Its kinda hard to say if its Damien or Lucian who is the reala antagonist of Divinity, its Lucians constant stupid decisions that ultimately screw Rivellon over. I get not killing Damien when he was a baby, but after that its on Lucian.
I hope if they continue on with the Lucian Damian arc that they give us some more of that grey area of it all. I absolutely loved the angle in dos2 that the void creatures arent inherently evil baddie faction but simply alien beings who were robbed of their home. I may not like them or agree with their means or goals but being able to understand their motivations at all gave them infinitely more depth than I expected. I know demons are a bit more obviously evil but perhaps that "not all demons side with chaos" angle can bring some nuance to Damian. Maybe he wants to grab all this power to elevate the world back to the advanced level it was 10 000 years ago or something and the evil stuff he pulls off is just a means to an end that he believes is justified. A revolutionary leader who is willing to burn the world to bring it forward. Being a tyrannical despot is one thing but if you think youre restoring some lost glory at least thats a character motivation beyond "im the bad guy so i want to destroy the world".
I played Ergo Draconis years ago, and until recently forgot about the Divinity series. Well about 2 weeks ago I obtained DOS 2 and after playing for a few days craved lore, so I purchased DOS 1. I much appreciate these lore videos, they help with my lore craving and give insight into the world I'm diving back into.
Ego Draconis was great it’s just a shame it never let you turn into a dragon in some areas and roast all your enemies. I’d full on love a Divinity game that sees the last Dragon Knight build the order back up under Lucian’s direction for Damiens eventual return.
Considering the fact that Original Sin 2 takes place 2 years before the return of Damian, and 58 years before DKS, there are really only 2 opitons left, since Larian would never risk making another Divinity game, without its Original Sin label: OS3 will be a direct prequel to DKS or DKS will be retconned, and OS3 will take its place in the timeline
Awesome video as always!!! I can't help but like wonder how old was Ygerna(is that how you spell it? ) cuz like... He was 15 so she was probably the same age and she was killed too like.. Fictional teenagers lives sucks 😭 and when I was a teen my main consern was will I have chips today
Canonically I know it's impossible to answer, but do you believe Lucian would have been de-powered by ridding the world of source in DOS2? I know it's said he would be a false divine at the end of the game if source is gone, but from what I can recall in Divinity 2 he still seemed like a powerful character, so I'm not sure either way.
It's the safe bet that source was purged and he lost his power. Fallen Heroes marketing alluded too it, and it would explain how he was captured by Damian later. That said, he's still an incredibly experienced warrior who was a cut above most people before he was ever Divine anyway.
@@MortismalGaming Let's all agree that they didn't plan it out decently and DKS should have taken place before DoS2, and that purge ending is downright horrible. That way the timeline is. -> Lucian and Damian have a great war -> Lucian gets betrayed and imprisoned in space -> Dragon knights get hunted to near extinction -> Damian and Ygerna get stopped by the last Dragon Knight at the height of their power -> Lucian is freed and the war continues in earnest -> Due to the size of Damian's force, drastic measures are employed, Lucian deathfog's the elves. -> Damian loses nearly all his troops and barely survives -> The dragonknight and Patriarch train more dragon knights and rebuild -> Lucian realises that deathfogging the elves exposed them to another enemy and goes into hiding -> Lucian gets caught in the act by the Godwoken and smacked down for his atrocities -> The Godwoken takens on Lucian's role as defender against the void. Lucian is depowered -> Damian has plans still. -> Now Rivellon only has a depowered Lucian, some young dragon knights and maybe a few sourcerers to fight the Black Ring Makes a LOT more sense and doesn't mandate that horrible, awful purge ending that invalidates the entirety of DoS2 as a story.
I remember damian name from a ending cut scene in divinity original sin 2 but i cant remember exactly what happened, was something about a character that went far away "until a man of the name damian meet him/her"
Now I am completely confused. I only ever played Divinity Original Sin II. If I wanted to play these games in order.Which one should be first, then second on so on.
Dragon Commander (unrelated to the rest of the series mostly) Original Sin 1 Divine Divinity Beyond Divinity (terrible game) Original Sin 2 Divinity 2: Ego Draconis
