed and when I seen it I knew I had to get it as I had been struggling to find a kick ass awning that can go with us wherever we go. My set up is hard to permanently mount a stationary awning like the one you showed in the beginning of this video.
We just came back from a camping trip in Oregon and my aunt was blown away at how fast we set it up.

I bought one because of your last video. Love it. Use it all the time, not just overlanding. I didn’t like the mounting suction cups. I use rubber covered twist ties. Attaches to my roofrack way easier and more sturdy.
Saw this awning on one of your earlier videos and bought it shortly after. It works great with the soft top Broncos!

I bought the moon shade after you showed it off the first time. I mount mine on the back of my ‘05 Jeep Wrangler rubi LJ.
But those walls are new to me! Yep getting one long and one short pronto.

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures Very much so. I took it out of the box, attached the included suction cups to the flip-up glass on the back of the Jeep, and had it set up in no time, so simple.
I am saving my money to get a Moon shade. They look like it would be a great cover.

Really nice - thanks for showing this. Was going to say “pricey” but given the square footage, material, etc - especially when I almost bought a pair of pants for $130 recently - guess not to expensive after all
I think I’m going to buy one, I do a lot of plain air painting and it would be great coverage to have.
I have the Moonshade and am not 100% sold on it yet. It is definitely easy to set up and very well made however I feel like the 2 poles are too flimsey unless you anchor them down. I have resulted in carrying sand bags with me in order set this awning up securely. Suction mounts are pretty much worthless IMO. I have the mag mounts and they also arent very strong. However I do live in CO and it can get pretty windy. My solution is similar to the set up on your Jeep with the eyelets permanently mounted to my roof rack on all 3 sides. One thing I wish Moonshade would do is add 3 more poles to go around the awning to make it more ridgid but thats just me. Overall I do like it and it definitely serves its purpose for the price and ease of use.

I just bought a rightline version similar to this.. And it fits quite well as well. I wanna say it was a bit cheaper.. but not sure it has any walls. Which is kind of a unique feature.
Yes that's why I bought the Kelpie cuz the backwoods kelty comes with sidewalls and I love that if it's raining

With all the attachment options, this looks like it could potentially be a good awning for A frame campers like the aliner.
Wow this it tempting. I have a mid height rack and have been pondering the ARB 4 foot wide awning. It would be a permanent fixture on the truck and not sure it can go upwards like that does to give head clearance on a shorter rack.
There is something to be said for it being affixed to the truck, but the ARB also requires two end poles and guy lines 🤔

I wheel out of an F150 and use the bed like a kitchen like your setup. I have fiberglass bedsides and I want to use the suction cups to stretch the 7' side and cover the tailgate, so is the support bar a requirement? It doesn't look like you used the support bar when attaching the awning to your daughter's car. Thank you!

I'm looking at the Moonshade to replace my fixed awning on my teardrop. I need something that is user friendly day for someone setting up solo with strength issues in my hands. Price is reasonable if this fits my requirements. Fixed awning is too difficult for me.

Really nice solution for temporary mount! I've take a look for it in the site, but can't find the 3th pole (they said only 2 tension and 2 supporter poles) neither like options or maybe I'm wrong in research

It looks beautiful but what do you do for a soft top. Looks like the Kelsey backwoods is really the best choice if you want more protection and more versatility

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures what I realized was you said it could fit to any vehicle when you were doing that demonstration and I really like it I just think it's a little high in price. But I will tell you the kelty backwoods will close you in from rain and it looks very sturdy and you can put it on the front or back and it can adapt to almost any type of car so I just ordered that one but appreciate your input on that batwing because I really wanted one of those but I'd have to get a hardtop first

He said a heck of a deal ,, yea! if your the one recieveing the $395 for it...i visited walmart , bought myself a beach awning , a Couple heavy magnets and already had the poles...total cost $75 and its shaped pretty much like the moon shade, dont waste your money,, thats straight up a rediceulious price for that,, lol. ,,,ps. i guarentee that moon shade wohld bevpretty much shredded in any kind of consistant wind, i live in high winds,, that tent material never hold up long...thats the real truth...

How would that attach to a JL that doesn't have attachment points, such as a roof rack, but just a plane JL?

The suction cups should work great.
it's not a fair comparisson, first one having a 260 degree opening I believe, where the portable, barely offers shade for few people, and then depending where the sun is, you have to move it arround

I can't help but ask, why doesn't Moonshade offer four legs to let it be truly versatile and give the option of being 100% free standing.
It would be very difficult for that to stand up.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures four legs like an ezup awning and a couple of guylines would stand up better then the lean-to setup and far more useful. Just saying it would be nice if Moon offered an accessory option for two more poles.

lighter than a camp chair.
I love mine; just wish the seams were water proof from the factory. For the price and good materials it uses, I shouldn't have to water proof it IMO. I have yet to do so, and mine leaks quite a bit if it rains much at all.

Yes they have some. Mine came from the company that makes my rack.

seems like it would be easy for rain to dump where your car meets the awning.
I have a fix for that that works great!! Never had any water get in the back of my Gladiator.

Showed us a problem for a wrangler and then showed the solution on a gladiator with a rack. How bout on a wrangler with no roof rack?
I did not show you a problem for a Wrangler. I showed you an option for a lot of vehicles (that just happened to be on a Wrangler) and then said why it wouldn't work for my Gladiator. I then shared multiple mounting options that you can choose from. The answer for the Wrangler with no roof rack is the suction cups.

What a complete RIPOFF!!!!! You can buy an Aqua Quest 10x10 Defender tarp, some shock corded tent poles and a set of tarp poles for about $200. Moon Shade is a complete RIPOFF!!!!

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures all the products I listed individually do exactly that. And it is tarp material. More specifically it’s a reflective tarp material. I know tarps. I love to use them. I e got plenty of experience with dozens of them. You clearly aren’t familiar with Aqua Quest. They are the gold standard when it comes to tarps. Definitely better quality than moon shade. Even worse, MADE IN CHINA!!! It’s a RIPOFF! Plain and simple. Probably costs them $50 to make, if that. I’ve sourced products out of China. I know what items cost. I understand you have to defend them because they pay you. They can afford to pay you because of the insanely ridiculous price they charge. I get it. But the proof is in the pudding. Their selling Jello pudding at a caviar price. Those are the facts. Can’t deny them.
